It`s quite sad what u`r writing and can hardly beleive it, to be honest. Coz @ is mainly about leadership and leaders not to know what leadership is ...that gives u a lot to be concerned about... but u didn`t quite finish your thoughts on that one, go on, I wanna know how it ends. Besos Mona |

| 29th September 2007 Silviana | a bit late for comments - From: Death of culture...Europe...another sad discovery. Hi Danny... Thank you for sending me the link to you page. Nice post, I like it very much, though I mus disagree with the conclusions. I believe culture is changing, in deed. We can dream and be melancholic about the past times, decades ago, when the local culture of each country was not only strong, but also different. But we can also enjoy the present and whatever the future might bring to us. Now I am amazed how I can so easily communicate with people from all over the world. It's a part of my job to do so, and I must say I do appreciate all the instruments that can make the world smaller, bring people closer. They know the same products, have now similar habits, and speak the same language. And most importantly, after you get to talk with them, you discover how different they are, and you start to feel again the local flavor of their cultures. |

| 9th September 2007 andruitza | miss u - From: ONE YEAR !!!! Canada !!! as I told you is nice to know that you are thinking at us as much as we are thinking at you! miss u and hope to see you soon! |

| 4th September 2007 Ferney | Exchange - From: Death of culture...Europe...another sad discovery. hello Danny I want to add a comment: when u r making a interneship u r doing an exchange which exchange? ur culture with the culture the host country, may be the culture where u r not offer u that u want but u can offer them, that they didn't think to see, ur own culture then u r teaching!!!! very good point of view |
| 3rd September 2007 Dannyintheworld | - From: Death of culture...Europe...another sad discovery. Hey Mona, thanx for the comment:) It is true, we still have culture shocks but they are not determined as much of the culture, the culture shock is more or less determined by family and the fact that you are "not home". :) MISS U girl ;) |
| 3rd September 2007 mona | there`s some truth in what you`re saying... - From: Death of culture...Europe...another sad discovery. very sad conclusions, my friend...very sad, indeed! you are right from some points of view, it is about globalization and loosing our roots and traditions and cultural feeling...I think I know where you`re hinting...I had 2 traineeships and one was in the Asian part of Turkey with very powerful religious and traditional values still kept these days and the 2nd in a Latin country where the cultural shock stuck me deeply and sharply :)))....but still I think a Romanian in London/ Paris/Berlin/Budapest still has cultural shocks, even if not on a big, major scale and maybe not vey profound and life-changing, but still, just the fact that you`re away from home and have to manage on your own is still a huge challenge. I think the fact that almost anyone can speak some English or some other wide-spread language is a big PLUS for the mankind and it`s only normal that in the 21st century it`s so much easier to manage ourselves in countries where we can`t speak the language. I`m gonna read your article one more time now to see if I get the entire picture of what you`re saying. Anyhow, definitively you can`t compare a traineeship in Europe-so local :), with a roughly similar culture to one in Asia or Africa or S/N America! |
| 2nd September 2007 Andra | :) - From: Death of culture...Europe...another sad discovery. Foarte interesant articolul... poop |
| 14th August 2007 Rral | I'll tell you what I've done - From: What would you do??? Well, Danny, I've been thinking at the same think: that when you are in an AIESEC simulation, you never expect it to happen to you. I've got lost here, in Brazil, not knowing the language, the bus, the bus station, the direction, etc. At least I knew I had to go to Rui Barbosa street. A lady saw that I was lost, waiting in a random bus station a bus that would never pass that way, realized that I was a foreigner and did the best she could to help me. What could she do if I didn't know the language (you can hardly find people on the street knowing English)? Well, she let pass by her bus 3 times and, with big efforts understood what on Earth I was looking for. She only left after she made sure that I got up in a bus which took me close to my destination. Man, it was diffidcult! |
| 23rd July 2007 Dannyintheworld | - From: after 3 weeks of running...Lithuania Hey Mona, is not worst than Romania, only the level of conferences is not that high, As a country Lithuania looks better than Romania, but still there are no mountains and sometimes it seems so empty... | 27th March 2007 pink mona | yes, you might be right... - From: Global Network I like your thoughts in this entry, obviously we can`t be all connected ( there are more than 6 billion people on Earth), but it`s really really nice when you meet people from very remote corners of the world and you have some commun acquintances, it is great and indeed gives you the feeling that somehow we are all connected at some level or at least gives you the strong sensation that the world is tiny and at your fingertip and this gives you great strength to pursue your dreams. So, how`s Poland? Keep those entries coming!!!!!It looks like a new adventure has just begun :)). |
| 24th March 2007 Sarah M. | So glad to hear you're doing well... - From: Here i go again, Life on the run Hey Dan, I'm so sad that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye before you left Calgary...yet I'm really glad to hear that life is good for you again...you know, if you even feel tempted to move your adventures a few hundred miles down south to the caribbean...make sure to let me know and so we'll try to meet again...until then...enjoy, learn and remember to be thankful...! |

| 23rd March 2007 Diana | Good Luck - From: Here i go again, Life on the run Hey Danny, that's so cool that you get to travel again..and go to more @ conferences!!! | 20th March 2007 pink mona | looking good! - From: Oh, Romania ! My very first remark- looking good! Not the country, I mean you :PPP. Now, about the Hungarians living in Transylvania, there has always been a debate on that, but I can honestly say, as I was born there and lived there and have many relatives there, that the Hungarian community living in Transilvania is really nice, the people are very friendly and always ready to help, all the talk is basically only politics, trying to divide and to make a mess out of things, serving political purposes, with no grounds whatsoever!!Pls try to update more often and have a whale of a time in Poland!! |
| 9th March 2007 Ania | Home, sweet home - From: HOME after 6 months Danny Dannitto! Just got back to Poland yesterday... Huh surprisingly I could sign under your post sooo many times, well, hello, welcome home;-) my cat ignored the fact I'm back and didn't even show up, bastard! -the jet lag caused insomnia so I'm grumpy since haven't sleep to much -my room is a storage for all the garbage in the house, am trying to stuff it even more with my overweight luggage -my parents both have flu now so I'm running around with hot soup and tea -it's raining -I have 125 euro less in my pocket since the customs officers decided to check my luggage and didn't like the fact that I'm smuggling Canadian electronics into the magic Union (they were kinda cute though) -They lost my luggage in London so am wandering around the house in Mum's pants So, life is good! Good to be back. Anyway, great idea with this blog, keep it on! |
| 28th February 2007 pink mona | :) good to see you made it home safe and sound :) - From: HOME after 6 months Back home! :) :( I know the feeling and the return cultural shock you`re going through, public clerks` rudeness, taxi driviers ripping you off, sad mourning-like faces everywhere..in a way I understand, but it`s something I know I couldn`t live with...all I can say is Good luck, hang in there and you`ll do just fine! Besos! Mona. |
