Cook & Milford Sound You really brought back to me how much we loved Queenstown and Milford. We flew over to Milford to save time, and flew over Mt Cook and many glaciers. Next trip will have a little more time there. Aren't the wines reasonable and pretty good? We also loved the fish, and the flat white coffee in the morning. |

Anyway, take care, nice to hear that you guys are doing well. Merry Christmas. |
| 9th December 2008 Christie Gradin | Winter vacation - From: Swamp Land with a Sandy Shoreline Hey Matt and Isabel - your blog came just in time - I was wondering where I should be headed for my winter vacation once the freezing, cold, snowy SK gets to me ; ) Those pics are terrific as usual and it was great to hear your thoughts on one island vs the other. Any plans to come to Canada to our 'fresh' winter weather? There is always room for you both here!! Or if you don't make it all the way to SK, you know I am always up for meeting in cow town. Stay cool ; ) |
| 8th December 2008 Patrick O'Connor | - From: Swamp Land with a Sandy Shoreline Excellent read I thought, I would have liked to have heard more of your thoughts Matt on the immigration position, however as i recall you being a man who doesn't mix his words, maybe being reserved in this case is for the best. Cheers Paddy |

| 8th October 2007 Kevin and Laurie | Baby butts - From: Great Cruise - No Li Hello, My girlfriend and I are currently spending the year teaching English in China. We are Americans but hopefully engraining ourselves into the culture a little better than your tour counterparts. We've enjoyed looking at your pictures and reading your blogs...in fact they are helping us plan for our future trips! Real quick: wanted to commend the shot of the baby's bottom. We are amused by the slit phenomenon and the indiscriminate public urination. We have been trying to get a shot like that for over a month, but not sure it would top that. Kudos on the rest of your photos as well and the writing! Best of luck, Kevin and Laurie in China |
| 28th August 2007 Nick | Wrong titles - From: The Land Down Under II: Melbourne & Great Ocean Drive hey guys, gret pics, but io hate to be picky, but hte beach your calling clifton beach is actually Gibsons steps |

We really enjoyed reading your blogs and seeing your beautiful photographs. Keep blogging! |
| 6th May 2007 Mysha | Beautiful Morocco - From: Fez Tastick Hi Guys I have been following your blogs for 2 months and I absolutely love your photos and blogs about the places you have been too! I recently went to Morocco (Marakesh - Travelblog: Mysha) and loved my time there! Unfortunately didn't get to go any further! Thanks for the recommendation (to all readers) about Dar Safferine because I am definately going to book that Riad when I return to Morocco! You definately have given me ideas (time wise) of where and how to travel around without planes (eco friendly). Happy travelling and keep up the great blogs!!! All the best, Shabana |
| 29th April 2007 Dave Joynt | Nicely Done - From: The Wild West Matt and Isabel. It's been a treat hearing all about your fantastic journey. Jen and I certainly felt some jealously from time to time as we heard about all the amazing spots you were visiting. Congrats on completing such an incredible adventure. Looking forward to hopefully seeing you soon and of course hearing how you're adapting to life back in the fast lane... I.E. reality!!! Oh and I definitely like the idea of a yearly Bermuda reunion... Saskatoon... here I come! |
| 25th April 2007 Christie | The drive - From: The Wild West The drive to Calgary was well worth it....especially since it wasn't on a little scooter or waiting in an airport for hours. It was great to see the both of you and I, as well as the rest of the group. I look forward to the next mini-Bermuda BBQ. Perhaps I can host next time!?!?! Hmmmm....how many would trek to Saskatoon for the party?? I promise we would BBQ in the summer when it is warm. |

It is so great that you took this trip and the memories will last your lifetimes - amazing! Your blog will definitely help us out in our travels to come and we really enjoyed all of the great pictures. Matt - we definitely think that you have a future in photography, amazing shots! |
