| 7th May 2009 Woody | Quake? - From: Wellington - Napier - Tongariro Crossing Oi Oi! Hello gangsters! So you experienced an earthquake eh? And then to outdo that you then saw mount doom - where was aragon?! It is the eve before kev pinnegars stag do which i'm on tomorrow. Bro is organising it being the best man and the words piss-up and brewery spring to mind, but should still be good fun. We're off to Newquay and there's 11 of us - i imagine you must be devastated that you're not going!! I am yet to see little Ollie westall. Daddy westall hasn't returned my calls the last 2 days so i guess he's probably shattered and fed up of having people over so i'll pop in when he and kelly and more settled. Me, daddy westall and butcher played 9 holes at broome last friday which was good fun. It was good fun and we're already starting to think of the next team adventure where we hope you will star! Take care guys, not long to go now but try not to get despressed by thinking too much of returning home and instead keep on enjoying yourselves! |

I have never seen anything like it!!!.................................................................... I want a crunchie bar that size! haha!! The 20km trek looks like fun too! Fab views too! Bye for now! Enjoy! x |
| 28th April 2009 AJ | Pencil Neck's got a weirdy beard! - From: Mt Aspiring NP - Fox - Franz - Westport Hello travellers, how the devil......... I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that although I said I would do anything Danny did, im definately not doing a bungie! Unless woody can beat me in an arm wrestle!!! Talk to me about that dodgy cam corder footage???? Cant believe you only have 3 weeks left to go, time is truely a scarey thing! Make sure you avoid any pigs, or funny looking mexcians with snotty noises on the remiander of your travels. Keep safe A&K&B&L xxxx |
| 28th April 2009 Steve | Ko uara? ........(You didn't know of my Mauri linguistic skills did ya!) - From: Mt Aspiring NP - Fox - Franz - Westport Great photo's! I reckon you must of got some good advice from somewhere!! Just looks awesome.........oh well, one day I shall visit! | 27th April 2009 Dinah Beauchamp | Homesick? Moi??? - From: Mt Aspiring NP - Fox - Franz - Westport Hi there - just wanted to say that your blog from NZ has made me so homesick that I have booked tickets to go back for 5 weeks at the end of July!!!!!! My credit card is not impressed with your wonderful travel blog!!! See you soon!!! |
| 26th April 2009 Carol Coles | Can we swap? - From: Mt Aspiring NP - Fox - Franz - Westport Hi you two. I think the latest photos are great and I hope you enjoy the time you have left. Love Mum,Dad,Martyn,Jema and Kelsey. xx |
| 26th April 2009 Woody | Who are you calling a wanaka?! - From: Mt Aspiring NP - Fox - Franz - Westport Well hello you adrenaline junkies! Very well done on the bungy jump. Woodys verdict: you\\\'re mental!! Did you poo your pants a little when you were on the way down? You know i would have! Looking very nice there folks. Quite impressive that you can go from being in t-shirts one day to wooly hats and jumpers the next! Ice mania! Clare points out that you are looking more like robert pires in every picture posted DC! How the hell does she know who robert pires is?! The latest from Covingham daily herald is that nothing ever happens in covingham! Swindon beat bristol rovers yesterday to clinch safety which was good. Half the town is probably ripped up and smashed to pieces but at least they are now safe! The Westall, the butcher and the woodster are possibly playing 9 at broome tomorrow. It depends on the weather (forecast: heavy rain - go figure) and on kelly not being selfish and giving birth (just kidding kel!). If we play we'll hold a minute's silence so that we can think hard about the missing attendance of one of the dream team's special members! Much love, woody x |
| 23rd April 2009 Joyce Moloney | nutters - From: Queenstown to Wanaka Can't believe you did a bungy jump, Danny can't believe she talked you into it you are both crazy. Looking forward to seeing the DVD. Hope you guys are well |
| 21st April 2009 Steve | Now that is my Utopia!! - From: Queenstown to Wanaka Hey! I am uber envious right now, NZ just looks fantastic! If I could emigrate there tomorrow I would! The more I see and hear about it the better it looks and sounds! Really pleased to see all that you're doing and seeing, it's an absolute pleasure! Well done to you both on the bungy jump.........that does look a little scary!!! Hope your time goes slowly though, make the most of it guys, it is just such a brilliant opportunity to see and do so much.......did I mention me being envious....!? ;-) x |
| 19th April 2009 Woody | 'Sup - From: Christchurch - Lake Tekapo - Cromwell Neville....Neville....Neville!! Hello you travellers. Wow and wow are the thoughts of the Woody jury! Looking very nice indeed down under, once again we're very jealous looking at your pictures - so much colour and beauty. Very disappointed that you didn't get a 'yute' as your travel mobile though. How cool would it have been to say that you drove round in a yute!! Sleeping and general living in it wouldnt have been very good mind but dammit guys it's a yute! All good here, weather at the weekends has been pretty decent of late and summer is so close i can taste it - or was that just me chewing on one of Clare's farts. Anyhow, on Friday we hosted a family BBQ. Weather was actually poor that day but evening still enjoyable and the weather since has been good. The woody household is a happy place right now. Keep happy young travellers |
| 18th April 2009 Dinah Beauchamp | I love the Church of the Good Shepherd too! - From: Christchurch - Lake Tekapo - Cromwell Kia Ora, Lovely to read your latest blog and know exactly where you are!! Hope the weather stays kind to you - the North Island is having some kind of Indian Summer - hope it lasts long for you to experience it! Should be getting warmer here too - (should, being the operative word here!!) Take care and let me know if you want or need any contacts or phone numbers in case of emergencies whilst you are in NZ - I can do Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland. Dinah |

