We are home. Our year in Korea is over. It was a year that we will always remember. We did a lot of cool stuff and made some great friends along the way. Our first stop was actually in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We were only here for a few hours before heading to the Philippines. However, they were a few hours well spent. There were two things that Derek and I wanted to try while we on our big Asian Adventure: balut and durian fruit. As you have read, we tried balut in the Philippines, mmmm tasty. Singapore, the utopia of today. Seriously, this country (city-state actually) was amazing. There were so many cool things about this place that it did seem perfect. There are around 4-5 million people that live in Singapore. Most of the population was Chinese; however, it seemed like a peaceful common ground for multiple races. Singapore was a beautiful, well constructed country that ran smoothly. More impressively though, was how clean it was. I do not believe that I saw a single piece of trash on the ground. Asian Invasion Entry 1 We apologize in advance for being so slow in updating our blog. One of our goals when moving to South Korea was to travel…a lot. In November Emily and I went with two of our friends, Sandy and Derek, to invade Asia! We all took a 12 day vacation that included about 11 different flights and three different countries. So, Koh Lanta, Thailand, take 2-.... A really unexpected and awesome thing is happening on the island of Koh Lanta, and its called puppies and kittens galore! This is a long overdue blog entry about our trip to Jeju Island in late August. Jeju Island is just south of South Korea. It has been described as a tropical island that was the “Florida of South Korea”. This weekend we went to the Boryeong mud festival in Daechon Beach, and I really only have one thing to say about it- Awesome! We thought that was an excellent plan to celebrate the weather, so we joined them. The park we went to had both a theme park and a water park. After recently purchasing a large amount of camping gear, Emily and I were very anxious to put it to use. We thought there would be no better spot to start off with other than Bukansan Mountain. Bukansan Mountain is one of the most famous mountains around the Seoul area. It is rated as moderate to extreme difficulty and we haven’t really ever hiked a mountain before.
