Day 1 We arrived in La Paz Bus terminal reasonably early with chris and set out looking for a hostel to dump our bags (we were meant to be flying straight to Rurrenebaque to go to the jungle but the flight was delayed 2 days because of rain), i had been recommended a good one by a girl called heather "who may or may not appear in a later entry" called the wild rover. Turns out the wild rover was an irish themed bar complete with irish owners, bar, tv room, computers, the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in [View Full Entry]

Day 1 After Uyuni we took a short bus ride to Potosi, potosi is apparently the highest city in the world and as such the high altitude was still weighing heavily, when we arrived we quickly found a nice hostel (mine and holdens had a fantastic view of the heavens and the city landscape at night) and did the usual thing of trying to find somewhere to go out to eat and drink. The city itself used to be one of the largest, wealthiest cities in the world because of the rich silver deposits nearby but since then it has been [View Full Entry]

Day 1 We arrived in San Pedro De atacama after our 9 hour bus ride feeling a little sad to be leaving argentina but still up for the desert expierence, as expected it was hot, really hot and the bus dropped us off about 10 minutes away from town so we had to drag all our kit to the centre, was a sweaty walk but not too bad considering. We ended up wondering around the centre of San pedro for a bit which is amazingly well developed for such a tiny desert town, all the tourism it recieves really shows, we [View Full Entry]

Day 1 Heres the thing, half way through our bus journey which was supposed to take us upto a place called La quiaca in the North of Argentina, we had a change of heart, we met some english blokes called Chris (who is now called Mike because i kept forgetting his name) and simon, apparently they were heading over to Salta where you could get a train directly to the desert town of San Pedro which sounded quite cool, so we hopped off at a city called Tucuman and changed our bus to salta, we arrived at salta at 2am and [View Full Entry]

Day 1 Finally arrived in Iguazu after a monster 21 hours bus journey, wed previously booked a hostel in BA called hostel Inn which had previously been a casino and apparently has the biggest pool in the area good start. When we first got off the bus at the terminal the first thing which hit me was the heat! it was like walking into a wall and after having stood in the sun for 30 seconds i was soaked in sweat and having trouble walking in a straight line so when we finally arrived at the hostel the first thing we [View Full Entry]

So begins the Buenos aires Blog, we arrived about midday and turned up to our hostel only to be informed it was full and we'd have to come back tomorow, in the mean time we were put in a smaller hostel up the road full of drunk argentinian people we had a hard time understanding, didnt do much today just mooched around the hostel and wotched ice age 2 in spanish. day 2 we moved over to our new hostel and had breakfast, the whole place is very trendy and full of loud vibrant people, it may be too cool for [View Full Entry]

Holden here, taking over for the first time... Day 1: Got pissed off with our first hostel (loo didnt flush, no hot water, noisy traffic outside, miles from town centre, outside lock broke, and most importantly FREE WINE RAN OUT after 1 glass each). So we set out in the morning after oversleeping and missing breakfast to look for a new one. City was awesome and sunny, unlike the day before when we arrived. Found a lush hostel called Hostel Independencia, right next to the main plaza which we booked beds in and went off to fetch our stuff, bastards at [View Full Entry]

Hello all welcome to the latest South america update, right where to start. Our Plane was delayed once again by 6 hours meaning we had to spend another 6 hours in our lovely hotel, that part was good, unfortunatley it meant getting up at 5am to go to the airport and having to spend a 13 hour flight wide awake with nothing much to do (except for play cards and make paper sculptures) We finally arrived at Santiago and checked out at 8. we were then immediatley pounced upon by some over friendly Pedros who were very keen to help us [View Full Entry]

After having been dropped off at gatwick and enduring a 2 hour flight with a hyperactive spanish 5 year old copying holdens every move and generally being abusive to us poor english travelers we finally arrived at Madrid about 9.00. Due to our origional flight straight Santiago being cancelled we ended up wondering around the terminal looking for payphones to call our airline who had apparently booked us a hotel. After the payphone had swallowed 2 euros and put us through to 2 confused call centre Pedros we gave up and used Holdens mobile, we were then quizzed as to why [View Full Entry]
