Life's a beach in Goa!

 Asia » India » Goa » Palolem
After Kathmandu, I took a flight back to Delhi and spent a week with the family who had come to visit and recuperate ready for Goa! I met Marianne at the airport and we took our Flight to Goa. The h eat struck us so hard when leaving the plane - a welcome change from the harsh coldness experienced for the past 4 weeks! We met up with Kerry and Hannah at Anjuna Beach. I felt very sick that evening due to the erratic driving of our taxi driver from the airport! But from what I could see, the buildings have [View Full Entry]

Kathamandu

 Asia » Nepal » Kathmandu » Thamal
Yet another bus journey - Chitwan to Kathamndu. Slept most of it again - girls are getting rather jealous about my ability to sleep wherever and whenever! As we were coming into Kathmandu the buildings reminded me of the flats in the suburbs in London - odd. We got to the Thamel part of Kathmandu where all the backpackers go. The lanes were full of clothes shops, internet cafes and a shed load of rootftop terraces. This was our home for the next 6 days. We met up with the Irish gang after a day and spend the next 6 days [View Full Entry]

The park is a huge and beautiful nature reserve with all sorts of animals ranging from rhinos to tigers. We got a package from Pokhara which included 2 nights stay in beautiful lodge in the middle of the park and included most of our activities. On the bus we met a whole load of irish people that were on our package - they awere a right laugh!!! [View Full Entry]

 Asia » Nepal » Pokhara
I LOVE THIS POLACE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! After leaving Varanasi, we tool a the 12.30am ( late as always) to Gorakpur, Varanasi station was no where near enough scary as the one at Agra!! Maybe we are getting used to it. We boarded the AC2 carriage and fell alseep straight away on the comfy beds. At 7pm we arrived as Gorakpur where we needed to take a 3 hour bus or jeep to the boarder town called Sunali and cross the border into Nepal. Border Crossing into Nepal From the many stories from familty and friends in India, I was expecting a [View Full Entry]

Taj by sunrise

Asia » India » Uttar Pradesh » Agra
Howdy all!! Ok so I have seen the Taj by sunrise - absolutely awesome. i have seen the Taj many times in my life but I am still amazed by the pure beauty and romance of the place! After visiting Jaipur, we made our way to Agra, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri which I a ghost town, 40km west of Agra. This is a well preserves palace building and they still have a mosque here that is used today. it was free to entire but the amopunt of beggars and people asking to be your guide was surprising ( since I'm still [View Full Entry]

Scenery on the way to Jaipur
Namaste So early Sunday morning of 20th Jan, our driver picked the girls up from the hotel and then picked me up from my aunts house at 6.30am. Rather early I must say but we had to cover some serious mileage!!! The drive was cool even the traffic became bearable! We arrived at our first stop 7 hours later, in Pushkar. The history behind this place is that people say Brahma dropped a lotus flower on the earth - and Pushkar floated to the surface. Pushkar is a Hindu pilgramiage town and so unbelievably peaceful compared to Delhi and the surrounding [View Full Entry]

Well what a hectic few this has been! After landing in Delhi on Thursday, I was picked up by family over here in Delhi. It’s absolutely crazy outside of the airport. Even though I have been here before, it still didn’t fail to stun me . . .the dust, the traffic the beggars and most of all the driving! I spend the last couple of days getting acclimatize to the culture again and the driving. We were sharing lane space (actually there is no concept of lanes here) with men on bikes with extremely long ladders as well as the normal [View Full Entry]
