Oh yes! So we arrived into Foz de Iguacu yesterday afternoon. (the Brazilian side of the falls) Now clearly we havent done much since yesterdays blogs, as we are heading off to see the falls from this side this afternoon. However, last night when I was typing them up, the Spurs vs Arsenal 2nd leg of the League Cup semi-final was on. I started to watch on the net, but then the lady was closing the shop, a bit grumpy we started walking down the street only to find a really small bar showing the game! What a result!.....the only result [View Full Entry]

JJ!! Always said whe was a legend!
Its all smiles.....
Oh dear!

(Gravely sounding voice narrates) Last time on Darrens blog.....our intrepid heroes had survived a bus trip of epic proportions, gone toe to toe with mansize cockroaches and lost half a stone of body weight sweating in the jungle! Now they face a new challenge as they arrive in Santa Cruz, deep in the south of Bolivia.....what lies in wait for them? Well as it turns out, not an awful lot. Santa Cruz was a really cool and so different to La Paz. Much much warmer, about 30 degrees and much more laid back too! We chilled out big time, especially when [View Full Entry]

Country number 4 beckons! (and cheekily in a way also country number 5) Its off to Iguasu Falls, hopefully for any of you who read the title of this blog and were thinking that I was either illiterate or really hungover....the name Igausu has cleared things up. Iguasu falls is a collection of waterfalls on the Argentinian and Brazilian border. Now to get to the Argentine side from Paraguay, you have to first pass through Brazil (no immigration required) and then into Argentina. So on arrival, us being the brilliant planners that we are, didnt bother with booking the hostel we [View Full Entry]

So i bet you're all itching to know how the 18 hour bus ride from La Paz to Santa Cruz went eh? Well funnily enough, as with most of my blogs....it wasnt quite as straight forward as you´d think! It all started 7pm at La Paz bus terminal.......(cue U.S style hazy flashback music etc) It actually started off ok, we jumped onboard and the seats reclined big time, we were all joking about travelling in style!! The overnight journey out of La Paz began as planned. Pretty much the next 12 hours were spent drifting in and out of conciousness, eating [View Full Entry]

Its now literally just Chris, Brad and me. We booked up to do a tour in the pampas, thats basically the wetlands. You can see tons of different wildlife including anacondas, caimans, birds all sorts really. It would have been really cool too, except for the fact that the runway in the pampas is flooded so day by day ouf flights [View Full Entry]

After the excitement of the Death Road, next stop was to head south towards Potosi. 1st port of call and to be fair the only reason for travelling to this small town was to make a visit to the mines. We get geared up in our helmets, overalls and wellies, give it a quick burst of the YMCA and then we are off! The mines have been open for years and it is the only industry in Potosi, they mine for silver, zinc and other minerals incase you were wondering. En route we stop to pick up gifts for the miners. Well gang, hope you all had a peaceful and tranquil christmas day....mine was anything but!! After I wrote the last travel blog, Ben, Brad, Bill and I decided we were bored and would have a couple of pre group meal "quiet" drinks. Well needless to say it was happy hour 2 for 1 on rum and cokes. We turned up late for the group meal a little worse for wear. When our food arrived i stuffed half of the green beans in my gob turned to Ben and said "do I have something in my teeth?", ala Jim Carrey in Ace [View Full Entry]

Well this will probably be my last blog of the year 2007 and to be honest, its pretty hard to even think of it being so near xmas! Since my last blog we have partied very hard in Cusco, to celebrate completing the inca trail, shocker I lost my watch as i was so hungover the next morning!! We have travelled futher south to a town called Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Since arriving we had a tuc-tuc (bicycle/rickshaw style vehicle) race to the harbour! Once we arrived we took a really really slow 3 hour boat ride to [View Full Entry]

All right, the biggy, the one i´ve been waiting for for absolutely ages...and no its not a hair cut before any of you get clever...i am of course speaking of the Inca Trail!! For those of you not familiar, the inca trail is a 40km hike to the lost city of the incas AKA Machu Picchu. It has actually also been named one of the new 7 wonders of the world. To make it easy i´ll break it down on a day to day basis for you..... Day 1 - Nothing too tough here, its about a 10km walk but the [View Full Entry]

Hola Gringo´s right lets get you all up to speed!! Ok so first things first, i´ve stuck a couple of pic´s of nazca lines and us sleeping in the desert that the naff pc wouldn´t let me post last time! So next stop on the tour was Puerto Inca, this is where the Incan kings used to go on their holidays! We camped on the beach and chilled out.....we were challenged to a game of footy by the Peruvian locals! It was hard going as we were playing on a dusty pitch, i spent quite a while in goal and got [View Full Entry]
