Ah, The memories! I just came across your blog and I must say I never tire reading about other people's adventures through Laos...especially Vang Vieng. I was just there within the last month and I had intended only spending 5 days in Laos...I ended up spending almost 2 weeks! Before I knew it, I was in Vang Vieng for a week. Those happy pizzas really do a number on you. I blogged about my adventures as well but had to modify the content as I have many family members that read it and would completely freak if they knew that I too finished my first day of tubing, wasted in the dark.
Thank you for sharing your experience and I look forward to reading more of your adventures.

...it's good to spend somtime alone ...hi Dave - it's very rewarding to spend sometime alone -not 'by yourself' type alone, but having distance between you and those around you like the culture or language barrier thing - give's one space to reflect on how one fit's in...it's a bit like putting somthing down for a while that is second nature to you -whatever that might be, like me and drums -just put them down for a while, 'cos when you pick them up again it will be a new experience -you don't loose what you had before you just find somthing else in within it -whatever it might be...
...your words and the pictures carry the peace a long way - thanks for sharring your experience - SB
Thats more like it mate! Saving lives, getting involved in james bond like situations (black jack), philosophising on culture and life, and truly mingling with the locals- i have had a very good read!

sorry i probably should have mentioned the outcome of the girl. it turned out that apparently she often does it and we saw her in the bar 2 nights later, well on her way to being in a similar state as the other night! i only hope that no one else decides to run in the sea after her in future.
awesome trip I have read you bolg by chance after searching info for my Gibbon trip. I'm actually working in Laos for almost 3 yrs. but never know that there's such an adventurous trip here in laos. It's very inspiring ....

Idylic or what Hi hon, what an amazing place! Thought you were extras in an episode of Lost!! The lights at night might be Aurora Borealis, not sure if you get them there but lights in the night sky can be that, if your in the right place. Ask around someone may know! I may be in the wrong hemisphere though! You know me, Geography was never my strong point!! Where are the pictures of the frogs?? Lizards and spiders we've had but where are the frogs, if you've been living with them then I think we should at least see a picture, you know how much we love them! Missing you loads, Love to you as always. Mum xx
