Half way through our Moroccan part of the trip and some of the funny things we've seen here are: 1. Men sitting around playing with stones on the ground 2. Men hugging trees or poles 3. Goats standing up on tops of trees 4. Man strapped to bonnet of jeep in desert traveling 100 plus 5. Dead Donkey near self combustion by desert road… hot gas expands Down in Western Sahara now- headed away from Taghazoute where we spent 2 weeks chilling out by the beach wild camping. It was a handy spot cause there were showers and toilets there you could use for a euro and we were able to fill up the water tank in the van in the local petrol station. The day we left there the main road was all blocked off ... read more

Can't believe we're in Morocco 3.5 weeks already - absolutely crazy that time flies so fast in this place - but on the other hand everything takes an age to do - everything involves a cup of tea and sitting down chatting - no rushing allowed. At this stage though we're experts in bartaring, drinking tea, looking at carpets & berber jewellery and being called Fatima and Mohammed :-) Although in fairness we have got a few useful things for the van like a teaset, table and a load of blankets... we also have moved onto stage 2 of Crusty Level and we have exchanged broken speakers, a top and a handbag for argan oil and honey at the side of the road... I think I'm scarily approaching stage 3 as I purchased a pair of ... read more

hey there! can't believe we're in Morocco 2 weeks already - feels like we've been here months and months! Its a really cool place - in parts laid back and in other ways complete chaotic! The people are dead on - and we've only been ripped off around 3 times ha ha. Coming through the border was prob the most mad - we got the ferry to Ceuta (which is a part of spain over here) as we were told it was easier than arriving directly to Tangier. All went fine though - we were slightly nervous cause we had printed our green card insurance document on green paper we bought as we didn't have the original one. They weren't bothered by it or the dog so all good! We did however get conned into acquiring ... read more

10 days later! we're still in Tarifa - we just can't seem to escape this place! We've attempted to head off around 4 times but for some reason we keep being drawn back - bizarre! Its like the windmills are magnets or something. We've been up and down the coast between here and Cadiz around 4 times - but we are determined to head to Morrocco - we have bought the ferry tickets and all! We were heading there 2 days ago but discovered a really cool campsite and now we're here for 3 nights. The weather is a balmy 20 degrees with blue skie - really nice. We spent last week wild camping and I even washed my hair in a bucket.... now I'm officially a crusty... the same day Brendan went for a wash ... read more

Headed to Tarifa last week and camped around 4km from town centre in a campsite. Tarifa is a cool spot with loads of cool cafes and shops. From the beach you can look across and see Africa - mental! Its only 15km across the water. Because we were so close we figured we'd head across on a day trip on the ferry leaving the dog in the van. The ferry was at 1pm so we left the campsite at around 11am on a cloudy wet day. Around half a mile into the walk to town, we heard some thunder and lightning - didn't pay much heed - just plodded on in the rain. Next thing we're in the middle of nowhere and the heavens opened - we were caught slap bang in the middle of the ... read more

Greetings from the south of spain! Haven't blogged for the week as we've literally torn down the east coast of spain and come south. The weather has cooled down a bit now but its still sunny during the day. Nights and mornings feckin freezing though. All's well in the van and Charlie is used to travelling now. Although we did let him off the lead in the campsite yesterday morning and heard a german man suddenly roar out KAKA..... we knew he had to be involved somehow and yep - he had decided to do a crap in their pitch. Brendan had to go down and clean it up - ha ha Friday was one of the hottest days here so far and we ended up driving down this mad dirt track to get to a ... read more

Greetings from Costa del Old People! We’re making our way down through the east coast through Valencia and now just outside Benidorm… we’ll be heading in there today and wondering will it live up to its expectations like the TV series ha ha. We’ve been staying in campsites for the last week and they all have one thing in common – old germans and Dutch. They all seem to move over here for the summer – we seem to be the youngest by 2 decades! So the big story of the week was we temporarily had a puppy – typical Brendan of Assisi. We were heading along the road and there was a puppy at the side of the road so into the van she came – but after 24 hours of puppy whelping, we decided ... read more

We’ve hit the sun hurray – enjoying sunshine in a balmy 23 degrees today in a place called L’Ametlla de Mar just outside Tarragona. It took a few hours to get down from Jaca right through the Pyrenees. It was like an episode of Europe’s scariest roads – uphills not so bad, just slow. Downhills like being on a rollarcoaster ride. Apparantly 1998 Fiat Ducatos are not built with ABS  We stopped briefly in Salou but lots of signs for shops with British food persuaded us to move to a slightly more authentic spanish place! We headed towards the only open campsite in this area and its not too bad – aside from the mad walk to town which is a nightmare. Walked in by the beach today all along the coast to the main ... read more
