Well we can add a new country to our list: Hong Kong. I didn't know it was a different country, but it most deffinatly is. Our first implications of this idea came in quite different ways. First: After buying our train tickets for the 20 hour ride, we were handed a slip that warned the buyers of a train ticket, that the train company was not responsible if one was to be rejected by Hong Kong, and to have "...all neccessary visas and permits..." to enter. We disregarded this. Our next hint was that Hostel World listed Hong Kong under [View Full Entry]

It is hard for me to remember but I beleive we left South Korea on Thursday by ferry. We arrived by train in Shanghai on Saturday. It was the worst two days and an hour of my (and probably Randys') lives. I don't know where to begin; maybe because I am not too sure when then misery began. Was it back in Korea? Or maybe it was somewhere in the Chinese Northern Sea? I don't know. But I do know that it was horrible, and after I put up the pictures you will have a better understanding (though no words [View Full Entry]

A good quote from Randy that really sums up our Seoul experience. The city is very pretty, and the people are extreamly nice. I think that is one thing I will always remember; the people here always helped us, they showed us how to eat their food, where to go, and even how to send mail back to the U.S. (that is if you, mom, get something in the mail soon...). Today we spent 12 hours walking around the city. We litteraly saw everything (the N Seoul Tower is the highest point in Seoul and is at the very center [View Full Entry]

'...And the multiplying villianies of nature do swarm apon him...' - Macbeth. Today we found ourselves lost again in a new city. And it just so happened that this city was rather large and the people were overzelous to try and help us along our way. The only problem is that when you don't know where you are going, it is very hard to find it. After a four hour bus ride we arrived in Seoul. Usually when we come to new place we go to a tourist information center, get a map, and have them circle on it all [View Full Entry]

Just updating while I have a minute: Our plans have made a slight change, instead of being in China right now (like I originally thought) we are now in South Korea checking-out a 2000 year old history of the Korean people. Amazing, it's just too bad that the Japanesse burned the place down a couple hundred years ago in an invasion attempt. But the Bulguksa Temple has been recreated with great attention for details. I hope to be in Seol tomorrow; but I now have little, if any confindence in our planning. There is a ferry from the North of [View Full Entry]

Hiroshima Blow-over Asia » Japan » Hiroshima By Dylan22 May 26th 2007 Dylan Turner So after taking a booked train (as the picture will show) from Kyoto, we arrived in Hiroshima two hours later. We arrived with high hopes, only to have them quashed and burned, like a fat kid playing with fire and ants... All the tourist info had lead us to beleive that Hiros [View Full Entry]

Ok, so we're here at the Kyoto Toursit Info. Center in Kyoto Station, Kyoto. This is our second day here and we are planning to see a couple more things before we hop on a Shinkansen (bullet) train, to Hiroshima. It's raining pretty hard today, and I think it is a good warm-up to the weather that waits for us once we get to India just in time for the Monsoon. After two good days of exploring all of Tokyo we could, we moved on to Kyoto. We arrived at about five in the afternoon, and after a long, hard, [View Full Entry]

We arrived yesterday at two in the afternoon. The plane flight was not bad at all. We both took or sleeping drugs and knocked ourselves out for at least seven of the 11 total hours. After we arrived we took a 80 min. train ride to Tokyo city, and from there we walked to our hostel. It was a very clean, contemporary hostel. All concrete and glass. We decided to take a little nap, but it turned into a full on sleep cycle. We finally got up at four in the morning to go see the fish market, but we [View Full Entry]

Untitled Dylan Turner Well, here I am. Packed and ready to leave for a three month journey through Asia. Today is my 20th birthday and I still can't believe my friend and I are really going to do this. We have traveled together before; Two years ago we backpacked through Europe. We defiantly had the time of our lives. This trip is going to be much more difficult I think. And I think the rewards will be much more gratifying. My friends name is Randy and we are both students at the University of Utah. He is very smart, and [View Full Entry]
