Rio Parana Delta early morning
Rio Parana Delta early morning
Mist on the Rio Parana after sunrise
Where have we been? Well let us think as its been a few days! We last updated the blog in Iguazu falls; from there we decided to leave our club med of hostels “Hostel Inn” to brave our first experience of Argentinean buses. So based with a plan of heading to the nearest National park we made a last min plan change based on timetables and available buses and ended up heading off at mid day for a 18hr bus trip to Rosario which we had heard was your classic Argentinean town set on the banks of the Rio Parana (second [View Full Entry]

So what do you do if your an under paid teacher looking for better conditions? Obvious isn't it, you set up a road block on the only road into town and don't let anyone pass including foot traffic. Well thats what happens in Argentina as we have found out. We arrived at Puerto Iguazu airport yesterday to find out we could not get a taxi into town to our hotel and so took the only option which was to head straight to the falls and leave our backpack in lockers. As it turned out chance gave us this great oppertunity and [View Full Entry]

Do they have steak houses in Argentina? Well I think we all know the answer to that question, but that might be where we both stopped agreeing. Picture not your normal steak restaurant "La Charca", we are talking a large open coal fire smoldering on the ground with sides of every animal hanging from a metal stand just above the red coals and gently cooking. This is some kind of shop front and once inside things did not get better for poor Leanne the Vege. We were ushered to our table to be surrounded by tigers leporards, antelope, deer, wild bore [View Full Entry]

In the wonderful world of travel we didn’t wake in Chile as planned but it’s a great big Hola from Argentina As was prob to be expected no one greeted us from our plane in Chile and the Check-in desk had no idea of a free Hotel. They told us we were on the next flight and would arrive at Buenos Aires just before midnight. Therefore, with no accommodation booked and the late night Delhi arrival experience fresh in our minds we staged a small protest. So between our very limited Spanish and their "selective" English we managed to secure a [View Full Entry]

Well we have had a fantastic few weeks since last updating our blog and how long ago India seems. Since arriving in Oz we have had our wedding on the Gold Coast, Matt had his Birthday with his twinny Emma in melbourne (first birthday togeather in 10yrs) and we have checked out the sights around our future home of Sydney. We now leave as Mr and Mrs Codd for Argentina via Chile with a night in Santiago at the expense of Quantas due to a 4 hrs delay that leaves us missing our connection to Argentina but we are in no [View Full Entry]

Farewell India

 Asia » India » Maharashtra » Mumbai
We find ourselves now at the end of a fantastic first leg to our world trip. India is a vast and complicated country and a place that will always remain with us. We will remember India for its highs and lows and although it must be said traveling around here is hard work (even on our second trip) it is not an experience we would want to miss. The people, food (with the odd exception) and culture are truly wonderful and unique. After being not more than a few meters from each others sides since we left London it will be [View Full Entry]

More of Mumbai

 Asia » India » Maharashtra » Mumbai
Yet another day of sight seeing and adventures. We have now mastered the Mumbai local trains (Metro) which makes London a breeze. There are special carriages for women (as not to be groped) disabled and handicapped but we could not work out if Matt fitted into any of these categories so we traveled with the masses. Our first stop was the Sanjay Gandhi national park which is just out of Mumbai and sounded amazing on paper with a Tiger and Lion safari. So after a 1hr commuter train, an autorickshaw and a 2km trek we were finally at our destination nestled [View Full Entry]

After 20 hrs traveling by train which although not the best experience was not as bad as it sounds. We had a bed to sleep in for one leg and plenty of room in first class (nice but not what you would imagine first class to be as still involves some pushing and shoving)on the second leg, to take in some amazing views. So here we are in Mumbai our final destination in India. We are not sure if we have finally acclimatized to India but Mumbai has captured both of us. Mumbai seems to have slightly more order than that [View Full Entry]

What a beautiful place! Udaipur is in our top city list. We are surrounded by a baron mountain landscape and nestled along side a large lake of which the center piece is an island palace. We arrived yesterday morning after a great train trip in which we slept for 90% of the time so were very fresh upon arrival at 7.30am. After finding a great Hotel we headed out to explore. First on the list was a visit to the City Palace perched on a hill in the city center. This was the filming location for the James Bond film "Octopussy" [View Full Entry]

The Pink City

 Asia » India » Rajasthan » Jaipur
Handy tip for those a little more gifted than us: Never take an auto rickshaw from a one eyed man in India as it is scary as all hell! We enjoyed a small lie in and headed out early morning for a very simple breakfast given our recent history. We then ventured out on the LP walking tour of Jaipur to soak in the culture, sights and sounds (lets not forget the smells!). Leanne got a little carried away on the soaking part and had to have her submerged foot quickly rescued by the bottled water from a puddle of unknown [View Full Entry]
