Luke, Heath and I caught a beautiful glimpse of London by night from the infamous London Eye. The structure itself is amazing, a huge erected wheel on the banks of the Thames, with glass capsules that you step into to view the lovely city scape. Whilst still turning, security do a quick sweep for any nasties that may have been left behind, once cleared you simply walk in to an egg shaped capsule that allows 360 degree views. My favourite building was the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben which look stunning lit up reflecting on the water. The ride takes [View Full Entry]

Italy.. Finally

 Europe » Italy » Veneto » Venice
For two months prior I had been planning a trip to Venice as a surprise for Liani's 31st birthday. I managed to keep it a secret til about two weeks prior when I couldnt hold it in anymore! Needless to say she was extremly excited about visiting Venice - a place she hadnt seen on her past travels. The night before I had organised a few of our friends to meet for a drink which turned into quite a long night considering we had to get up at 3am and catch a cab to the airport! So with 1hrs sleep we [View Full Entry]

Paris Weekend

 Europe » France » Īle-de-France » Paris
Well it was an early morning start for myself, Liani and Heath. Up at 4.15am in search of a tube ride out to Heathrow Airport. After wandering through the tube station, watching a very drunk guy try to surf one of the signs and not crack his head, Heath checked the timetable and realised we were not going to catch our flight if we waited for the first train of the morning! So off we ran to try get a cab into paddington station where we could get the Heathrow express. We managed to grab a mini cab and the guy [View Full Entry]

These are a few shots to illustrate where I work. Southall is my little India, I am definately in the minority out there, and am reminded of this fact when walking down the main street! It is populated with Indians, Pakistanies and alot of black Carribeans. Most of my clientele are either from here or parts of Africa, which for me has been something to get used to. As patients they are a whole new kettle of fish, maybe not as motivated as my Cronulla sporting community was!!! Anyway, work is going well. I am the only full time acute physiotherapist. Off to Portugal!!! Liani and I were up at 4.30am to get ourselves off to Heathrow. We flew first to Brussels, then with TAP airlines to Lisbon. I had requested a vegeterain meal with TAP but they only had parma ham panini's which were pretty rank, but anyway the steward came back and said he would go make me something else, I said it was OK so he returned with a lovely bottle of Portugese red!!! Alright, cant complain about that!!! Anyway it became a bit of a theme throughout the day that the rather low top I was wearing seemed [View Full Entry]

Well, I had been thinking for a while now that I might like to do something with my hair that a) looked cool and b) required little or no maintenance. So using a contact of Jules, off I ventured into the heart of Jamica in London - Peckam Rye to meet up with some hairdresser, the only description being that she was "black and fat" her words not mine!!! We met at the corner of her street and I think she was a little surprised that I was a whitey wanting my hair done black!!! So 6 hours later, much pain [View Full Entry]

Doolali On Da Plane!!

Liani, Luke and I headed into the city to do one of London's famous sightseeing tours on the open top buses. These are old red double dekker buses with an open top, which gives you an awesome view of all the main attractions. We did the combined bus and cruise on the river Thames. On board is a tour guide who runs a live commentary explaining the history and significance of each sight which is really interesting. For example, Green Park is so called because of a royal wife's discovery that her husband was picking the flowers that once covered the [View Full Entry]

Prague

Europe » Czech Republic » North » Prague
Jules and I had been planning to go "somewhere"for a little while, and we finally came up with Prague. So after scaring the daylights out of ourselves about whether we needed visas to get into the Czech Republic, we were off, flying out of Gatwick Airport. Our flight was delayed so we didnt end up leaving til 7.30pm friday night, not having much of a clue where our hostel was!! We ended up sitting next to another aussie, a brisbane girl who was nuts. We laughed for most of the flight until after a couple too many red wines, she somehow [View Full Entry]

Here are some photo's of the place Heath and I moved into in Earls Court. Earls Court itself is traditionally where alot of antipoedans move into ie, all the aussies, sth africans and kiwis. Its a major tube station which means we have quick access to the city and fantastic connections to all parts of London. Its mainly one long street - Earls Court Road, with lots of travellers needs, cafes and small shops. Within a 5minute walk is High Street Kensington where loads of clothes retailers are. Also within easy walking distance is Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, Harrods, National History [View Full Entry]

Heath and i were fortunate enough to find accommodation with family of friends back at home. So for 3 weeks I stayed at Tony and Pat's in Southfields, which backed onto Wimbledon Common. It was nice to stay in a family home for the first couple of weeks on arrival. Everyday for the first 2 weeks, we were out and about exploring different parts of London. Large City!!!! And at night we would come back to Soutfields and share some olives, camberbert and dips!!! Mmmm, for 2 aussies on very little money we were enjoying ourselves!!! Work was fast approaching and [View Full Entry]
