Glad I found you post Enjoyed perusing over your photos. We are planned host to begin July 15 this year (2012) Found your post by luck. We were there in 03 and loved the area. Not sure if your still there but sure you had a good time.
Rugged and beautiful! Which we had some of that cool weather right now. We are cruising on the St. Johns River and were attacked last night by terrorist blind mosquitos.
Thanks for the pix. Safe travels.

Ostner is my great great grandfather, on mothers side, - Jones - Jerry Jones senior, I came across this picture just browsing the web, We live in Boise - Star, Charles Ostner was my great great Grandfather, Just curious, You say he is your great great uncle??
Thank you, Robert Keegan/Jones,
Charles Ostner family Hi, sorry I haven't checked the travelblog site where your message was for several months. Charles the woodcarver was my grandfather's Uncle on my father's side. I have read notes from my grandfather (William Ostner) who remembered Charles (they called him Karl) in Germany before he sailed to america and settled in the Boise area. I'm 60 so I'm thinking I'm in your father's generation. If you're interested, we stopped by the Boise historical society and they pulled a file on him with lots of pictures, hand written notes, correspodance from my uncles, etc. He was a pretty talented guy!
fathers I believe that our fathers would have loved doing what you guys are doing. I myself am a bit envinous. But Sunday we are going to Winchester VA to meet our newest Grandson. Luke Kenneth Pinter.

lvoe to you both. and really do love the pix Lea
oh to be in cool weather now! I so remember how beautiful that area was when we went there, how many years ago?? We had such a wonderful time. I remember the drive there from Vancouver. Stopped multiple times to take pictures and wanted the trip to never end. Have a fabulous time and send back some of that cool air for us!
WOW How fabulous, how beautiful!!! Love the pictures and your travel blog. Wish I was a mouse in your suitcase. It has been way to many years since I've been out west. I have always been awed by it's beauty. Enjoy and post more pix .
Just not right Temps in the 40's, sweaters, jackets, snow banks, campfires, what is this! I feel cheated. The last two weeks of our Bahama trip was so hot and calm I know we will never stay that late in the summer again. Those are wonderful places you're visiting and I envy your return to that area. Maybe when we go to Michigan in a few weeks we'll cool down too. Travel safe and keep the great photo travel log going.
Kool and Cool 70's, 40's, 23 this morning.... now I could get into that right now. Sounds like a wonderful trip and beautifully documented as usual. Have a safe remainder of the trip and keep up the beautiful pictures. Oh, and bring back some elk steaks!
So there you are! We were just talking about you the night before last, wondering where you were and how you're doing. Good to know all is well and you're enjoying life for all of us...;)
Wall Street Yes! That loop trail at Bryce through Wall Street was the one Drew and I took. It kicked my ass on the way back up. Thanks for the photo, it brings back good memories.
Your pictures are amazing! It's hard to believe that you guys are really out there. Looks like you have a had nothing but great weather considering the blue skies in every picture. Stay safe and come home in one piece, ok!
Miss you both! Can't wait for a family get together when you get back!
Where's the hair? Yeah it's all beautiful...and yeah it makes me envious to see you doing what everyone should do in their lifetime but what the hell happened to your hair, Patty? I couldn't tell it was you and wondered who you were taking pictures of until I enlarged it. Actually it looks really comfortable. When Cindy sees it she's probably gonna want to do it to. She's be saying for a while she'd like to cut her's short. Hope you're having a really good time. I can see why you went back to Utah. The pictures are beautiful! If you have a chance to get up to the Salt Lake area Chris is in Lehi (~30 mile south) and would love to see you, although we would really be envious of you seeing our grandson. Just kidding obviously. They will be here over Father's day...can't wait.
Sure do miss you guys. Keep us informed of where you are. When will you be back?
Rich
take me with Wish I could've slipped into your suitcase before you left. I have wanted to go to Carlsbad for a long time. Pictures are gorgeous, thank you for sharing. Have a fun, safe trip
Joan
Beautiful Pictures Hey Patty and Chuck! Wow...what beautiful sites you are seeing while I am back here trying to make it through the last 4 weeks of school! ; ) Patty...did you cut your hair short or is it just pulled back? It's nice to stop and smell the flowers huh? It looks like a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing! Makes me want to hit the road! Be safe and hope to see you soon and hear more upon your return!
What an awsome trip! Indeed, you both look very happy to be there and I can see why. We just got back from a week in Kentucky where I showed off my home town area to Pam. Lots of change but still the same... I'm sure you know that feeling. I've only seen Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver in Washington but plan to take in the rest someday and after seeing your pics I can't wait. Hope it wasn't too early for the blackberries and blue berries in Oregon and for sure I hope you found the Tillamook Cheese Factory and ate their wonderful oysters. Hey, why come home??? Just go around again..... Dave
