After a quick breakfast of coffee and muffins in Montreal, we were back in the camper bus and heading for home! Tony and I tried talking the girls into camping one more night on Lake Erie because the weather was so nice. We weren't ready to get back to reality yet, but the girls couldn't wait to get back home. After driving 15 hours from Montreal to Fairfield, we were so relieved to finally be back home. Looking back, the trip went by so quickly! Bonjour! We have spent the past two days in Montreal and have really enjoyed our stay. We felt an immediate culture shock when we arrived. This massive, french speaking, classy dressed city is so different from the small, laid back, casually dressed towns that we've camped in and visited the past week. We walked around town and visited the underground mall (nothing too exciting). Apparently, there is going to be an international jazz festival beginning here in a few days. Bonjour! We have just crossed the Canadian border and are on our way to Montreal! I do have to rewind a bit to fill you in on our last day in Maine! Yesterday, we spent the entire day on the water in Bar Harbor. We took a morning cruise on LuLu’s Lobster boat in search of grey /harbor seals and lobsters. Greetings from Maine! Sorry that I haven't blogged in a few days! We've either been too busy or haven't had internet access. I have a lot to share, though and some great pictures as well! On Tuesday, we drove into Maine to see a cloud of mist and haze. We kept telling the girls that it was beautiful, but it was hard for them to believe us because they couldn't see much of the harbor. We have just spent two days in New Hampshire and I can sum up our experience here in three letters: W-E-T! We did make the most of it, though. We camped at a very scenic campground called Crawford’s Notch. It was extremely secluded and private with The Saco River running behind it. You could hear the water rushing by as you slept - pretty peaceful. Greetings from the Adirondack Mountains of New York.! We spent the night at Moffit Beach Campground. We had a beautiful view of Lake Pleasant from our camp site. The only problem was that we couldn’t keep the girls out of the lake! While we were setting up camp for the night, Julia kept asking us to take her to the water to “dip her toes in”. Yeah, right! It’s official! The Dunns are finally on the road! We left town yesterday and headed towards Cleveland. The first few hours felt like we were driving through Sacremento again with no AC in the bus! Hot diggity hot!!! We then drove through some pretty bad thunderstorms. When we stopped to eat at Subway, Maddie asked us if they had a basement, in case a tornado blew through! Poor girl! Now that school is out, the Dunns are ready to hit the road again in the Westy! This summer, our plan is to drive up the east coast - visiting New York, New Hampshire, Maine and finally - Montreal. Well, the Dunns are about to wrap up their excellent adventure out West. When we look back at our blogs, we can't believe all of the amazing places we've been! Overall, we voted that Wyoming was our favorite site - seeing state, but we all agreed that out of the nine states we drove across, we could see ourselves actually living in California. We FINALLY made it to our final destination - California! We spent fourteen hours in the car on Friday driving through Nevada. If it wasn't for Las Vegas, I don't think I'd ever want to see Nevada again! As we approached California, Tony broke the news to me that the temperature in Sacremento was 107 degrees and that we would be driving through it shortly to reach our friends.
