Nice Blog I am living thru you Your trip has looked like a once in a lifetime trip. I enjoy reading your blog, please keep them coming! Enjoy your adventure, I am working a little extra hard at my banks to save up for a adventure like yours. I want to do the same trip, and with the community banks in trouble I might get my wish sooner!
write more You will need to write more about El Salvador. I am a Salvadorean and I have been gone from my country for like 10 years. So with your writing I can find out how much the country has changed. Please be safe and try to leave our land better than the way you found it.
Adios.
Mirador Trip Hi, I love your page but, you haven't had any comments yet. Please join my facebook group SAVE MIRADOR BASIN and you will see a very large community that is getting involved. We would love it if you could write about your experience and/or post some photos/video.
Gracias,

Great blog! Hi Ian, Desperado (word related to Spanish verb "esperar," to hope, formed from contract of "de" and "esperado," literally "of - hoped," hence, hopeless.
Really neat to have those temples to yourselves on not-so-quiet morning in the jungle. I have barely touched any Mayan temples, although once I played baseball with some Mayan boys, in Yucatan, in which the bat was a tree limb, carefully chosen, and the ball, a rock wrapped in rags ...
There are some great hikes aroun here, Ian, I hope to share some with you.
Best regards,
Russell
Very powerfully written. I understand the feeling you had when you stood on those ruins. I had the same feeling when I saw my first Native american petroglyph of a bighorn sheep in the Mojave Desert the other day.
Awesome post Ian.
It's kinda strange, while I have been out in the Mojave Desert every day stalking lizards, often alone, I have had ample time to enjoy the raw beauty of the desert wilderness, reflect, and think about my path in life. The same thoughts have occurred to me as I watch the desert sunset. Like you, I am a scientist, yet science cannot account for all. Science is knowledge; knowledge is power; and with power comes responsibility to act morally, with ethics. Power can be used for good or for evil. We can rely on science to tell us the truth, but we cannot rely on science to tell us right from wrong. What is needed is a new ethic, an ecological ethic to save us from ourselves.
I miss you guys, travel safe and have fun, say hi to Andy for me.
