| 14th October 2009 Crannster | Clutch - From: The Van Shrunk!!!! Thanks for the comment and thanks for reading our blog.. Our VW is still in Whitehorse, we just cut our losses and left it at a friends place there. We still think we were treated unfairly, but such is life we guess? D + T |
| 13th October 2009 Mark W | Another VW Clutch... - From: The Van Shrunk!!!! I am amazed by your tale of the clutch issue... We purchased a 93 VW Passat, and then had to replace the clutch. We opted to buy a brand new "OEM" clutch kit (Sachs brand - same as was in the car originally) and had our mechanic install it - no VW mechanics in the area. It worked well for 10 days after we got it back, then it left us on the side of the road again. When we checked the clutch, it had shredded all its lining and scored/warped the flywheel. The distributor of the clutch denied that it was a manufacturers' defect, saying we must have been racing the car! (We have 3 kids, and this is the family car - less than 1000 km since the clutch was installed!) End of story - we have to get it replaced AGAIN, but I will avoid THAT manufacturer now, since it sounds like a quality issue with them. Hope your vehicle's doing well now! |
