Floating Island
still floatin....

Yea! Finally some pics of my trip to Peru and Bolivia. The program ends 4 weeks from this coming saturday, so things are getting pretty sad around here and busy...with finals coming up! That of course DOESNT stop the students from having their, pretty much, weekly protests! Im glad Im graduating cause it would be depressing going back to college in the states where classes are never cancelled for days at a time because of protests! ps..there will be 2 new listings. this one is for Peru (lima, cuzco and aguas calientes) and Machu Picchu. The next is for Lake Titicaca [View Full Entry]

Who thought camping was the way to go?

Welcome to the south pacific and quite possibly the greatest place on earth!! Easter island is not only known to be the most isolated place in the world, as it is farther from another "mainland" than any other place in the world!!!!!!! So when we are talking south pacific...we´re definitely talking south..and definitely talking pacific! On the island one feels the most isolated that one ever could being in an inhabited area! Weds- Lauren, Sarah, Elsie, Laura and I headed out from Santiago to Isla de Pascua! We arrived at 8pm, its two hours behind Chile. We were greeted with "leis" [View Full Entry]

SOOO Wendy just called me, my Hispanic Studies advisor from LC. I had a twenty minute Oral Proficiency Exam, to finish up my hispanic studies major, supposedly I was supposed to have taken it before I left but she forgot to tell me that, hence she forgot to give it to me. It consisted of speaking in Spanish, of course, and which was fine since I have been speaking it straight for the past 4 months. Anyways it consisted of questions, situations, etc. I was a lil nervous cause I get tested, and the results go on my resume, to show [View Full Entry]

So I can't believe that we are in May already! Things have been going great here and Im sad that we only have 2 months left cause the time is going to fly by! On May 18th to the 23rd I will be at Easter Island, "Isla de Pascua" a.k.a. "El ombligo del mundo"--The belly button of the world!!!! which Im very excited about because its one of the most remote places in the world, 5 1/2 hours off the coast of Chile. We are going to be camping on the beach and renting a car so that we can check [View Full Entry]

So today was my first day teaching English (ingles)(profesora-teacher) at Ruben Castro Colegio--they even call me profesora which is pretty cool!!! I have a classroom of 15 students, ages 14-15 years old. A few of them speak conversation english, half the class speak more or less, a few words here or there. The rest not a word. So it was quite interesting to deal with those who could answer my questions and those who couldnt, as I tried to speak very little Spanish to them so that they can get used to hearing and speaking only in English. They all learn [View Full Entry]
