Greetings all! Unfortunately my time in South Africa has come ot an end. What an amazing 12 days it has been. In this post we have: my safari, attacking monkies, Johannesburg crime, and the apartheid museum. Let's get started... Well, my trip thus far has been interesting to say the least. Right now, at 4:15 in the morning, I find myself trying to fix a paper (my very last undergrad essay) that I turned in a couple days before I left for South Africa. The problem started on Tuesday when I check my final grade for the 2 credit indepent study class that I was taking spring quarter. Well, after a solid day and a half of traveling, I have finally arrived in Cape Town! After settling in at the house, Katie and I ventured out into downtown Cape Town. The public transportation system here is ridiculous. Basically, there are privately owned Volkswagen vans that drive up and down the streets picking up passengers. The crazy drivers even add to the experience. Not only do they weave in and out of rush hour traffic, but sometimes they'll even use the other side of the road to get around people...even if there's oncoming traffic!
