Heyyyy everyone! We're back in Athens. I'm actually quite happy to be back in the city. :) Yesterday we climbed up 999 stairs up to Palamidi which is an old stone fort type thing that Kolokotroni was held in prison. It was not at all hard on the legs, surprisingly! We also walked down the 999 steps. Afterwards we took the bus to Epidavro to see the ancient theatre. For dinner we met up with the family that took us to Kandila. And surprise! Another bus ride this morning, but to take us back into ATHENS! [side note: I love my [View Full Entry]

HI everyone! We're currently in Nafplio -- this is our first full day here. Last night we arrived here about 7pm after: taxi bus boat bus bus yuck. the last bus we barely had any AC on and it was packed. We're staying in a really cute hotel, but i wouldn't exactly call it that. It used to be the apt/house of the current owner, and she made it into a hotel. There are exactly 5 rooms. Well, today is our last day in Zakynthos. We've been basically eating. And going to the pool and ocean. And then eating ... and then pool or ocean... and then eating some more. And some sleep in there once in a while. I think my body is starting to reject the sun because I don't think I have ever been out in the sun for so many days in a row practically all day...ever. So my last entry just got published today because I only managed to save it before time ran out on the internet here. But yeah! Nothing to add really .... we've been eating and going to the pool and beach. We tried to see the turtles here yesterday, but no luck. We did, however, get to see the Kantathes (sp?!?!) ...the strolling minstrel type singers/musicians that are special to Zakythos. They were amazing! And there was a violinist, too. Last time I updated I was in Athens, I believe! We ended up having a great time with family friends that evening. It was so neat to meet my Yiayia's friend. The next morning we woke up and went shopping. Later we went to Syntagma Square and got to see the changing of the guards. Afterwards, we ate and shopped at Plaka. Family friend time again, we met up for ice cream. THis place had a nice night view of the Acropolis. :) The next day we woke up and left for Zakythos at 11. So this morning we grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel (and of course my birthday Starbucks coffee) and headed off to the Parthenon! It's about 100 degrees here so it's VERY warm and climbing up a huge mountain ... great! Haha ignore my sarcasm -- it really was amazing. :) I forgot my camera cord in my room and don't want to lose this computer, but hopefully I will be able to upload some photos. Well! We're here. We are currently in Athens ... we got to the hotel around 7.30, which gave us enough time to settle in our rooms, shower, and off to dinner around 10pm! Real dinner time around here. :) I don't have much else to report, seeing that we've only been here for a few hours. The hotel is really cute. Tomorrow morning we're heading out to see the Acropolis (which, btw, we have an awesome view of from bar/pool which is on the top level of our hotel).