| 14th April 2007 Larkin | - From: Aloha: Island Hoping Always comforting to hear that the U.S. is keeping it's borders tight and secure. Apparently you haven't gotten a close look at the Statue of Liberty - it clearly states in small print on the tablet she's holding "Canadians Keep Out". We don't want Canadians bringing their 'apathetic' personalities & second class citizen attitudes to our shores, which merely adds to all the other garbage that has seen fit to mooch off our prosperity and turn America into a welfare state. *I'll be publishing more of my insights and rants in a website this fall. What have they done at Waikiki Beach? In one of your pictures it looks like they've run some sort of artificial barrier about 200 yards out. Are they trying to stop the beach erosion? Probably a good idea since when we were there in 2005 there wasn't much beach and it was only going to get worse. You should have gone to Mauna Kea when you were on the Big Island. Great experience. |
| 14th April 2007 Rob & Monika | home - From: Aloha: Island Hoping Hey, great stories, and if you should be passing through the Okanagen on your way from Calgary, please give us an email, and you are more than welcome to stay here for a few days. cheers Monika |

| 22nd March 2007 Stephen Paul | Nothing Compares to Whistler! - From: Scrum Half: Abel Tasman & Queenstown, Mt. Cook & Milford Sound To Whistler! Especially in the southern hemisphere. Except maybe the Chilean/Argentinian Resorts- like Las Lenas(arg) or Valle Nevado(chile)- but those are much more northerly and dry to compare to Whistler, Bariloche or NZ. Anyways! GREAT PICS! Great BLOG! Loved it all. I found Tekapo and the area around Twizel quite nice however. Desolate, yes- but there's something magical in the silence of the open spaces near Tekapo and Pukaki, the part of New Zealand with the most days of sunshine and in the rain shadow of the Southern Alps, but all the glory of a lanscape scoured by ancient glaciers. Thanks For Posting!! Look forward to your Hawaii blogs... |
| 22nd March 2007 jaxw17 | enjoyed - From: Scrum Half: Abel Tasman & Queenstown, Mt. Cook & Milford Sound Good photos....saves me the fare of going ! |

| 21st March 2007 Crazy Canucks | Lagoon Balos - From: Holy Crete Lisa-Marie, I believe the only way to get there is by boat. The marina to catch the boat was an hr drive from Chandi and the boat was another 1hr I think. Don't believe there is a resort, but you can camp if you like. We did a day trip. Enjoy and thank you for reading our blog. |
| 20th March 2007 Lisa-Marie Mosca | Lagoon Balos oh my god - From: Holy Crete That lagoon balos is gorgeous me and a friend want to go away andthat looks perfect were is it exactly is there a resort or how do you get there |
| 9th March 2007 The Travel Camel | Superb photos! - From: The Land Down Under II: Melbourne & Great Ocean Drive These are some of the best photos of the Great Ocean Road I've ever seen, and being an Aussie, I've looked at plenty of photos! You have really captured the beauty and grandeur of the place. Am glad the weather was good to you, as that coastal area is most unpleasant once the wind and rain arrives! Look forward to seeing more of your great photography! |
| 7th March 2007 Angel & Alyna | Miss you - From: The Land Down Under II: Melbourne & Great Ocean Drive Looks great guys. Now I want to go and visit. |

| 1st March 2007 Teresa | Ah Memories - From: The Land Down Under - Sydney & Port Douglas Ah memories of my year there last year. I spent many a day walking between Bondi and Coogee. You are right about the prices and food- not much different than Bermuda. The Cronulla riots last year are evidence of the lack of multiculturalism in the city - was very surprised by it too. Your pics; however, are asking me the question - "why did you leave?" Maybe I'll have to give Syd another try sometime - maybe with a different job - will be back visiting friends in July. Cheers! |
| 28th February 2007 Brent | I'm still jealous!! - From: The Land Down Under - Sydney & Port Douglas More great shots - when are you coming back to BC? |
| 28th February 2007 Marcel | Sydney - From: The Land Down Under - Sydney & Port Douglas Hey guys. It's a shame you two didn't like Sydney more. When i was there 6 years ago it reminded me a lot of Vancouver (Lion's Gate = Harbour Bridge, Canada Place = Opera House, Ferry from Manly to Circular Quay = SeaBus from N.Shore to downtown, Stanley Park = Hyde Park??, Rainbow District = Rainbow District...).. lots of similarities. Once again...nice pics! |
