Hello all - Dave here with a very very brief blog to bring us up to date. Gaps may or may not be filled in later - we'll see. Since the last blog we left Vic Falls for the last 3 weeks in Africa - 2 of which were with the overland tour, but with 15 new people and 10 old guys. The dynamic on the bus was different - but still good & we spent a fun few days on Lake Malawi before ending up on Zanzibar. After a few days in a cool beach resort we bid farewell to [View Full Entry]

Hi Dave here. Long time - no blog! We've now been in Africa for nearly 4 weeks and the main reason for the blogging tardiness is that everywhere we've been the internet is eye gougingly slow. We're currently in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe where the connection is marginally better so it's time for a long overdue update. No pictures here - but I'll add some when we get home in a few weeks. So what have we been up to since the last blog way back in Queensland? First up we flew from Cairns to Alice Springs where we hired a car [View Full Entry]

OK - Dave here with a very short summary of what we've been up to since the last blog. It's really Tracey's turn - but she's busy uploading loads of pictures, so I thought I'd add a few words. We've basically hired a car and done a big loop north from Cairns up to Cape Tribulation and then as far south as Mackay. Highlights of this time would include from N to S... - Cape Tribulation - Very scenic tropical area. About as far as the sealed road goes. Reminded me of Hawaii - very green with good beaches and views. [View Full Entry]

Burnt a load of photos today so thought I'd do a pictorial blog for a change. Dave's done a short update as well so check that out for what we've been up to. [View Full Entry]

Hello people. Dave here once again for another quick update & to add a few pictures from Asia. As the keen eyed amongst you will have detected from the blog title we are now once again back in Australia - the 3rd (& final) time we've been here on this trip! Feels pretty good to be back at the moment - I guess it remains to be seen whether that's just a reaction to not being in Asia, or whether the place is growing on us! We arrived back in Darwin at Stupid O'Clock (4.30am) on Saturday. It was far too [View Full Entry]

A big "sawa dee kaaaa" from Tracey in Chiang Mai. We've been in Thailand for three weeks now and have another week and a bit to go. While it's undoubtedly a beautiful place, it's definitely not without its frustrations and irritations. And unless this is the first blog of mine you've read, then you should know by now that I cannot abide being irritated. Taxi drivers (1) Please do not toot at me. I do NOT respond to tooting. If I need a taxi I will flag one down. Your tooting will only annoy me and make me scowl at you. [View Full Entry]

Taxi for Mr Ellis!

Asia » Thailand » South » Ko Samui
OK people, Dave here with my thoughts on Asia thus far. We've been here for just over a month now and are currently busy doing something close to nothing on Ko Samui! Out time so far has been split between exploring cities (Singapore, Melaka, Kuala Lumpar, George Town) & relaxing on a series of beautiful islands (Tioman, Pangkor, Phuket, Ko Samui) - all whilst sweating profusely at even the slightest exertion. I was hoping that I'd eventually get used to the heat & in a way I guess I am - as walking down the street drenched with sweat seems perfectly [View Full Entry]

Well, here we are, two weeks into our Asia leg. It's going okay so far and we’re managing to get around easily enough, but it’s so different to everywhere else we’ve been so far and so HOT! We spend our days battling with the heat for a while before admitting defeat and diving into somewhere, anywhere, with air-con. Meanwhile everyone else around us is serenely strolling along with barely a bead of sweat upon their brow. Surely we’ll acclimatise soon - won’t we? Anyway, perspiration issues aside (can any new parents enlighten us by the way? I think [View Full Entry]

G'Day all - Dave here with a final update on Australia. Tracey’s current entry has covered what we’ve been up to & where we’ve been since the last blog - so I won’t replicate any of that. I just wanted to sum up my thoughts on Australia before we depart for Asia, because as you may recall from my previous blog entry I was a little disillusioned with Oz about the time we arrived in Adelaide. In a nutshell the good includes: Aussie cities are pretty cool; there are some gorgeous beaches down the south NSW coast; Tasmania is excellent; Triple [View Full Entry]

Tracey here for an update of what we've been doing since Dave's last entry. It's been quite a while since I added anything to our blog and I have to say I'm feeling a little left out! Adelaide to Dubbo What can you really say about two days spent driving 1,250kms on dead straight roads across flat, red landscape? Not much as it happens - two extremely dull days of "Are we there yet?", and "How far to go now?" and: "I spy with my little eye something beginning with N..." "Nothing?" "Yep. Your go...." Still, at least we didn't hit [View Full Entry]