| 12th April 2009 Woody | Is this the latest blog?! - From: Hong Kong & Macau Ello ello ello! Hey guys, Your latest blog shows the 4th of April for me yet it shows you last logged on today (12th) - am i missing something or have you guys got a lot of catching up to do? Based on what you last wrote i have to make a comment about your blog on the 3rd of April. And i quote "anyone who has commented on our blog more than three times wins a prize". Are you guys just testing us to make sure that we're reading the whole blog and not just looking at the pictures! So what prize do i win then? I'd love a new american style fridge freezer if you can squeeze one of them in your back pack? No? OK, a tortoise neck or rat's dick will have to do then i suppose..... Hope Oz was everything that you expected and more. I expect you are well on your way to NZ now and from memory i think you are there for a while so hope you enjoy it and try not to get sad thinking that your journey is getting a lot closer to it's end! You've still got loads to do! Take care guys, and dont forget my tortoise neck! I earnt it fair and square! Actually, you're not in asia any more are you - just bring back the sun with you instead! |

| 2nd April 2009 Pencil Neck | "Harrow" - From: Shanghai and Hangzhou "Such a contrast of history, culture and modernisation over there by the sounds of" I can honestly say that your blogging is having a prefound effect on woody! He's never used words like this in his life......... Woody told me that since reading your blogs of what can only be describes as two 'intrepid adventurers' (Indiana Jones' as woody put it). Woody on his 7th visit to Orlando in as many years, was determined to make this trip totally different from anytime before. No longer was MGM studios first on the list for must visit........Universal studios and "Back To The Future" became a thing of the past.......... As woody described it SEA WORLD is truly a special place, the memories of 'Shamu' and 'Sesame Street Bay Of Play' will live with him forever! He also said the Hotdogs were pretty good as well, although the Tommy K was a tad spicey!" Love ya A&K&L&Bxxxx |
| 31st March 2009 Woody | Catch up time! - From: Shanghai and Hangzhou Big up to my favourite travellers! Thanks for the text today. First reading for a few weeks guys having been away myself of course. Only went back a few pages admittably but have caught up and am feeling the chinese vibe! Hope you enjoyed that wonderful 24 train journey - what a great way to spend a day!! Hope the train had a toilet. Such a contrast of history, culture and modernisation over there by the sounds of - i'm loving the snaps of the wall of china and from the towers in Shanghai. You just don't see how visitors to the London Olympics are going to be as blown away by England as visitors to China are! Imagine Hong Kong will be pretty special - can you bring me back a playstation 3, iphone and apple mac notebook please - i've heard you can get all of them for a fiver. Is it warmer there? I was pretty surprised to hear how cold it was for you guys the other week but then China is a tad big so not overally surprising that the weather there is massively different from one place to the next. Best go guys. Take care and keep typing! |
| 31st March 2009 mum and dad clays | - From: Shanghai and Hangzhou Your breakfast experiences are truly amazing! Poor old dad had to have a very boring full english breakfast at Spotted Cow today. No pizza, cake or floating poached eggs for him. Sad eh! |
