we travelled down the national road towards barcelona ...near Girona we started to see semi naked prostitutes standing or sitting onchairs by the roadway...we new times were tough here but this is looking really bad. These girls were all about 20 and some had no undies on ..it was extroadinary and suddenly Denis welcomed his arrival in spain and for once it wasnt about food!!!!!Last night went to watch madrid and barcelona play football in a restaurant surrounded by spaniards that hated madrid..an exciting game that was a draw in the end...we were barricking along with the locals..we got to the camp late and were locked out so we had to jump a verrrry big fence pissed...how ridiculous..this morning we are lethargic and just hoping the CCTV was not on!!!The beach here at Blanes is superb and ... read more

We set off from Levanto in good spirits but a little pressure was on as we had lost all our xmas bookings in Austria and all the campsites were closing but we made a quick websearch of the timeshares and there was one in Hyeres near Toulon for a week on the 22nd.We stayed in San remo one night and that was amazing ..that town,Nice and monte Carlo are all very chic and expensive..Denis was hoping to get to the Casino but sadly( thank god for that) we had to continue.Hyeres is a gorgeous medieval town with a port also and our studio was looking over the marina..the temp down here is about 14 degrees with sunny days .We have even sat on the beach. We drove St Tropez where bridgit bardot lived for years and that ... read more

Austria for two days.......it wasnt meant to be this short. We set off from venice hoping to make it to Seeboden for the night. The journey was uneventful and not scenic till you get over the austrian border at Villach when the mountains start to loom.We missed the turn off to seeboden so we went to Gemund..a beautiful little walled town and Ruby had to suck in her tummy to fit thru the archway to enter the town.We found a lovely wooden gasthof..with fluffy dooners and a lot of stuffed austrian animals and spent the night..our first in pension. The next day we set off to the timeshare in Grundlesee.... and Vienna for Xmas..on the motor way after 50kms it gently started snowing..this got heavier and by the time we turned off at Radstadt ..the snow was thick..I was ... read more

The campsite is at Fusina a crummy port that looks over the lagoon to Venice.we got there quite late and it was foggy the next morning we woke up to a most beautiful red sky and the floating town looming in the mist.We hopped on the ferry so excited ...Its hard to unravell the superlatives for this place its like nowhere else on earth.I am currently reading the city of falling angels..john berendt who makes the town and its people come alive. The ferry landed and we raced to the acedemia bridge over the grand canal and stood there gobsmacked for sometime..its an awesome sight ..the gondolas.the churches, the little bridges, the eerie singing of the gondoliers as they row people around the canals..only the asians at present they must be loaded...no one else can afford the gondolas. We ... read more

Travelling from Germany across the Alps into Austria then Italy has to be one of the great drives of the world. The scenery is awesome!!!You cant imagine how they built those roads that carve their way thru those huge mountains. We arrive in Bolzano in the area known as The Tyrol..where everything seems Austrian. It was owned by Austria before he war then after became Italy but someone forgot to tell the residents.Yesterday we had a coffee and a splendid piece of Linzer cake that I must learn how to cook...and stumbled upon a strange sect dressed in knickerbockers, green shirts, red vests and a black hat with a white feather..they all looked jolly enough but apparently they were disliked by Mussolini and banned but since the 60"s they have risen and they are PROUD.I do think their clobber needs a ... read more

This is a surprise ,considering The commies only left in 98..itnow looks so stylish and cultured. Its not really cheap like some had said..in fact Germany is cheaper...but these guys are switched on.Alot of people speak english which makes it easier to negotiate..and there is music EVERYWHERE.Last night we went to hear some Mozart and Vivaldi in a lovely old theatre..it was magic. It feels like the 30s here so much Cubinism,I really feel I should have a blonde wig ,red lipstick and wear a beret!!! The days amble by here..denis found a dentist had 3 extractions and a top denture for $300..no pain too and plenty of aenesthisia..those Ozzie dentists need to be overhauled!! Today went for a drive to warm up the car its been zero the last 2 days..got picked up by police who were ... read more

Celebrated our last night in Dartmoor going out for Steves58th at the Princehall hotel ...it was a sumptuous experience and sooo british but the company made it. Went to Brighton en route to dover and loved it ..full of young people and lots of energy Set off from the cliffs of Dover on a midnight ferry like gap year people do trying to save money!!! When we got to Calais we parked in a supermarket carpark to sleep and woke surrounded by shoppers the next day..its rough on the bladder girls having to wait till tthe shop opens. Set off to Reims which took in the Somme and there were endless cemetries with the dead soldiers reminding me how stupid men and wars are.We skipped Belgium Denis said because Jill said they were all fat and ... read more

Before entering Cornwall we went to Totnes in devon an old hippie town..and most of them havent changed since the 70"s but we loved it..indulged in vegetarian foods of course..checked out lots of tie dye..yes I know I am not allowed to but them steph but they look soooo good on me!!! We stayed in agreat campsite in town with no electric hook up..our old van was pushed out of view away from the grander motorhomes. We crossed the Tamar river and set across Bodmin moor on invite to a party in medieval tents with lots of home brew and acoustic music. We hada great time with Dave and Laura watching them play and also the mighty Mex Merrick. They have some great people down there and Denis ended up behind the bar AGAIN.
