Today is officially our last day in London and the UK. We have called this British Isle home for the last 3 weeks. As much as I have loved London I am ready to move on, however Tom would like to stay a little longer. Echoing what we have said before, there is just so much to see and only one pair of legs each albeit tired ones at that! Our last day was partly spent downstream at the O2 Arena viewing the ‘Body Worlds’ exhibition (http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html). This was very confronting and amazing at the same time. I have been following [View Full Entry]

It was our last day on the road so to speak. We were handing back the car, or Holly as well called it due to the sat nav voice. We named it Holly as it reminded us of Holly from Red Dwarf! We packed up our belongings, said goodbye to the lady at the hotel whom we had had a big chat with the day before, and headed off for Windsor Castle. The plan was to drive the 1.5hr drive to the castle, explore around, drive to Heathrow airport and drop the car back then pick up our airport transfer that [View Full Entry]

It was a slow start this morning, our big days had finally caught up with us and we succumbed to the snooze button and had ourselves a little sleep in, however holiday sleep ins are not like the weekend ones we would have at home. We were up by 9am and ready by 10am to go castle exploring around the Salisbury shire. On the way out we met a lovely hotel staff member. We saw a sign regarding leaving keys at the counter. Now as we had to leave our keys at the desk in Rome we thought we had better [View Full Entry]

I am writing this blog in the car park of Hadrian’s Wall Hallstead another part of the wall. You may ask yourself what is Deb doing at 2.30pm typing a diary entry when she should be out exploring the wall? Let me paint you a picture. The temperature gauge on the car states 9 degrees unfortunately it doesn’t tell you the wind chill factor or the speed of the wind. I am guess 1 degree or less for wind chill and at least 50km hour winds however this may vary from 50 to 70 when the wind picks up. Before you [View Full Entry]

We set off today to drive around the Lakes District and the first thing that comes to mind is crazy, narrow roads! If you have driven around Gaston Gorge in Sydney, Jenolan Caves or Myall Lakes you still won’t get an exact picture of what these roads are like. These roads make them look like 4 laned highways! Nuts is all I can say. Many times we had to flip in our side mirrors to be able to fit 2 cars past and let me tell you seeing buses try and maneuver around some of these little roads, I have no [View Full Entry]