| 30th March 2009 Ozymandias | China and Inner Mongolia? - From: Beijing I came to your blog through your phrase "we were able to look out over Inner Mongolia from one direction, and China from the other". Definitely non-PC as far as the Chinese are concerned! Like Tibet, Inner Mongolia is an integral part of China and has been since time immemorial :) You also mentioned Yonghegong (Lamaist temple), which is not merely Bejing's biggest Buddhist temple (I'm not sure if it is or not). It's not a run-of-the-mill temple; it's actually a Tibetan Buddhist temple established by the Manchu (Qing) emperors. The Manchus used Tibetan Buddhism as a way to maintain control over both the Tibetans and the Mongolians. This was the forerunner and direct cause of the modern Chinese ideology of why China should control Tibet and Mongolia (among other places). So places like this are not merely "colourful Buddist temples" from some old dynasty, they are a living part of modern history, with plenty of relevance to questions of "Chinese sovereignty" that are still vexing a lot of people today. Anyway, this is just a random comment. You guys certainly had a lot of fun in Beijing, and you know how to appreciate things in the right spirit. Good luck with your travels! |
| 28th March 2009 nan | - From: Chengdu hello hayley and danny love your panda photos love nan and gramp. now live on computer |
| 25th March 2009 Butch & Lucy | Lost weight....Pot Noodles....not suprised - From: Xi'an Hey kids it's me again, it's been a while since i have had a chance to sit down and read though the blog instead Lucy has been reading to me, got to love teachers ;-). In every blog you mention food, which then makes me insanely jealous of the culinary delights you must be trying, until i read 'pot noodle', surely it's a criminal offence to eat pot noodles in chin empire. But I do think that woody should have been a Panda, although they probably eat a wider variety of food. China looks amazing and we wish we were with you sharing in this adventure, over and out you sweaty pigs... |
| 16th March 2009 Steve | Cake.........I love cake.! - From: Dali 'Poached eggs.....floating.....in soya sauce soup'........this I do not like.......it sounds wrong on every level, the Chinese have much to learn! Now cake and cheesecake, yessiree let me at it! Hope H had a marvellous birthday! Right that's it for blog comments today! Until your next exciting installment 'au revoir'........ x |
| 16th March 2009 Steve | :-/............saddle sore? - From: Shaxi .......haha........sorry couldn't help myself, that sounds like some ordeal on the bikes, beautifully portrayed in your blog!! Think I might not of enjoyed that either! I want to know what your 'internation gesture for walking' is.......?!.......well.........in future be more careful with your gestures!!:-) It's no good your idea of 'relaxing' has tired me out..........think I'll have a lie down! Take care! x |
| 16th March 2009 Steve | Now that is my kinda trek! - From: Tiger Leaping Gorge Guys, that looks amazing! I am extremely envious!! Am so glad you enjoyed/endured it too!! hehe!! | 6th March 2009 Steve | Clucking 'eck........ - From: Hanoi to Kunming to Lijiang!! Dude's......chicken feet.......that is just plain nasty......I'm not convinced on fox or turtle either....I feel that China is not, I repeat not for me...!!! I love that picture or Dan though, he has a real 'cry face' there.........poor little blighter, I almost feel his pain!! :-) Can't wait for the blog on the trek, now that is something I wouldn't mind.......as long as I can go to McDonalds/Pizza Hut or similar for 'edible food' after! So you'll be trekking in China and I'll be photographing a wedding in Chiseldon tomorrow.....bugger, I think I've drawn the short straw!! Have a cool time! x |
| 6th March 2009 AJ | Pencil Neck Strikes Back - From: Halong Bay Tell me you battled H back with the old classic, "Now this is a story, all about how my life got flipped turned upside down" I'd say that is the second near miss you've had on a Kayak Danny Boy! Last time i distinctly remember a very good looking, slightly buff, pro kayaker showing you the ropes...... and you failing miserably. Which followed by a 4 foot wave taking us out in mid turn and you getting stuck under the kayak. H, I know how emotional it must have been! A&K&L&B xxxxxxx |
