| 12th October 2009 James | Scotland In Miniature indeed! - From: Arran Jumpers Excellent summary! My wife and I just visited Arran a month ago, and we seriously considered packing up, leaving the states and moving. We REALLY didn't want to leave. The stones at Machrie Moor are quite a sight. They have an almost mystic charm to them. The parking is easy to miss. I recommend getting a detailed ordinance map of the island just so you don't miss anything! Also, King's Cave is a great small hike, and Glenashdale Falls in Whiting Bay is a spectacular 2-tier waterfall. There are numerous golf courses along the island's coast with great views. We saw the seal statue too! Fortunately, there were 3 live seals about a mile further down the road. |
| 14th September 2009 Eggs on Legs | Ohrwurm. - From: As I was going to St Ives, I met a man with 40 wives. Gary - you should have your own internet search company. How you come up with this stuff? Brill. Shaz. xxx |
| 14th September 2009 Taryn Springhall | - From: As I was going to St Ives, I met a man with 40 wives. Hi there. Your blog is so great. Really enjoyed reading it. I'm a travel writer and always love to hear what everyone else has to say about a place. What sort of guides are you using? If you don't mind me asking. Happy travels! t |
| 14th September 2009 Gary | - From: As I was going to St Ives, I met a man with 40 wives. "Since we went to Thomas Tank Engine World at Drayton Manor I have had the theme tune in my head. It's driving me bananas." Aye: http://andrewhammel.typepad.com/german_joys/2005/04/german_word_of__1.html "where the dewdrops cry, and the cats meow...." |
| 13th September 2009 dragonlady | Stonehenge graffiti - From: As I was going to St Ives, I met a man with 40 wives. Hi Al, Shaz & Beth, Stonehenge is amazing. I loved it the first time I saw it, a great many years ago. In those days we were allowed to walk around and under the stones. You really get an idea how big they are when you are under them. We were also shown some Roman graffiti - a soldier had carved his name into the stone and dated it. I can't remember the name or date (it may be on the site) but I thought it was very funny that we hate modern graffiti but love it when it is very old. It is such a shame that vandals etc. have spoiled it for everyone so you can't get right under the stones any more. I was quite disappointed the last time I was over there and we had to be so far away. Still a wonderful sight but less than I remember. There is something wonderful about seeing them on top of the hill at dusk when driving along the road, though. Very other worldly. |

| 12th March 2008 Occasionally Bob | Glad to have you back - From: Welcome to Scotland where the weather is FABULOUS! Thanks guys. I feel homesick. It looks amazing. The rain in NZ cannae compare to the tartan clad misery guts rain we get in Sco'lund. Can I give you a mission to make me feel better? Gonnae stick up a photo of the hideous buildings at the Nevisport end of Fort William High Street. Everytime I think of the building and carpark around WHSmith, Mackays and the Doctor Surgery I get a warm fuzzy feeling about not being there. |

We should be publishing a blog soon featuring our little mini egg 'Beth' who was born on the 23rd Jan - 4 weeks early! | 2nd March 2007 anonymous | - From: A good old Scottish Wedding! I loved reading your blogs and still keep checking if there are anymore posts. Actually waiting to hear about the birth of mini egg! Hopefully we'll see a few pics. Sure miss the humour/wit that was so distinctive to you guys. By the way, I'm the one who commented on "Geraldton" way back when. It sounds like you were right. The place is dead now. I am going to Oz within the next year or so and am going to make a point of heading over to the west coast and up to Geraldton just to see how things have changed. Should be interesting! Take care. |
| 17th October 2006 Berny | Bra Fence - From: No Bungy Bra Fence was started in 1999. 4 women put their bras on it. Over the years many other bras were added and it became abig tourist attraction. This year, Queenstown and Lakes District Council decided it was a hazard and so the bras have all been removed. A local woman, Celia Williams is writing a book about it to raise money for breast cancer research. |
