Day 6 - Trip to the North So we all climbed in the bus and headed north to Hue (pronounced Hway). This is the former capital of Vietnam. The current capital is Hanoi. We visited the mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc, one of the many emperors of the Nguyen dynasty. It was a very beautiful place. We then headed to the Thien Mu Pagoda which is the most important pagoda of Vietnam. It was high above the river. It was also a beautiful place to visit. Day 4 & 5 - Building The School First of all, as soon as we got to the hotel everyone had already had dinner and it was time to go to the technical college nearby to talk with tourism students so off we went. We had about 8 students in my class. The Vietnamese don’t show much emotion so we had a little course about emotions. When to smile, when to be sad and what your expressions should convey when you speak. Day 3 - HoChiMinh City (Saigon) We picked up two very tired girls and headed to our hotel. We got up this morning to explore the city. It is crazy here. I have never seen so many scooters on the road in my life. Our hotel is along a very busy street and watching the traffic from our balcony is like watching a well choreographed ballet. Taxis, scooters, buses and people weave across the streets with a strange calmness. Horns are blaring but that is to only notify each other of where the other one is. It’s crazy! Day 1 & 2 - Hong Kong Well I’ve finally got some time to sit down and get some things on my blog. Our first day was pretty much spent on airplanes. 2 hours to Vancouver BC with a few hours layover then 14 hours to Hong Kong. As we began our landing into Hong Kong we have a screen we can watch to check the altitude, weather, etc. So we were about 500 feet up and it was 78 degrees, as soon as we landed it was 81 degrees.