| 21st February 2007 Roach | Great Pics!! - From: Gulf of Thailand Tour: Koh Samui, Koh Tao & Koh Phangan Those are some of the best pictures I've seen of Thailands' beaches.. =) |
| 20th February 2007 niki | wicked - From: Gulf of Thailand Tour: Koh Samui, Koh Tao & Koh Phangan im just doing all of that good luck mate www.travelblog.org/bloggers/brummy/ take care man |
| 19th February 2007 Kevin&Helen | Amazing Photos - From: Life isn't that Bad Hi Matt&Isabel, your pictures of Bali are fantastic! My partner Helen and i have experienced amazing times in Bali(Lembongan Island too) and going through your web page brought back all those wonderful times. But what were most impressed with is that you decided to encourage strangers who havent been to this amazing part of the world to maybe stop vocusing on the "negative past" of Bali and enjoy a very affordable paradise with an amazing culture and people. Excellent work guys. Best wishes on your next adventure, Regards Kevin. |
| 16th February 2007 Brent Larmour | What a change!! - From: Andaman Sea Tour: Phi Phi Don & Phuket Matt, when you get home I'll show you my pictures of Kho Phi Phi and the 2 bays from 15 years and you'll see nothing but green. Boy oh boy has it changed!! |
| 12th February 2007 Alec | - From: Andaman Sea Tour: Phi Phi Don & Phuket Wow, I can't beieve how Loh Dalam Bay has changed. When I was there in 1990 there was only small guest houses and the showers were all salt water. Thanks for the blog its been great following your journey. |
| 11th February 2007 Christie | all tanned up - From: Andaman Sea Tour: Phi Phi Don & Phuket Those pics look fabulous and you haven't lost your Bermuda tan, that's for sure. My sister is also in Thailand right now, so looking at both of your pics/blogs is getting me very itchy for a hot holiday. Oh yah, and the weather here isn't helping things either. The temp in Saskatchewan for the past week has been on average -30 degrees Celsius which is making my skin look about as tanned as a Scotsman. Although the huge amount of snow is still fun and exciting...as long as my neighbour keeps shovelling it for me. |
| 10th February 2007 Lothos | - From: Walk Like an Egyptian Great pictures and commentary, that sound and light show at the pyramids looks like it would be amazing to experience. |
| 10th February 2007 Larkin | - From: Andaman Sea Tour: Phi Phi Don & Phuket Very cool place. Wouldn't mind getting over there someday to visit. Was Leonardo Dicaprio there to great you? Hopefully he was washed away by the tsunami also (along with Rosie O'Donnell and Oprah). Thanks for the commentary about cheap tourists Matt (agreed 100%) - Robyn and I just got back from Mexico last month and it's the same thing there, but for the most part it's the Canadians who are the ones we saw trying to save 50 cents on a $3 item. PS - thanks for not posting any pictures of Matt in a speedo. |
| 5th February 2007 Jose | Colca Canyon - From: Cola Canyon - Arequipa Hi!!, I am peruvian and I've been reading your article about arequipa and your travel to the colca canyon, and i noticed that u miss a "c" when you wrote "Cola Canyon" it should say "Colca canyon". | 30th December 2006 Philip | Merry Christmas - From: Hanoi, Sapa & Halong Bay Merry Christmas to you both! |
| 22nd December 2006 Ada | Thanks - From: How do they Not Hate? I want to say thank you for the reply to the stupid comment. I have been to Africa...and people are so destitute, t hey are looking for the next meal every second of the day. They do not have time to be cleaning yards, planting trees etc..etc. there is NO home depot. There is no time in the day to relax. You toil on your feet for hours. Usually as the blog states there is no transportation, so if you want to work in a "semidecent" part of town, you have to hike. Work hard. hike home. Find something to eat. By that time, all you have time to do is sleep and start all over the next day. It is easy for those that have no experience in what TRUE poverty is called to discuss it. I also have seen the people in America sittin on their front porch waiting for the welfare check. Now not ALL of these people are lazy...but at least they have more of an opportunity to make a difference about their circumstances due to the democracy we enjoy in this government and in much of the western world. That same democracy and opportunity is but a dream to much of the world. Ada |
