Hello Clare, great blog! I'm conducting feminist research on how American foreign policy affects popular support for terrorism. I’m particularly interested in incorporating the views of women, non-whites, and people living outside of America and Western Europe, but all responses are invited and welcome. The survey can be accessed at http://www.johnmaszka.com/SURVEY.html I would really value your opinion and the opinion of your readers. Please take a moment and fill out the survey. The long-term goal of this project is to facilitate a more diplomatic American foreign policy in the years ahead. Thank you, John Maszka

I <3 Pope Benedict - From: When in Rome.
Dearest Clare, Now that you are BFF's with Pope Benedict, I guess that means that I am an aqquaintance to him... lol... and did I ever tell you that I totally gave up my special k diet for his birthday on April 16?? lol... Anyways, the pictures and descriptions, of course, are BEAUTIFUL!! I am soo glad you were able to learn some Benedictine history and really see where our Catholic faith started... Now the question I have for you is, did you touch the Pope or get his number or anything? haha. Miss you and hope you have a great rest of your trip, especially with your aunt! Can't wait for the next update/ when I can talk to you again! Peace! Holls

This is probably my last comment for this blog... well that's a lie... but anyways... thank you for including me in your blog... :) and also thank you for being so detailed and wonderful in your writing... I have felt like I've been with you this whole time... Rome will be great (but you've already been so I know it is currently) and I pray and know that you have grown from this experience and I will also learn from you as well... Have a safe trip back to America... I can't wait to see you this summer... and enjoy all you can.... <3 Holly P.S. I wish I could've gone bar-hopping with you!!! Maybe when we are both 21... we will do it here in the states together!! Peace!

Lucca - From: Solo trip to Lucca
Clare: You did much better than we did. We had a big map and the three of us, Grandpa, my sister Dorothy and I went around in circles. I agree with you it is a quaint livable little town. We also did not find any Becherucci's while we were there. But Grandpa said walking across the plaza - To think that my father walked this same area years ago. We enjoyed it also. Glad to hear you did make it there. Love, Grandma B

Hi, Clare! I feel like I'm right there with you at all those wonderful experiences. It must have been a very special experience to be standing in the church of St. Clare. When you're back home, I'd love to here more about the Benedictine information you learned. Keep chugging along with your friends, letting us all share your good times; and I hope the weather warms up again real soon. Love, Grandma M.

No crowds - From: Living in Assisi and Perugia for a week.
Clare: Your blogs are extremely interesting and have enjoyed them very much. It looks like when you were in ASsissi there were not very many people. When we were there last April you couldn't move for the people. Glad that you are having this opportunity to see Italy. Love You....Grandma B

Well, well! Each entry sounds better than the one before. You really need to become interested in journalism; your writing is most interesting with a good touch of humor. How's your Italian coming along? You told us the cooking was improving. Good luck on mid-terms, and safe adventuring next week end. Love, Grandma M.

Greetings, Clare! You are a great story teller. This is the first time I've had a chance to read your blog because I was in Chicago for 10 days. Now, I'm home and reliving all your adventures. Your photos are wonderful. So glad you had a chance to be in good shape for all that hiking and running. Eat all the good food and gelato you want because you'll run it off very fast. Will write you later today about visiting Palermo. I''ll do it fast because I know you need to get tickets. Grandma M.
