After taking the 30 hour train ride from Beijing to UB, a driver and translator picked us up from the train station and drove us 90 minutes to the Terelj Hotel in the Terelj National Park. We visited in mid September and the Terelj Hotel was at it's quietest. We only stayed for two nights and on the second night I believe we were the only people there. It made for an eerie stay. My girlfriend is a very well traveled person, having been to more than 60 countries on 5 different continents but even she was at a loss for what to expect during our 5 days in Beijing. The fact that virtually no Chinese speak English and that we certainly do not speak Chinese was going to make for an interesting trip. In early October of this year my girlfriend and I decided on a spur of the moment trip to Bogota, Colombia. We live in Chicago and were able to see Depeche Mode in concert at Lollapalooza.