| 18th December 2006 stickyrice | - From: Wat a Place! Nice entry and nice photos! Never realised one could fly from Luang Prabang to Siem Reap, might just do it myself soon. Cheers. |

| 12th December 2006 Ostiguy | Vive le Quebec libre! - From: Wat a Place! Matt and Isabel, clearly, you have been away from the motherland for quite some time and have missed out on some very interesting political developments at home. Yes, Quebec finally seceeded from Canada on October 20 after a somewhat peaceful referendum (it seems most people couldn't care less about the outcome and instead watched the Habs dominate the struggling 'Nucks). Keep on bloagging, it makes a nice distraction from the dreaded number crunching. |
| 8th December 2006 Edie | language barrier, etc. - From: Monk'ing Around Do all the monks in Laos speak English? You said that you spoke to them for a couple of hours. Also, if there are monks, are there any nuns? Did you get to talk to them too? |
| 8th December 2006 Marcel | Trek - From: Monk'ing Around The 5 1/2 hour trek sounds like a perfect experience. I need to remember that when I go - sounds like a must do. Keep safe. |
| 7th December 2006 Tania | Uncomfortable! - From: Same Same but Different Wow - again great blog & pics!! Do the ladies sleep with those coils on?? I can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be! How do they get those things on anyway? |
| 7th December 2006 anon | again, great pics - From: Same Same but Different Were u offered any wacky tabacky in the north? Last time I was there, it was really cheap. They even made us bongs out of used water bottles. Nothing is wasted...no pun intended. |
| 1st December 2006 Tania | Great pics guys! - From: Nepal What wonderful pictures! So glad that you are enjoying your travels, what an experience! We are green with envy. If I'd have been on the safari I think that I would have cracked the elephant guide with that crow bar with the spikes - HOW CRUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| 1st December 2006 Marcel | Nepal experience - From: Nepal SO JEALOUS. I have talked about going to Nepal for a long time... so I will definitely be seeking your advice/input when that time comes. Too bad you didn't experience the trekking, but the flight tour sounds pretty sweet too. Great pictures btw. |
| 30th November 2006 Franco | - From: Nepal Great photos! |

| 15th November 2006 Larkin | - From: Horking, Squatting, & Shoving - Now that's China! Matt, Confucious say - You should learn to be more like Americans. . . eat more ice and you will be cool like them. More Bing please! |
| 3rd November 2006 Crazy Canucks | Fes - Dar Seffarine - From: Fez Tastick If you do a google search there information comes up. Here is there website address: http://www.darseffarine.com/ |
| 31st October 2006 fellow canuck! | just curious... - From: Fez Tastick im just browsing through travel journals (fantasizing my way through another school year), particularly some from Morocco as i'm hoping to make my way there later this year. great blog and some fantastic photos! im finding it hard to locate much good info on affordable (or at least memorable) accommodations in Morocco, including Fes. if ever you have a moment to reply to this and maybe pass on some info about Dar Safferine? it would be much appreciated! all the best, happy trails!!! |
| 28th October 2006 Crazy Canucks | Reply to: Reply to Stupid Comments/Poverty's Prison - From: How do they Not Hate? Thank you very much for both your comments - the idea of our blogs is to generate discussion, which we are glad has happened. |
| 28th October 2006 anonymous | Reply to stupid comments - From: How do they Not Hate? You're an idiot man. You saying that these people 'choose' to be this poor is ridiculous. Its like saying 'that guy living in the box down the street could TOTALLY make an effort to make it look nice'. What are they supposed to do, buy a throw rug or a few doily's and spread them around to 'spruce up' their shack? And the parents are supposed to do what for their kids? They have no money, no education, no means of doing ANYTHING for themselves but they're supposed to teach their children better? How do you teach someone something that you don't know? These people aren't 'lazy', they're trapped. Should they cut their lawns and plant some flowers to make their 'yard' look nicer? Maybe it would add to the appeal of their tin box. LAZY is when people with the means to make something better for themselves don't. As far as I can tell these people don't have access to the local Home Depot and garden store to fix up their home. OH, and that would cost money so even if they did it wouldn't matter. People like you make me sick. Get a freaking life and see it for what it is. EXTREME POVERTY NOT LAZINESS. |
