These are all the places I've been that I can remember. Note the green countries I am going to later this year, unfortunately, I don't have anywhere planned at the moment, but a return trip to Turkey or a new one to India has been talked about.

My name is Curtis Hanson and currently a student at Oregon Institute of Technology in Portland, Oregon. I am 27 and travel as often as I can. Have currently been to 29 countries and 25 states; and have lived in the US (currently), South Korea, and Germany. Sally and I returned from our trip to Thailand and Cambodia in September and had a phenomenal time. I am planning a trip to either India or Turkey now. Turkey would be a return trip but I would check out the places I missed in the past. India is where I really want to go but after pricing flights, it looks like I might have to put that one off for a year or so.

Hi, my name is Sally and I am an Environmental Program Coordinator for a lovely suburb of Portland, Oregon. Unlike my travel buddy Curtis, I am happily involved with a wonderful man named Zeb! Curtis and I have been travel buddies for years and I expect that this trip to Thailand will be just as fun and as eventful as our past adventures. Though the events in Thailand are a little sketchy at the moment, backpackers in the area are reassuring us that traveling is fine....let's hope so. I look forward to sharing our adventure with you all.

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 FINALLY - This vacation is beginning to feel like a VACATION! After an exhaustive 2 weeks of hiking through Thailand and Cambodia, we have finally arrived on the island of Ko Samui in the south of Thailand. Marking the final leg of our trip, these final days are dedicated to sitting on the beach, working on our tans, watching the waves roll in, and most important, RELAXING! We arrived, via ferry, from Surat Thani, in the mid-afternoon. It occurred to us on the ferry that we could no longer put off our decision and needed to decide [View Full Entry]

Friday, September 12th, 2008 To begin with, Curtis' ankle is doing much better. Most of the swelling has receded and the bruising is virtually non-existent. We began this leg of our trip at the Hualamphong Train station where we opted to go north after learning the south trains were not running due to a three week long worker's strike in support of the PAD. We chose a sleeper train (highly recommended) and head up over the evening. Sally, still sick from whatever she ate slept immediately while Curtis finished reading "Me Talk Pretty Oneday" by David Sedaris. Good recommendation [View Full Entry]

September 8th, 2008 Where to begin? We began our trip to Cambodia at the Hualamphong Train Station in Bangkok where we purchased our bus tickets. Curtis, being the ever punctual man that he is, had us showing up 30 minutes prior to our departure time. Sadly, we forgot that all of Thailand is on "Asian" time and ended up sitting there waiting for nearly an hour before our bus showed. Not really that big of deal, but when the station lacks air-conditioning, it sucks! The bus ride to Cambodia was very long. Setting off from Bangkok at around 9 am, [View Full Entry]

Saturday, September 6th , 2008 Greetings from beautiful Thailand! Our adventure started on Thursday morning with twenty-six hours of travel, but once here, it was all worth it. There is much advice given to travelers heading to Thailand and we must admit, it is good advice. We took a metered taxi to our hotel, fourty-five minutes later we reached our destination paying a total of 500 baht for our ride (including tolls and tip). Not a bad deal for about $17 dollars! We arrived late on Friday, around midnight and were very happy to finally get some sleep in a horizontal [View Full Entry]

Thursday, September 4th, 2008 Before we start with the update to our blog, I want to apologize for the pathetic title I gave our blog. We plan to blog about our trip every five or so days just to keep everyone informed on what where we are and what we're doing. Internet cafes are abundant and provide a nice break from the sultry weather. If anyone who's reading knows anyone that needs to be added, throw a comment at the bottom of the page or just e-mail Curtis (curtisghanson@gmail.com) or Sally. With that, below is a narrative detailing our plans of [View Full Entry]

Safe Arrival - November 23rd, 2007 WE'VE ARRIVED IN D.C. (via Baltimore, Maryland) We arrived safely and uneventfully to Baltimore-Washington International today, and were picked up by Andy and Chris. They took us to Bolling AFB where, over the weekend, we chilled in the "man cave" listening to music, playing video games, and doing homework. Sally had five papers which need to be complete by Sunday. She has less than two to have them done. Andy explained to us that Washington DC is broken into four quadrants: NW, NE, SE, and SW. Even though Bolling AFB does not lie within the [View Full Entry]

September 11, 2007 - Marrekech We scheduled a bus for Zagora, an overnight trip through a private company called SATA. The Moraccan bus system is crazy. We arrived an hour early and there was barely standing room. The tickets were handwritten, therefor barely legible even by the other Moraccans. We were lucky enough to be the first ones to load the luggage and the first ones on the bus, well, we shoved a bit. After finding our assigned seats, mind you we dont speak French, Berber, Arabic, another pissed off Moraccan wanted our seats and tried convincing us we werent supossed [View Full Entry]

September 8, 2007 It has been a few days since our last entry so this is what has happened. After Fes, we boarded a train to Meknes. The train system is supposedly the best in all of Africa. As we approach Meknes, we realize that we dont know where our stop is. Morocco doesnt mark the stops. We asked a group of Frenchies in front of us if it was our stop and they said yes. Our train started moving, before we had our bags off the luggage rack. Curtis got off first while the train was at about 2 mph. [View Full Entry]

Salaam from Fés. The keyboard is not your stqndard QWERTY type so we are hunting and pecking right now. Forgive us for any errors in the blog. Our trip to Germany was long and uneventful, with the exeption of Deidres misplacing of her passport at the Portland airport and vomiting in the plane on the stewardess, just kidding she made it to the toilet. The car rental didnt go through so we trekked it by train to Grosslittgen via Cologne-Bonn, Koblenz, Cochem, and Wittlich. Dont worry, I got my money back for the rental. Conny and Uwe were more than hospitable [View Full Entry]

Deidre and I are packed and bound for Europe; Cologne, Germany to be exact. Towels in hand. Our flight leaves at 0730. We make a brief stop in Newark, New Jersey and fly over the Atlantic pond. Upon our arrival into Cologne, we go to the Dom Cathedral. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe's largest cathedrals. It is an excellent display of gothic architecture and contains both a 42 ton pipe organ and supposedly the remains of the Three Magi in a shrine in the east apse behind the alter. After a brief climb to the [View Full Entry]
