After arriving at the airport, we took a van to Suva. It was a 3 hour ride with crazy driving. The music was up at full volume (and a weird selection) and tail gating seems to be the norm here. Our driver would sit like half a metre behind a vehicle & as soon as there was a vaguely clear looking bit of road (not necessarily straight though) he would overtake. I finally completed my open water dive certificate at Kaikoura. The last 3 weeks it had been postphoned because of bad weather. The first day was really good, it was cold but just tolerable. The first dive was particularly enjoyable. I basically hung onto the instructor as he pulled me around the bottom of the ocean. The visibility was only about 1-1.5 metres, but I saw paua, kina, a hermit crab and a paddle crab.
