We are finally in Iceland! I have wanted to come here for as long as I can remember, so I am completly and utterly chuffed to bits right now. So, we have just arrived home after spending an absolutley perfect weekend in Amsterdam! Let me just start by saying, I much prefer it to Paris. Mark knows the city, and the Netherlands in general really well, having spent the past three years working out there on and off, so this was a very easy trip fpr us to take. We went to Paris for two days. Ample enough time for us to see what we wanted. Got a super early morning flight from Heathrow on the friday and a late flight home on the satuday night, so time wise, we were fine. We stayed at the Hotel du Louvre, which was just behind the Louvre, so we were pretty central. First stop, of course, was the Eifel Tower. Oh my gosh. Well, we fly home today. Our week here has gone so fast. We have done so many cool things. Central Park has been excellent, and yes, we went boating! I have always wanted to do that, ever since I was a kid. The rocks in central park are amazing, they are huge and everywhere. It amazed me that you could just clamber up and sit on them. Were in New York! Mark is with us this time, as is my dad. The flight was ok, Virgin Atlantic WIN over Cathay Pacific. We are staying in Cental Manhatten, at the 3030 hotel. Its great. We are a 5 min walk from the Empire State building, and have a great bar/resteraunt right across the road. We have a lot to pack in, as we leave on Friday evening. Let me start by saying that I will NEVER EVER take an over night train again in my entire life. I thought it would be 'fun' to travel back to Sydney via an overnight train. I thought it would be ok, as I booked a sleeper compartment for us, so we had beds, a shower and a loo and privacy. There was an all night buffet car. We have spent the past week in Byron Bay, staying at the Byron at Byron resort and spa. It was every bit as nice as it sounds! The coach trip down was great. We travelled with Country link, who are like our National Express, so it was air conditioned, thankfully! We had to change coaches at a town called Casino. We flew from Sydney to Brisbane on friday 28th, I was really lookung forward to the views from the flight, however, there was a gigantic storm, so all we had we clouds and turbulance! Add to that, the fact we were sitting next to a woman who was a total pain in the arse, I was quite glad to get off the flight. At least it only lasted any hour. Today we have just been hanging out in Sydney. Shopping, eating far too much food and messing about on ferries! We have had such a fantastic time, I am sad to be leaving Sydney tommorow. We are coming back necx friday for 6 days, but we really have had so muc fun here! We did the touristly things in Darling Habour today; the wildlife centre, the aqaurium. Thankgod I didn't plan this trip for the first day! It was 10 hours long, fantastic, but totally exhausting! I'd booked an excursion with a coach company for us, just for the ease of it, and I am so glad I did. The Three Sisters, in the Blue Mountains was probably the thing I most wanted to see in Australia, and we were both so excited about going. First stop on the trip was Featherdale Wildlife Park.
