Yep, we are back in Dublin and ready to get on a plane tomorrow to return home. What a trip. We have seen so much and enjoyed every bit of it. I think Jim got down and kissed the ground when we turned the car in. That driving on the wrong side of the road and the wrong side for driving, is really nerve wracking. We grazed some of those gorgeous stone walls in the small towns and shot into and around the round abouts so fast I thought we were going to be propelled to the moon......but we made it in one piece, although I am sure on the today's video there is a couple of times you can hear me say "too close, too close". But it sure has been fun. Wouldn't mind making ... read more

I know it has been a couple of days since I last wrote, but we have stayed in hotels that didn't have internet. Go figure! anyway, we left Belfast and made our way along the A2 -coastal highway to the giant's causeway. This is rock formations that they believe were caused by volcanic eruptions. It was gorgeous, windy, and we walked as far up the trail as we could until the trail ended due to a recent rock slide. I hope you enjoy the pictures. We then drove down to Dungannon which is where the ancestry records were supposed to be kept. Turns out it is only a little hole in the wall office that is not manned all the time, as the guy goes to Belfast to get records.......so go figured that we were right ... read more

Here are a few more pictures of our day. It is now raining.......so call us wooses, but that rain is like someone throwing a bucket of ice chips at you. The tour bus was so good and the guide had such knowledge, don't know that we need to see anything else, hehe. ... read more

Hi, we are in Belfast, got here yesterday. Since I keep getting bounced off the internet, I am putting just a little bit on this blog and then ending e-mails with longer text. Today we took the 1.5 hr tour bus and it was very interesting. We passed through an area that has a wall that opens at 7a and closes at 6p. If you live within the wall you are of the Catholic faith. It is amazing that in this day and age of the 21st century people still live like that. One side of the street is Protestant and the other side is Catholic. Although the tour guides are quick to add that everyone has been working very hard at a whole country continuity, with this wall in plain site, it does make you ... read more

Well here we are in Dublin on the 26th. We arrived on the 24th amid rain and cold weather. For some reason this free internet is throwing me off and I am losing all of my narrative as well as pics, so I am not going to say too much. Before we left Edinburgh we saw the Queen's vacation ship, the Britannia and I have included pics. I have a hard time believe all of those grandchildren of hers would just run around that ship. Seems too oppulent. Yesterday we went to only one thing in Dublin and that was the Jameson Distillery............important place. Good our and bought a few goodies to remember the place. heheh Today we saw Christ Church and Dublinia.......which is a recreation of when the Vikings were in Dublin and it was ... read more

Hey everyone, back from another busy day. We went to Edinburgh Castle. What a place. It was very interesting and our guide had been there for 18 years, so he was able to give us a lot of information. One interesting point is that US prisoners of war were held there in the lower confines of the Castle.........today was cold and windy, can't imagine what it was like for prisoners. Also visited the Holyrood Palace which is where Queen Elizabeth will retire to from Buckingham Palace during the summer. We were able to see the King's bedroom, meeting rooms where the present Queen meets and greets dignitaries. Then we visited the Abbey just outside of the Palace with all kinds of tombstones and great windows. For those that don't know, I like to take pictures of ... read more

WOW, has it been trouble trying to find someplace to finally get on line. Short of camping out at a McDonald's, the hotels have been a bear. We finshed our trip to London and arrived in Edinburgh Scotland this afternoon. BofA new terminal is big and has enough staff to take care of an entire airport on their own. Luggage came through, thankfully. We are amazed at how old Edinburgh is. Our hotel is right in the middle of the historic area. We are at the Holiday Inn Express, room 307 (44 0 131 558 2300). Will be out of room from abut 8:30a to 6p. Our plane was about 1.5 hrs late getting into Edinburgh, so didn't get to walk around before we had dinner. It is very, very cold, just above freezing. Needless to ... read more

We arrived safely, cold, cold, cold. Had this all done and then system blew it out. Have about 20 mins to add some pics. First room at hotel was atrocious - Hotel Canada! Had this place beat. Got new room.......great! Saw a lot so far, walked a gazillion miles, feet sore. May not be able to add any more to blog.........we believe we packed the adaptors, but cannot find them, so have nothing to hook this up to or anything else we brought along electrical. Am trying a store tomorrow that may be able to help us out. Here are some pics. ... read more
