Okay, it's good, but you forgot the pictures of rocks! By the way, I have a sideways video of part of Deborah's star performance. Any idea of how to turn it around? Are you coming this year? March 22-28. PS also a sideways part of the portapotty blues

Thanks guys! It's just what I imagined it would be like in Nevada ( and why I wimped out). You at least deserve " I survived Carson City for Obama." T shirts. Or maybe it's enough to know you participated in saving the free world.

hey there.. - From: Feastie Boys
hey :) well, i just wanted to send few lines, planning to do this for quite a long time, heh.. last year i was reading your blog, and I can freely say it kind of inspired me a bit to get even more interested for that tiny country of Armenia, and I did it, went there in July/august 2006. was such a great joy to see and recognize some places from your blog/photos :) so this year I even found a job there in yerevan, only temporary one, but still I'm again waiting for the moment to come to get there again :) so just wanna say, thanks again! :) keep writing, your blog is just great. marko mpetrovic@neobee.net

getting to know you - From: Penis sheers and the Matrix unplugged
Hi Jon....I finally got your TravelBlog and really enjoyed it...what a circus you are living in, it makes Grover Lane seem BORING... we too have potholes and potential land mines just no dominatris shoes or women even willing or able to bend down to tie them up or on, instead you can find women in their pajamas carrying cups of coffee, walking their dogs or sweeping plums off the drive way and ducking from overly protective parenting birds...phew, what a long sentence...anyway, your life sounds positively delightful and somewhat intimidating but there's no place like home (Santa Cruz) so we'll look forward to your addition to the 'Lane'... what the Soviets hath wrought - From: Pilgrim's Progress
It's wonderful to read about your pilgrimage through post-Soviet land. The beautiful images are the mountains and the churches, the latter of which are done in pure Armenian style. The rest of the buildings are Soviet monumental, dismal reminders of Soviet political power .The worst was Stalinist baroque which still dots the periphery of Moscow. Keep it up Jon. We're all very proud of you.

lux - From: I arrive
The Russians would call this apt "lux" This is about ten times nicer than anything I ever ever stayed in in the former Soviet Union. Most of the places I stayed were kommunal'ki or communal apts. Common hallway, bath, kitchen, corridors. One room each for each separate family. Entranceways still haven't changed. My friend Nina is still trying to get the local drunks out of the elevator at night in her apt building in St. Petersburg.

thank you - From: I arrive
I loved reading your journal entry and seeing the photo's of your arrival in Armenia. It's amazing to me how much it all means to me considering my pretty tenuous connection to my heritage. I know at best three or four words of Armenian, I've never been to Armenia, most of my Armenian relatives are gone and have been since before my birth, my knowledge of Armenian history is border-line pathetic...But while reading your entry, by heart was beating faster and a couple times my eyes filled with tears. I feel this strange kind of pride welling up. I'd love to forward all this to my dad - I think he'd really get a lot out of your writing. Then again, at 83 he might just find it too heart breaking. I don't know.

How great - From: I arrive
Jon this sounds like so much fun! (the adventure of the trip) I love the details like the kitchen sink reminding you of a submarine and each aisle of the supermarket being a separate business. (I always spend a lot of time in supermarkets when I travel: fascinating) Have to admit that I laughed out loud at the part about you getting into the songs on the plane and bursting into tears. I love our generation!! Please keep sending the emails about where this blog is -- I can never seem to remember the URLs of blogs. THIS SOUNDS REALLY COOL AND FUN! (spending time in Armenia) I will read the other ones to see where you are going next.
