Stupid O'clock
Life is full of little challenges and airlines attempt to throw a curve ball when they can. Life continues in the frozen tundra so. After living in Antarctica I always chuckle when it snows a 1/2 inch in the Carolina's and they close the schools. Perspective I guess. Small world -- sounds like every one is friends with Niki.

Thanks andrea
Hi, Andrea, I think you are right, I enjoyed reading it. So how much you have fun?
28th February 2017

Privet!
Moscow - still my all time favorite place! I would have enjoyed the colder temperatures, magical. I loved the subway and of course the Kremlin, as well as Gorky park - and that song did play in my head. Did you go farther aloft? Are you taking the train? I will watch for more blogs.

Moscow during the quiet season
Probably not surprising that you guys would visit Moscow in the snow as icy seems to be your thermal norm, if your other blogs are any indication. Gotta say the contrasts of colour that result are stunning...and there's a certain satisfaction to visit when the level of tourist crowds are down. Great pics. Was this in winter and what were the range of temperatures?
27th February 2017

Winter indeed.
Dancing Dave, good to hear from you! We were in Moscow in mid February and the temps ranged from minus 11 to minus 2 Celsius for the 5 days we were there. The temps can swing quite a lot though, it can get down to minus 30 and as high as 10 Celsius during the winters... And yes - we are fans of the world's chillier regions! Keep dancing...

We loved Berlin
Berlin is a city with a past a complex past. Berlin has really transformed into a vibrant bohemian metropolitan city with excellent public transportation. Looks like you are having a great time.

Language
With my little bit of Pennsylvania Dutch I'd probably be in the same shoes as Dave if we traveled there! Made me smile!

Welcome to my university town. There is much to see there. History, culture, night life.

LE MUR EST TOMBE
I remember when the Wall came down. My boyfriend and I were coming back into the US after spending a week on a French island in the Caribbean. For a solid week we hadn't seen a newspaper, or listened to a newscast; nothing but sunshine and soca music. As we boarded the Air France plane, we were offered a magazine or a newspaper to read. I picked up the International Herald Tribune, which was a couple of days old. As we settled in our seats, I noticed the headline in the paper (I think it was Paris Monde) that the guy in front of us was reading. In two inch high type was written "LE MUR EST TOMBE." (The Wall falls.)At first I thought that maybe there had been an earthquake somewhere and a wall to a large apartment building or some such had finally come down. And then it dawned on me that they were referring to the Berlin Wall. It was so unexpected and so wonderful, I could only sit there and marvel at the turn of events.

So high you can't go over it......
Greetings from Northern Ontario....thanks for posting your travels ifrom Germany. It is wonderful to travel the world with you both. Contemplating "the wall" throughout history is something we all need to do. Whether physical, symbolic, emotional, ideologic..... walls are being built. A physical wall is perhaps the least damaging! Miss you both and look forward to welcoming you inside our four walls whenever your travels bring you "home"! Lots of love, Donna (and Chris)

Inquisitive nature
Yes I agree that is one way I would describe what I know of you. Stanley sounds lovely and if we ever get there we will order the fish and chips. Love the tale of the gnomes ...we should sit in wait to see how it happens. Dave, I always look forward to each addition of your blog and wait until I can give it full attention because I know you will transport me to some wonderful and amazing place. Thank you, MJ

Waiting for the Gnomes
That sounds like a plan... Next time I will see what happens - I will see if the gnomes really are beings. I bet I could find a few followers to join me on this. As always, it's great to hear from you guys. Thanks for all of the kind words.
