Dad and Cheryl had arrived a few weeks earlier and after spending they're first week looking around London, they did a 14 day European Highlights tour which although was very busy they thoroughly enjoyed. After having a few days rest in London they were off again to Istanbul for a few days while Liani and I headed off to the small fishing village of Kalkan where the four of us were going to spend a week tanning in the sun and swimming in the beautiful mediterranian sea. We were recommended Kalkan as a less touristy option in Turkey and we weren't [View Full Entry]

The sun was shining and the music was so fine at the O2 Wireless Festival held annually in Hyde Park. On the bill for the 22nd was Captain, Missy Higgins (whoa!!!) Violent Femmes, K.T Tunstall, Ray LaMontagne and headlining was Mr David Gray. Pretty special lineup. There were rides, market stalls and a big screen for the World Cup Soccer - Australia V Croatia. So all in all it was a very entertaining afternoon in the park. Missy as usual rocked the house and I think the exposure she got from this festival will set her up for success in the [View Full Entry]

Edinburgh

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Edinburgh
After a year together Liani surprised me with a trip to Edinburgh. We flew up early and stayed in the lovely EQ2 apartments overlooking the regenerated EQ canal basin. Edinburgh is beautiful, much much nicer than old London town, and if I had the opportunity to work there rather than London, I would. We did the open top bus tour which due to the small size of the city, can be completed within half a day. It was interesting to hear the rather murderous bloody history of Scotland. They were very intolerant of crimes, stealing a loaf of bread would result [View Full Entry]

Torremolinos, Spain

 Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Málaga
Another early flight out of Gatwick and we were on our way to Malaga airport for our transfers to Torremolinos, one of the most popular tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol. I was looking forward to the possibility of getting some skin on my newly transparent skin. I tell ya, I can’t wait to get back home to Aus to get a bit of color on my bod!! We stayed at a hotel not far from the beach, and after dropping off our gear, we all ventured out to get a drink and check out the Spanish coastline. The sand [View Full Entry]

From Amsterdam we caught a train through the Netherlands and Belgium to Brussels where we would spend the night before heading back to London for work. Johan and Bea were heading to Paris for three nights, and we were to meet up with Luke and Carmel on their way from Switzerland. As soon as we checked in Luke and Carmel came to meet us, with some valuable possessions they had picked up for us in Lucern. The last time Liani and I were in Switzerland we found these beautiful rings which we bought one another. Only problem was we had to [View Full Entry]

Have a nice day.... Have a nice day.... woken at 2.30AM to Stereophonics wishing me a nice day, when what I really needed was a few more hours of slumber.... Liani's brother and his wife had arrived from South Africa the morning before, it was a whirlwind catchup before dragging ourselves out of bed to be at Gatwick Airport for a 6AM flight. It was a short flight to Schiphol and then a train into Amsterdam itself. The first thing that struck me about the city was that it is full of beautiful little canals criss crossing the city. The other [View Full Entry]

Earls Court had served us all well, but it was time to move up in London property and get some space!! As it turned out, Luke had found this cool place in Angel, which although a little old, it would serve us well with enough space for four people to comfortably co-habitate without killing one another. Anyway so we secured the place and got a pretty good deal on it considering the previous tenants for paying an extra £100 on what we got it for! The move (or should I call it the dreaded from now on???) started on the friday [View Full Entry]

Liani and I left London on New Years Eve and flew to Zurich Switzerland. Coming in over Zurich all you could see were fields blanketed in snow. Zurich airport is extremely modern, from the airport you catch a train into Zurich main train station. From there we walked through the snowy streets and found our hotel for the night. It was new years eve, so we found where we were going to view the fireworks for the night. Considering some of the new years eve celebrations I have been in, Zurich was extremely civilised and controlled. The Swiss are very polite [View Full Entry]

It was my first christmas in a cold climate and I was hoping that it would snow and turn everything into a white wonderland! It didnt snow on christmas day, but it did manage it on boxing day, about the same time I had mum on the phone! Needless to say, she heard the childlike excitement that I was exuding!! Liani and I had managed to find a tree that we could get up five flights of stairs without killing ourselves... it was to be big and glamorous, but in the end it turned out to be a little fella with [View Full Entry]

Christmas lunch HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!

London has loads of outdoor ice rinks in winter. Luke and I booked for an evening at the Tower of London. I was so excited thinking there would be a huge rink running around the Tower within the old moat. Umm... not so, but just as impressive. A rink was set up under pretty little christmas lights and against the backdrop of the Tower, where the English were once able to defend the city of London from. I did a fair bit of ice skating as a kid. Dad used to take me on weekends and sit there patiently while I [View Full Entry]
