Madrid the capital of Spain might as well be a different country since most of Spain regions are all different, Madrid is the financial center for Spain but there is so much to see. We stayed right off Gran Via in the center of Madrid, Gran Via is full of shops & people walking every where. Callao metro station is right on Gran Via, the Royal palace is walking distance, Puerta de Alcala is walking distance, the neighborhood of Chueca & Latina are not far from Gran Via. Not ever crossing the Atlantic Summer & I made plans to visit Spain, this was our first time in Europe. We wanted to see Spain as the first European country, we decided to go to Catalunya or Catalonia for some of you. We started we not plans at all but we wanted to see FC Barcelona and the old city, barri gothic or ciutat vella for some of you. We did las ramblas, the sagrada familia, the arch the triumph, also visited Montserrat monastery, this was an eye popping experience, we both have never seen anything like this. A quick trip to the Rose City, Portland Oregon and catch a soccer game. Went to Portland to see a game between the Portland Timbers and the LA Galaxy, this was our first time in Portland, this was Summers's first time flying Alaska Airliner, for me it was the second time flying them. Stayed in downtown which was surprisingly a well kept city, clean and easy to navigate, this trip was during July of 2013, the weather was quite hot for the Northwest. Walked to most of the city even though we rented a car, I for one I rather walk but I think Summer is not too fan of doing that ( she wont read this ) lol. After debating where to go while visiting Boston we decided to go to Salem First. Took the short but confusing drive to Salem, finally made to Salem after missing the round about 2 times since the marking on the streets are pretty much non existing. Made it to Salem, visited the visitor center, toured the city by ourselves, visited the Witch Memorial, and this was actually pretty humble experience to see how they die & why. Visited one of the museums & then went to the Lobster Shanty, this place is actually pretty good. After almost a full day in Salem we took out long drive to Cape cod and to our hotel in South Yarmouth.