| 27th October 2006 jrfromafar | poverty's prison - From: How do they Not Hate? very interesting read (and great photos too!) I cannot speak from experience, having never been to SA. And knowing people in poverty I know it is a prison of which it appears impossible to escape. But I can't help asking this question.... you show photos of the squalid condition of the 'front yard', whose responsiblity is it to clean up that mess? That isn't apartheid... am I wrong to say, it's laziness? If I were trapped there, I'd make the most of my situation, clean up the mess, figure out ways to improve things, have a garden, trees, have some creativity to make my lot better. I'd figure out a way to be industrious with what I have. I may be totally wrong. But I drive through neighborhoods in the USA, and some people simply don't have any decency to improve their lot in life. It is difficult to feel sorry for people who don't help themselves. Of course, the kids are total victims. I face that all the time, kids who don't have a chance because of lousy parents. But that isn't apartheid either. It's called not having the 'want' to, like in, 'you gotta have the want to!' Anyway, just my take on it all. I certainly wish I had an answer. Great read though, thanks much. Will make me think of it more. |
| 26th October 2006 lamlee | Disgusted - From: Gone Wild The poverty of South Africa always disgusts people, because the white South Africans see it every day and dont give up their houses. Remember, we might only be 15 minutes (my distance) away from poverty, but you are less than 20 hours away from it too. I should be disgusted with myself, but so should you. |
| 18th October 2006 Jeff | Great shots - From: Gone Wild Sorry we missed you in Cape Town guys. Starting a new job on 10/16 so couldn't stick around any longer. Make sure you spend a day at Stellenbosch doing wine tastings. I'd recommend Hartenberg for tasting and lunch, they really make you feel at home. Also hit Tokara for excellent views. |
| 16th October 2006 Tania K | What an Experience! - From: Gone Wild Hey guys, Sounds like the game drives were awesome and you got some great pics! I have to tell you HOW lucky you are to see so many leopards as Nathan and I only saw one and it was from quite a distance and we went on many a game drive! Isn't Africa amazing? Keep enjoying that fabulous trip!! |
| 16th October 2006 Marcel | Pics - From: Gone Wild Amazing pics man. Just awesome. |
| 11th October 2006 Marcel | Pictures - From: Kom-Ombo & Philae Temple Hey. Great pictures. I forgot I even went to Philae Temple, but your pictures reminded me! Your pictures also remind me of how much I didn't know before going to Egypt and how much I learned while on my travels (not just Egypt either - all places). Keep up the great blog! |
| 10th October 2006 Christie | living on the edge - From: Walk Like an Egyptian I am so impressed, as always, with the photos and commentary that you guys post....and let's not forget the timeliness! Thanks for keeping me involved on your exciting journey. Stay safe (especially after that truck picture!!) and enjoy the bumpy ride (loved the camel photos!). PS. I have the best TP (toilet paper for those of you not knowing of my lingo) here in Saskatoon. No need to import it anymore!! I bet you will agree after some of the washrooms that you have seen on your journey - only way to find out, though, is to stop by for a visit! |
| 7th October 2006 Jacque the idiot | LOL - From: Walk Like an Egyptian I cant help myself but I really like the 'Where's the dentist' photo! Hopefully when I visit Giza next month I can spot the same person and bring him to the dentist..... |
| 5th October 2006 Ben | Egypt - From: Walk Like an Egyptian Great pictures and text! Viva the toilet paper! Later |
| 3rd October 2006 Marcel | Egypt - From: A Country Gone TIPPY Well it looks like nothing has changed! Egypt once a dominant civilization and now??? I was quite surprised myself when I was there in 1999 to see how 'primative' life was in this once great nation. I chose the 'independent' road of travels (non-tour) and am very happy to have. Even learned the arabic numbers to ensure I didn't get the 'tourist' prices when shopping on the streets. Egypt is a great place for those who can appreciate it for what it is...and I know you guys will. |
