I haven't given you a tour of Rexford's Shepherd's Staff project, so I'm going to just post pictures this time... [View Full Entry]

The Houston House
Isn't  this beautiful?
The first of two living rooms;

(The Shepherd’s Staff) Hey, Dorothy, we’re in Kansas! And it’s certainly different than any place we’ve visited so far….but haven’t I said that at every place we’ve visited so far! We only have three couples right now, as the other two have medical situations which will delay them a week or two; Glenn and Joyce are the leaders, and we originally worked with them in British Columbia, at Ness Lake; Wilmer and Marilyn worked with us last January through March, in Florida. The other two couples are new to us. Shepherd’s Staff is a ministry [View Full Entry]

This is how dirty Bob and Wilmer
And this is how they got that way!
Thinking about working;

If it’s September, we must be on the road! We’re headed to Rexford, Kansas, by the way of Mt. Rushmore. We spent several days in Rapid City, where we haven’t been since our girls were in junior high. Two things come to mind: things have really changed in Rapid City, and we must be getting old. Both of those thoughts are ok with me! The weather was windy and rainy (is this the summer for that???) so we didn’t do a lot of looking around, but we did spend most of a day at Mt Rushmore. They have developed it [View Full Entry]

What a great summer this has been for us, and I hope you as well. The theme for it would have to be "Friends and Family", because we were fortunate enough to spend lots of time with both groups. We spent most of June visiting around, and then had a wonderful family reunion, and finally settled in Dickinson so Bob and Jean could begin destroying and rebuilding. During the time they were doing that, Bob and I attended his class reunion, and then two weeks later Jean and I attended ours~~40 year reunions are the best, because there's just no pretences! That's Hannah udder the cow.
And then Sara came!

Jean’s House (aka: Antelope Creek Kennels) It’s the middle of July, we’re half way through summer, and this is the first time I’ve blogged since we left project; it’s like starting a Christmas letter~~I’m wondering where to begin! Since leaving Ohio we’ve visited all our kids (they’re all great, and the grandkids are extra-great!), had a family reunion on Bob’s side of the family (a remarkable time to see the young kids, now married with kids of their own~~which leaves us as the older part of the family…how did that happen s [View Full Entry]

Another reminder that Montana is God's country!
The old kennel...

Throughout the year I've taken pictures of water towers that I thought were interesting. Most of them got deleted, but here are some of the others. I also began to take pictures of town signs and slogans ("Place where everyone is a friend"; "Where the people are as welcoming as the scenery"...etc. ) But it got to where we had to go back to get the picture, because it wasn't predictable where the sign would be. Bob got impatient, and I lost interest (both occurred at nearly the same time!) Besides, where would I draw the line~~I could see that I'd [View Full Entry]

Nappanee, Indiana.
Knoxville, Tennessee..
Miami...

We are at the end of this project, and like the end of all of them, at this point it feels like it just rushed to this day. We’ve been waiting and waiting for the day when we’d get to go home and see the kids (read: grandkids!) and then all of a sudden it’s tomorrow, and there are things that we didn’t get done, or didn’t get to do yet. But the main thing is that tomorrow we’re leaving, and heading home! The men have finished the floor, except for grouting the last little bit. They laid nearly 5000 [View Full Entry]

Doing farm worK
Ohio at its finest!
Do we look like sailors?!

(Canaan Acres Christian Camp) The men were scheduled to take up some of the carpet in the dining hall and lay tile, but when we got here there was a leak in a water pipe between the rvs, so they ended up digging down to the main pipe, draining the water (their water table is about a foot deep around here!) and then repairing, replacing, remodeling the system. And then filling in the hole. It turned into about four full days (and evenings) of work! Two of the guys did get the floor project going, and they did get the water [View Full Entry]

Bird watching.
Tour lunch...
The end of the first digging episode…

(Canaan Acres Christian Camp) We’re in Ohio, where it’s so green it nearly hurts your eyes! Not all of the trees are leafed out yet (which definitely raises issues with my sinuses!) but those that are have so many different shades of color. And there are so many trees blooming that even the locals don’t seem to know the names of all of them! But first, let’s talk about the trip up here~~we came from an area about 100’ elevation to mountains…the Appalachian Mountains to be exact. You’ve heard of the Blue Ridge Mountains? They are. Just as [View Full Entry]

Does this say "Put me on a postcard"?
Sounds like an easy place to live!
Outdoor meeting...

(Washington DC) We stayed in a state park just in Maryland~~don’t be misled, that’s only 35 minutes from DC! People in Montana have farms that are bigger than the states on this side of the country! You can drive through some states, some from north to south, and some from east to west, in an afternoon! We drove into the city the first day. The train goes there, and we intended to take it, but that morning we changed our minds and drove. It was Saturday, with not a lot of traffic going into DC, and we didn’t have too [View Full Entry]
