Had enough of the New Zealand Winter and was hanging to meet the newest edition to our family, so packed my bags for the sunny Gold Coast, but not without a hitch. After a few distractions and beer along the way, we finally made it to wellington and checked into a not so nice hostel called Rowena's place. it did the trick though. We had drinks in our room beforing hitting town. Spent most of the night in Shooters bar which was a replica of the Shooters saloon bar and the Gold Coast (memories!!). Well what a bonus to stumble upon the Tui Brewery on the way down to Wellington. I woke from my coma in the back seat and joined in the fun. For $10 you get a taste of 3 beers and a glass to take home, as well as a tour and history lesson! Awesome. Amy was stoked as usual as she loves her beer. Tara, Amy and I packed our bags and headed off in Tara's Toyota Starlett Turbo (Thank God) on a 4 day trip to the bottom off the North island and back. We stayed at Tara's Auntie's place in Taupo on Thursday night and then got up and drove to Napier. Napier is a city that was destroyed by an massive earthquake in the 1930's. The damage was quite extensive and they had to rebuild the whole town. Art Deco style was in fashion in this era and they rebuilt the whole town in this style.
