Hey everyone! I have finally given in to many requests for some kind of blog. I hope this will give you all a better idea of what I am actaully doing on the other side of the world. I hope to share with you, as much as I can, the places ive been, the people I've met and the expieriences I have had. As many of you know I am a terrible at writing... so please forgive my grammer and spelling mistakes!

The pictures I post are basic Jpegs so some of them dont look as good as they will after i process the RAW files...

To travel is not to see, it is to experience. It doesn't so much matter where you are and when but who you are able to meet and what you are able to experience.

Please leave comments and tell me what pictures you like!

So its been a couple weeks since i have left the warm comfort of The far side. It has been a very interesting time filled with lots of adventures and strange places to sleep. Hannah and I got a ride from Kane one evening into Devenport which is a suburb of Auckland and by the time we got there it was already dark and raining. After laughing out ourselves with our big backpacks over a flat white (similar to a latte) we decided to motivate and do some grocery shopping. We got some food and then decided that we would rather not pay the 25 dollars for the hostel so we wandered the dark suburban streets until we found a nice golf course where we decided to pitch our tent. We woke up pretty early and ... read more

I didn't know it when i arrived but it didn't take me long to discover what a unbelienibly awesome place it was. I was only planning to spend a week or two, i atleast needed to wait till me new debit card arrived in auckland cause at that point i was allllll out of money :-). The work was much different from the last farm; i didn't weed at all! instead it consisted of lots of cool ... read more

So Leon picked me up and unlike some of the people that pick me up, i had no question that he was a good guy. We chatted for a little while, I told him a little bit about myself, you know the usual. I asked him if he knew anything about a free campsite (I had heard of one in the book) but he didn't have a clue. But he did say i could just camp out right on his front lawn! I was very thankful to have been so lucky. It wasn't a long ride but when we arrived to Ahipara it was getting pretty dark. He dropped me off in the front lawn to set up camp and drove up his driveway to his house. He told me one of his son Ryan ... read more

So... i was on the road again. I was slightly hung over which didn't help... it seemed like every last night i had somewhere people would want to go drinking and I have found myself only being hung over on my travel days which isn't too fun. My plan was to hitch hike up to the Kauri forests where there are these crazy old awsome trees and camp out around there for a few days until they had space for me on my next farm. It was a pretty shit day which didn't help the fact that i was sad to be leaving the cozy farm and slightly hung over. So on arriving in Whangarie i decided that a bus would be a better option then hitching through the rain. Toni dropped me off at ... read more

I had been in touch with kerrin for a few weeks and was very much looking forward to meeting her, her family and seeing what the whole woofing expience was like! It was very strange entering a family like that, all of a sudden being so involved in such an intimate siuation... i loved it. Kerrin, the mom, was such a great motherly figure. Always making sure i was well fed and taking care of anything that needed to be done. Ralph, the dad, was an old wise sort who love sit around and chat about how nothing is at it seems. Rubin, their 19 year old son, had a very unique personality and sense of humor and we quickly became freinds. Murphy and ViVi were like the little sisters i always wish i had. ... read more

I have found that i cant really sleep well on planes anymore... but the connection from LA to Auckland had all the movies and free wine i wanted to it was fun. At 13 hours it was the longest flight it hink i have taken in my life! its hard to sit for so long but it was all worth it. I arrived in auckland right around 4:00 in the morning... my internal clock was all messed because of the 18 hour time difference and ... read more

so i would like to take a minute to explain what was going through my head in planning this trip and what kind of stuff i have decided to take with me... First of all... why? I have always loved to travel and expierience the world beyond that of my own comfortable one in the states. I was lucky to have parents that took me on interesting family vacations all over the world and force me to go hiking even when sometimes i didn't want to. So i thank my parents for teaching me the value of stepping outside my comfort zone. As many of you know, i dropped out of high school to get away from the long hours of school that i wasn't getting much out of. I was never one who wanted to ... read more