| 28th September 2006 Gerald | Dubai to Egypt - From: City of Cranes Matt/Isabel, You'll be amazed at the difference between the two arab cultures. We went from Egypt to Dubai last year, and we couldn't believe it. While Dubai is amazing from a modern architectural point of view (apparently 1/3 of the world's high rise cranes are currently working in Dubai!) don't let the touts and lack of infrastructure taint the great cultural history and ancient architecture that Egypt has. Don't miss the Khan el-Khalili market in Cairo. You just have to have some sheesha at Fishawi's in the Khan. Wishing we were still living out of a backpack..... Gerald & Tamalyn |
| 26th September 2006 Marcel | Turkish Bath - From: Ephesus or Efes Yes.... I can attest to your dialogue. Nothing like a turkish (or moroccain) scrub down especially when you are on the road for quite some time. I miss those CHEAP chicken donairs. They are sold just outside Cafe Cairo in Bda for about $9-10 a donair. Please tell me inflation hasn't gone up that much in Turkey! |
| 25th September 2006 Larkin | "Ever spent time in a Turkish prison?" - From: Ephesus or Efes Matt, I guess you're more of a man than me because I'm not letting any dude rub me down with oil. Great pictures as usual. |
| 19th September 2006 hauteboy | - From: Stunningly Beautiful Ahh... you have some awesome photos! We were there at July and stayed at the place in photo 19. Brought back great memories!!!! |
| 11th September 2006 anonymous | Surface hardly scratched - From: How Gaudi - Better to be in Sitges Maybe the lack of asian restaurants is due to the lack of asian inmigrants. You better look for that in London or Amsterdam, you'll find plenty. What can we do to compensate that?. Maybe this (look under 2006): http://www.theworlds50best.com/default.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restaurant_(magazine)_Top_50 'El Bulli', by the way, is in Barcelona. |
| 5th September 2006 Dave Joynt | The Rainy Grey City Awaits You!!! - From: Medieval Rhodes Hi Guys. Fantastic shots of Greece. I've been really enjoying the blog updates. They are fantastic. They will be invaluable when planning our next trip. With regards to any changes, the only thing that I would suggest is to see more shots of the two of you... well and of course some skin shots too!!! Have a fantastic time in Turkey. Looking forward to seeing you in London. |

| 26th August 2006 Tania & Nathan | Wow - What a trip! - From: Athens is Smoking Hey guys, We read every entry and are so envoius of your fabulous trip. Thanks so much for writing as it is great to get to see the places that we haven't been through your eyes! Nathan is distraught that he may not get to do some of these trips now as we have our first bambino on the way. Anyhow - just wanted to let you know that we are reading and living vicariously through you :) Tania & Nathan xx |
| 25th August 2006 Marcel | Going to Turkey - From: Athens is Smoking Matt... just an fyi... when I went to Turkey (via Rhodes).. I remember trying to unload/spend all my greek money before entering Turkey. What I didnt realize is that there is some sort of entrance tax or something in Turkey (this was a while ago...so I can't really remember the details). Needless to say, I had a Turkish guy spot me the cash... he drove me to a bank and I then paid him back. I felt obligated to sit in his carpet shop afterwards listening to the whole carpet dog and pony show. The price I had to pay i guess. Enjoy |
| 24th August 2006 Apryle | Memories .....& Jealousy - From: The Magnificient Five Hi guys! From all your blogs it seems like your trip has been an interesting and (mainly) fun one. I am so jealous as I look at your pictures of the Cinque Terre, certainly one of my favorite places in Italy. I'm glad to see that you're happy and healthyand look forward to hearing more as you continue your travels. Arrivaderci!! |
| 22nd August 2006 The Sangsters | Cinque Terre - From: The Magnificient Five Hey Guys, Thanks for the update on the Cinque Terre. Your blog and photos brought back a flood of memories of how great the area and the hike are. We are looking forward to getting back to Tuscany and the Italian Riviera some day, definitely our favourite part of Italy. Take care, Sam, Jeff & Brandon |