| 5th March 2009 Woody | Ganstas paradise? - From: Halong Bay Hello karaoke's finest! Before i waffle i have to start with this karakoe business. As far as i understand it, and please correct me if i'm wrong, Hayley picked up a microphone in public and started spitting her stuff on a rap song. Please tell me you have recorded that DC. Could be the best blackmail material you'll ever have. As usual i have allowed several days to pass and have played catch up tonight. Had a good laugh at the golden turtle story. Reminds me of the time i was victorious on the bog after a long 5 minute strain and then jumped into the bath and had my shaver taken off me by an aluminium ferret. Was a huge shock i tell you. I'd have paid to see that dude who you bumped your kayak into shout. Did you laugh or cry? Surely you can't have hit his boat that hard? You should have thrown a fish at him or something. Now on to the monkeys. I hear Lee Ayres is trying to track down family that he hasn't met before, you might beat him to them. Will be my last weird post for a while you guys due to my holiday. Will catch up when i get back. Hope China is everything you expected and want it to be. A&C X |
| 2nd March 2009 mum and dad clayts | - From: Halong Bay Yet another good blog with brill photos but I think its time to give boats a miss! Dan going round in circles on the Ganges was a small insight of what could happen when let loose in a boat! Went to see Slumdog Millionaire with B & R last night, what a brill film. Seeing the roads and trains was just like reading your blogs from India! Take care, safe journey to China Mum and Dad |
| 2nd March 2009 Steve | Stay on dry land....... - From: Halong Bay Cheers for that, it might be Monday afternoon, I might be at work but I can chuckle at your 'kayaking' prowess.........hehe.....I thought we'd already agreed from a previous incident that Danielson is not that adept at rowing........!? Anyways, it's all an 'experience'........ Looks a lovely place though, Monkey Island, that is brilliant! :-) Hope the train journey was a success and only a mere 25hrs travel...... Take care kids, and I'm looking forward to your next exciting installment!x |
| 25th February 2009 Woody | SCAM! - From: Phnom Penh Dudes you were scammed!! That really sucks, how can anyone steep so low? Bet they must be making a fortune out of tourists though! I've been playing catch up tonight - it's amazing how quick the week flies past, but good to then sit back and read what you love birds have been up to. Bit of a learning experience this week by the sounds of it. It's sad to think places like that exist, even sadder when you think there are probably quite a few of them scattered around the world. Must have been very interesting. I imagine that you guys set a budget on how much to spend in each country before you left the UK but is it fading faster than you imagined or are you getting a few more bargains that you anticipated? |
| 24th February 2009 Dinah | Loving it! - From: Ho Chi Minh City Hi Hayley, I absolutely love your travel blog - have got Leigh Timbrell hooked as well. Did try to send you a message re: Singapore (Max and I spent some time there a few years back - weird place - he was a baby and accidently had a wee on one of the metro trains and I thought we were going to be arrested!) | 24th February 2009 Steve | Sobering thoughts..... - From: Phnom Penh I'm glad you visited S-21 these things need to be seen, not pleasant but very moving. I am still loving the blog, it's like a little escapism each time you update it! You guys are to a certain extent 'living the dream'! All the places you are seeing, the people you meet, the food you are consuming (I am hungry now!) is just amazing. In comparison my life seems somewhat...........dull. But I shall make a few comments even though all I mainly have to say is things like........."wow, Malaysia looked fab, those temples are something else"....etc Carry on having an awesome time, and Hayley you look tiny holding the AK! hehe! x PS Inter Milan v Man U tonight should be good! C'mon you REDS........!!! |

