DestinationAmauta - Pacos Tacos

Pacos Tacos Welcome to my blog!, or more or less "uploading pictures page".
So far I have survived the military coup in Thailand 2006, bushfires in Australia, drugged drinks in Indonesia,
the big 2007 earthquake i Peru(I could feel the tremble in Arequipa), corrupt border police in Bolivia and demonstrations and strikes in Argentina but I will never stop traveling. But because of studies it will probable take some years before I can pack the bags again. So next stop Mexico 2012..

Colonia
Colonia
another classic car but this one was used as a restaurant table
I spent one rainy day in Colonia, Uruguay. It's just 50 minutes from Buenos aires with boat and my last thing to check off from my list of "things to do when I´m in Buenos aires" so I went over Rio de la plata with the Buquebus speed boat after a walk in Puerto Madero. But the weather in Colonia really ruined the whole thing, so I mostly walked around thinking that this would be a nice place if I were in here 6 months ago in the summertime. I went in to café instead to avoid the cold and rainy [View Full Entry]

Arriving in Puerto Iguazú just in time for the Sweden-Spain European championship football game I got a bit disappointed for their late 92nd minute winning goal, but they were the better team, at least the second half. I got some Quilmes beers at the bar and went to sleep soon after that. The bus trip from Rosario took longer time because of a truck driver strike. They had blocked 2 of the 3 lanes and the military was there to make sure that at least one lane was open so I was soo tired after the 18 hour bus trip that [View Full Entry]

Mendoza is the wine center of Argentina. Because I can easily get Mendoza wines in my city I already knew that they were great but of course I had to try them again. If I would choose a city to live in, in Argentina, it would be Mendoza. The climate is great, it´s nice and the streets are wide giving space to a lot of outdoor cafés and restaurants. It has a lot of possibilities to to things like kayaking, trekking and rock climbing and it´s strategically placed to get over to Chile and the beaches and to the Argentinian places [View Full Entry]

So Córdoba is the city of colonial architecture, universities and nightlife. I stayed in a hostel called Córdoba backpackers which turned out to be a really great place, eating in tenedor libre places (eat as much as you want) and I did some shopping. What I´ve learnt about Argentina is that the country is very modern and has a high standard of living compared to other South american countries. All the hostels have hot water, there are not so many beggers, people are educated, dress nice and a lot of people seem to know things about Sweden(not happens very often), it´s [View Full Entry]

Rosario is the city with the monument to the Argentinian flag and birthplace of Che Guevara. It's a nice place. I didn't do very much here but getting to know the city, having some steaks and spending a lot of time in the hostel. It's was really hard to do anything when the temperature went over 30 degrees. Since I had 4 months until my studies and had worked enough to save money for another trip Argentina was my obvious first choice. The friendly Argentinians I´ve met during my travels, the information, pictures, what I've heard about the steaks, wine and excellent nightlife, the football, the connections with Sweden like the big amount of immigrants, colours of the team Boca Juniors which comes from a Swedish boat, the arquitect of Casa rosada, the biggest amount of street stones in Buenos aires where carried by swedish ships from Gothenburg, the old songs by Evert Taube(Swedish singer from my [View Full Entry]

Peruvian style
Since I didn't take that many pictures this time in Peru. About 50 in 6 weeks. And most photos are taken from buses. I'll put everything from the 6th of February to the 17th of Mars here. After about 9-10 months in Peru in total I can just say that this was not the last time and I love this country. I spent most the days hanging around in Arequipa, the pool table at the irish pub and meeting some old friends and some new friends. Arequipa: I don't really have anything to write here that I havn't written before. I [View Full Entry]

Arequipa

South America » Peru » Arequipa » Arequipa
Back in Arequipa. My 2nd home here in Peru, and I still haven't gone to the Colca Canyon. But I know that I will come back. A visit to the Monasterio Santa Catalina(A small city surrounded by walls where 400-500 nuns lived isolated during the 16th centry), shopping, hanging around with some friends of a Olivia, partying and celebrating the birthday of Guiseppe (an italian owner of a lavandería in Miraflores) with the best lasagne I've ever eaten and wine was what I did the last 2 weeks [View Full Entry]

Mancora

South America » Peru » Piura » Máncora
After getting used to the 8 and 9 hour long bus rides in Peru, the 4 hour bus from Piura to Mancora passed quickly. Mancora is the most well know beach in Peru and the Limeños(people from Lima) comes here to surf. I hope I can get back and do the same some day [View Full Entry]