| 17th August 2006 Marcel | Italia - From: French Riveria From Barcelona to Nice and Nice to Cannes, Monaco etc... sounds like everyone does the same route! Too funny. I'm reliving my travels with your blogs. Anyway... enjoy Cinque Terre... on of my favourite little spots. |
| 7th August 2006 Gus_Granada_Spain | Greetings from Granada - From: Madrid Spain...August....¿Churches, museums, fountains...,? By God's Sake.....go to the beach!!! That's where everybody is, including 6:00 AM taxi drivers and level A waiters. Only tourists (landmark or others) remain in the center of Madrid or Seville at 15:00 under a 40ºC sun. Suggestions around Barcelona: Sitges, Roses, Cadaqués. Join Spaniards at the the dark side of the (touristic) Force. Be a part of us. Together we can rule the Summer Universe. Sorry for the label 'landmark'. You've been upgraded to 'Die Hard Explorer'. Just joking, have fun. Greetings. |
| 6th August 2006 Marcel | Barcelona - From: Madrid Yo... I think we stayed in the same area in Madrid (Puerta de Sol). Make sure you take some good pics of Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia. Hopefully the builders have made some progress from when I saw it 7 years ago. I believe this church is 100 years in the making or something like that...quite incredible. Enjoy the crowded beaches! Btw... there always seems to be some sort of strike in Spain, Italy or France... so don't be surprised if it happens again! |
| 30th July 2006 Marcel | Morocco - From: A Billion or More? Reminds me of my time in Morocco 7 years ago. It doesnt sound like you tried the 'Hamam' (sp?) which is the massage/bath. It is an interesting experience. Good luck in spain. |
| 21st July 2006 Bec | - From: Granada, Tarifa & Gilbraltar Matt, your pictures impress me more and more each time, they are gorgeous. Hope you guys are having fun and that your trip is turning out to be everything you expected. Bec xo |
| 21st July 2006 Robyn | Alhambra rocks! - From: Granada, Tarifa & Gilbraltar Hi Matt, I have to say, you missed out at the Alhambra by not staying at the monestary (Parador de San Francisco). That made the whole 'wow' experience in Granada! that being said, maybe you were comparing it to other places you have been. Enjoy the rest of the trip and thanks for sharing the fabulous pix! --Mrs. Larkin |
| 21st July 2006 anonymous | Tsk, tsk - From: Granada, Tarifa & Gilbraltar It will be interesting to know if you still think the same after returning from Morocco. These landmark tourists...always is a hurry. |
| 20th July 2006 Chris | - From: Granada, Tarifa & Gilbraltar Matt you're becoming a travel snob. Robyn and I thought the Alhambra was impressive, and would have been even better if not for the annoying Canadian tourists. I think I'd like to hear some travel summaries from Isabel going forward. Please stifle. Larkin |
| 20th July 2006 Philip | Alhambra - From: Hot & Seville Nice work guys. Alhambra you say? Give my regards to the moops. |

You guys are makes me feel like visiting places I had never thought of before. Hey Matt, make sure you do not wear polyester shorts, which could irritate your arse a little more.... Take care |
| 1st July 2006 Andrew | keep it coming, mate! - From: Buenos Aires, Chilean Lake Crossing & Bariloche First of all, sorry for not writing sooner. What great blogs! Love your writing style, great shots, and attention to details. Personally, I would like to see more photos of people-the expressions on their faces when told no more blankets were available on a freezing train ride must have been priceless, good food and bad food (let's have a good laugh at them), seedier side of towns-if the tough guys would allow you to take a shot, kids climbing all over your back... the usual cafes and markets. I like to see what people are doing-a shot of the deckhands covering the luggages on the ferry would support your writing immensely. I love one shot in particular: a small Inca girl manhandling a little lama. Fantastic shots of the landscape, awesome, mate! I was into photography a while back and I can truly appreciate the skills that go into it. I admire your courage to undertake such a big trip and look forward to your next blog. My teaching business has picked up in the last month in Zurich and life is looking pretty good here. We'll go to the Czech Republic next week for a few days. Meanwhile, take care of yourselves. All our best wishes, Andrew & Jitka |