| 17th February 2009 Woody | Shark shark shark! - From: Krabi/Paradise Eat the shark!! Hi guys!! Wow, those pictures of Clare in the morning (AKA Krabi) were amazing. I can't believe you were given jip by a jelly fish - you should have punched it back to china town -that's near Thailand right? (Joke) Bet the snorkelling was a bit special - did you see any parrot fish like at xel ha? I'll never forget the floater i let off when i saw them come at me! Not a great deal to report here. I'm trying to arrange footy at wanborough for saturday morning - we're a man short and i'd be bitterly disappointed if you didn't make it. Hope you're enjoying Bangkok! |

| 11th February 2009 Woody | Wasp the size of a bird? - From: Taman Negara and Cameron Highlands Yoooooooo blogga's! Just been playing catch up as it's been a while since i last visited this now world famous blog - i haven't read this much since i was forced to in English lessons at school 12 years ago! How do you sleep at night knowing that there are wasps the size of birds in these places?! I actually think i would have shat myself if i saw a wasp the size of a bird fly near me. Are you sure it wasnt actually just a stripey bird? Food seems to be a highlight of the asian adventure - do they do sausage rolls though?! I wonder if there is anything there i would eat? Surely they must do chips.... I bet you're burning the calories from these wonderful meals off pretty easily with all the miles that you are walking every day. Do you get cramp?! I would, but then i'm a pu$$y. Just watching the spain v england friendly on tv. It's half time at the moment - we started steady enough but villa scored a decent goal and we're struggling now. A draw would be a decent result if we can somehow grab a goal. Not much else to report here. The weather is the talk of the moment in the uk at the moment- still have loads of snow in my street, it just wont bloody melt! Take it easy you crazy typers |

| 2nd February 2009 Butch | Ha Ha Coler the bruiser - From: Jaipur - The Pink City Hey Kids, it's snowing and its about 2-3 inches deep yay :-) not quite the shorts 'n' t-shirt weather you seem to be constantly in, although DC you are looking more and more Indian by the blog post. Good to see HC is not letting the bad knee get in the way of a good scrap, DC did you film it, was it a fight club stylie ring with spectators circling the battle and more to the point did you make any money from the fight? Rock’n’Roller anyone? |
| 31st January 2009 Woody | Indiana jones - From: Amritsar & Attari Hey you guys! Thanks for the birthday text message during the week, a very nice touch and great piccy. I havent been keeping up this week very well but just had a quick read over. You sound gutted that your Indian mini adventure is over, what a great start to the tour eh! Whats the crack with that Indian guards trousers by the way? He looks like India's eqivilant to Simon Cowell but with a tash and funky hat! Good luck with the flight to Singapore. I presume that they are a bit more strict with air travel than they are with car travel and wont be squeezing 300 people into a 200 capacity plane!!! Still cold here unsurprisingly. And getting colder from tomorrow. I played football this morning and cried internally at just how cold the wind was. Spurs lupdate (as i know you love them so much) - they lost again to a late, late goal. Thats the 4th away game in a row where they've lost to a goal in the last 5 minutes. It's starting to test my patience i tell you. More updates next week - bet you cant wait! We wait with anticipation at your next update from your new location! |

| 24th January 2009 Woody | Mutton - From: Udaipur Hi Guys, continuous good blogging. Ref blog on the 15th - have you seen any mutton dressed as lamb? Nah, thats silly - it would be well too hot in all that heat to be dressed as a lamb. In honour of you guys clare and i are going to have an indian hotel night - curry, beer (well, vodka with something to null the foul taste), and some octopussy. Actually, we don't have octopussy but it can't be long until the next bank holiday and it's british law that it's played then so we might just wait a bit. Indian hotel night will just have to wait. Clare is next to me watching private benjamin and sends her love. Saturday night TV is still woeful. Also, spurs lost to man utd tonight in the fa cup. They too are still woeful. |

| 23rd January 2009 Butch | Is india really that big? - From: Udaipur DC/HC you have been gone for like a year already and are still in India! On my map its about 2 possibly 3 inches from north to south, are you sure you are not making all this up? But scarily enough it sounds very similar to my world, I often wonder along listening to the birds signing, I pass monkeys bare knuckle fighting and stop to watch girls massaging each other on the beach as the sun sets... are you in my world? If so, please leave it's not a safe environment to be in... Seriously though your blog is a great distraction from work, please write more... and where is my postcard! xx |

You guys are proper keeping us up to date with your frolics, we're loving it. Shame to hear that the Indian youth are hating you, but at least the old timers are making up for it. Maybe they are just aggressive because there are no chicks around to fill in. (Sorry) Do you guys ever wake up on a monday morning and think how awesome it is not to be scraping ice off your car at 6am before going to work? They probably have to scrape dead flies and mud off their cars! Or feed their donkeys or something. I gotta say, every photo you guys have uploaded is immense, what an amazing culture and way of life. Not a lot to report back here. I just bought a suit on line at marks spencer this afternoon but then you didnt really want to know that. Not sure if you're keeping up with the footy news DC but spurs are still horrendous and in the bottom 3 and man city are lining up a 100M deal for kaka. It's absolutely barmy but they might just pull it off. Over and out homies. Good luck on your next mini adventure |
