We brought home some Turkish Delight that Richard personally picked out to share with our friends. I'll try to prepare a Turkish meal too.

Sorry didn't respond sooner, especially since we're home now. I did do a little low key shopping and it was fun. Mainly we scrambled either through the ruins or crowds at the local bazaars.

No, Richard refused to buy anything this trip! What could I do but shop in his place? He did end up enjoying picking out the carpet. Will write soon.

The weather has been grand. I'm glad there has been rain at home but sorry it has been gloomy there. (You just are missing me of course). We're a little gloomy here know our adventure will be ending soon. I hope to upload more pieces once Travel Blog cooperates. Judith

It is working! Kaye, you know me all too well (jewelry). Yes, I've purchased inexpensive pieces along the way. Just couldn't resist. Keep checking my blog. I hope to have more soon.

Travel blogging is great fun. Unfortunately the website doesn't always cooperate. I've been trying to publish for a couple of days but it won't cooperate. Having a great time though we're feeling it is coming to a close soon. Love you, Judith

The grandmother and her family are very photogenic. I have their address to send them copies when we get home. I'm having difficulty (rather Travel Blog is) so my reports are behind. I'll try to catch up.

Well, I love getting your reports but as you both know I am seriously technologically retarded and have tried before to write back to you and am not sure it got thru at all. Lovely to see the pix - and you look great, Jude! Keep it up! I remember Sirince. More! More! X to you both - Martha

carpet salesmen
The exact same thing happened to Dave and I last year at the Blue Mosque. We did not go into the carpet shop. I told him we had dinner reservations and didn't have time to look at carpets. Which was true and I'm glad we escaped Istanbul without a carpet. I did purchase a small one later on in the trip and I love it!

Oh Yes, The Carpet Men
I enjoyed your post on the carpet seller experience. I narrowly managed to avoid them by telling them that I was going to be in the city for weeks and would only want to explore the shops once I was ready to go back to Canada. They were always very pleasant and yet quite persistent in wanting me to "only go to look". Glad to hear that you were able to leave carpet-less.

Your Turkish adventure
We were both quite overwhelmed and underwhelmed by the Grand Bazaar but loved the Spice Market! Will blog tomorrow if can.

Your Turkish Adventue
Judith, I hope you get the chance to wander through the shops outside the Grand Bazaar (going toward the Spice Bazaar)...there are some wonderful bead shops where you can get beads at wholesale prices. Thanks for letting us follow along on your journey.

Hooray!
I am so glad to hear from you. It looks like the weather is good and you are having a great time. I am so happy for you. It has been very rainy and gloomy here. Of course we need the rain, but it has been kind of cold and depressing. Keep up your great travel log.

I dont know how the hell to manage this (never seen a blog before!) but am loving hearing your reports, hoping you're both feeling hearty and loving that beautiful city, and eager to hear more. All's well here. Bow wow! XX - Martha
