There are just some things you’ve got to do in your life. Now, if I was to tell you exactly what you’re supposed to do - it would be far too bold of a statement. Respectively, the ideals of a personal endeavor will change from person to person, and hopefully, within a person they will change vastly throughout the course of a lifetime. I think it’s safe to say, however, that everyone has them. For some people it defines their life, for others it’s a brief moment in time. For me, this was one of those things that will define the [View Full Entry]

"If this baby represents my childhood dreams, this is me punting it through the field goal of life" - Me, before kicking a doll at my co-workers shortly after an intense 20 minutes. This quote should raise some questions. Questions like; "What childhood dream has Dustin recently accomplished?". Or, for the more scrutinous, "Of all the possible analogies, why did he chose to punt a baby through goal posts?". While both questions are perfectly ligitimate, only one of them will be answered in the following entry (perhaps a shrink will answer the other sometime in the near future [View Full Entry]

We don't want front teeth, we want heat. We don't want fancy toys with bells and whistles, I want a pillow... not rolled up jeans. We don't want pity, because when it comes down to it, we dig this place. Merry Christmas. [View Full Entry]

Christmas Breakfast

There we sat in a moment of ignorance (bliss) before the Inferno. We sat like Hiroshima on August 5, 1945 on a day prior to the reason it became famous. It was all of our sorry ass relatives on December 6, 1917 just before our entire city was blown into peices, compliments of the Imo and Mont Blanc. We're the suckers, being sucked into a false sense of security as we engaged in an all out ping pong war, an X-BOX tournament to end them all and a foosball table that simply beckoned to be christened by the once loyal patrons [View Full Entry]

Suspect and Culprit
The grand scheme of things
Life at it's finest

So i've been debating as to whether i'd continue to write in this travel journal. Constantly I try and convince myself that it's superior to a blog and that's solely due to the fact that i write about things away from home. So i've cracked, i am in essence away from home, but it still feels the same (less the monotony)...it is Canada after all. Everyone speaks english, the vast majority of people overuse the "word" - "Eh" (whether it be Canadians or Australians/Kiwi's) but whats most important...it's not home. It's not that i dislike home, or Halifax, in any personal [View Full Entry]

Did it snow?
Ol' School

With a sharded bottle neck to my throat and a look on my face like i'd just made a mess of my pants a little too early, I barely got the words "alright, chill out" to form in my vocal chords and exit from my quivering mouth. With 4 spaniards to every respect corner and a wall to my back I thought to myself - - "fetal position excluded, there's really nothing I can do in this situation". I'll admit, a swift kick to the huevòs meant for the guy to the left and a strategically placed roundhouse kick to the [View Full Entry]

As the saying goes; "there's no place like home"...coined by the modestly attractive and decidedly astute Dorothy of the cult classic "the wizard of Oz". In her circumstance she was justified. I myself agree that no two places are exactly the same, and so therefor; There is decidedly, "no place like home". However. Picture thousands upon thousands of helmet clad Italians storming through the streets celebrating Italy's victory over France. The newly proclaimed world champions for the next 4 years wreaking havoc and mayhem in their own city like it's their birthday.[i [View Full Entry]

I should have cancelled. At the exact moment in which the rain hit the ground and the weather became reminiscent of Soviet Russia and nothing like a typical Italian summer...I should have cancelled the tour. My subconcious repeated this but as usual it went unheaded. With this feeling in my gut repeated for an entire 4 hour tour it was punishment enough. I seriously should have cancelled the tour. At 1:30 I rock up to Circo Massimo, as planned, and as always. Upon exiting the metro it's dark...Not strangely however, the weather's been terrible lately and it's about to rain. Fortunetly [View Full Entry]

If a picture of Toby and I with zucchini's stuffed down our pants warrents an entire entry, than here comes the novel. More has happened in the last 3 weeks than some of the other entries combined. However, it's taken this long to work up the fortitude to walk the 10m across the street to where addela's internet place currently resides and type this. There's something to be said about my lifestyle. This will probably come out in some mangled order, that of which will follow no chronological type structure. I no longer work at the yellow hostel, or 'The Yellow' [View Full Entry]

It seems that you spend your whole life getting comfortable, so many striving for the white picket fence, 2.5 kids and a dog. It's fair to say that whilest travelling it's what you're trying to get away from. It's not the sole intent, but deeply rooted. So here I am, "stuck" in the same place for 3 months and hell...it's valentines day. What self respecting male of my age and situation would stay in a hostel filled with attractive females? Not I, and not Toby...so as to perpetuate the homosexual honeymoon rumour, Toby and I packed up 2 days worth of [View Full Entry]
