| 22nd November 2009 Jodi Lynn | love the pics! - From: Summer at Home--Portland, 2009! I love all the pics thus far! I want to go get a kitty now for Conner.... :).... And I love the short hair |
| 27th April 2009 Dave G | Get over yourself Gar - From: Random Scenes from Ningbo, China! Aside from the incredible pollution and over populated cities filled with lead producing toy manufacturing companies or lead based food products, China is a really outstanding country. By the way can I park my cars in the Bird Nest? I figure it needs to be used for something now. This just in another carton of baby formula just exploded in transport from China to Europe... |
| 26th April 2009 Desi and Jill | What is going on! - From: Jill's Birthday! Jan. 2009 What are you and that other girl doing to with that poor innocent flower? |
| 20th April 2009 Desi and Jill | Sorry! - From: Random Scenes from Ningbo, China! Sorry if I have offended any readers by posting these photos. Like I have responded to this reader, we too, are (foreign) residents of Ningbo. This blog is for our families and friends to keep up with some of our adventures while we are living here. Let me add that we were enamored with this recent bike ride through a rural part of our district--and yes--surprisingly--took photos! Poverty tourism? I don't think so. In no way were we looking for it, or attempting to capture "the bad and poor side of Ningbo." Truly, it was rather tranquil and refreshing to ride through this area that is adjacent to our neighborhood. Rural areas, while they may be poor, aren't that bad. We are going to keep exploring these local, rural areas. We enjoy the serenity...and too, I know the history simply jumps out at Desi around each corner. Yes, all very intriguing, these mini-jaunts from home. Expect more photos. I will attempt the non-offensive kind. |
| 19th April 2009 Gar | dwelling on the negative - From: Random Scenes from Ningbo, China! As a longtime foreign resident of Ningbo, I must say that these photos only represent the bad, poor side of Ningbo. Sad to see poverty tourism alive and well among travelers. It's a good thing Ningbo gets very few of them. |
| 19th April 2009 Ginny | Jill and her bad-ass self - From: Random Scenes from Ningbo, China! Jill, you totally look like you're ready to go bike off and break somebody's legs in that one picture. It's hilarious. And Desi needs to raise the seat up on his bike - that can't be good for his already-wounded knees. Thanks for the pics! |
| 10th March 2009 Carlan Kephart | We are coming to teach at AIAN next year... - From: Hangzhou! Hi! I was so excited when I came across your blog because I have been dying to hear a little bit about what it is like to live in Beilun, what the apartments look like, etc. Will you be there next year as well? I will be teaching Middle School English and my husband will be teaching High School Social Studies. We are really excited, but it's daunting as well. I realize you must be very busy, but if you have a chance to respond and offer any words of advice/preparation, we would enjoy hearing from you. One question I have is, do all of the apartments in LiRen Garden have a back patio/back yard, or is it only those on the bottom floor? We have been told that is the apartment complex we'll be in. Anyway, thanks again for providing all of this great information! :) Carlan Kephart |
