South America... after 7 months on the road we'd finally made it here Our South American journey began in Santiago Anto's home city. The first couple of weeks were spent visiting the city and near by regions and more importantly preparing for Anto's sister's wedding. When the big day finally arrived it went off with a bang. The ceremony was great and the reception even better until the B

Chris Anto Round The World Trip Back to normal civilisation Life seems so easy in Oz compared with what it was like in Africa. Everyhting works and feels safe It's almost too easy... We flew into Perth on the west coast of Oz where we were greeted by Chris' friend Shannon who let us crash at her place for the few days we were there thanks a million Shan.
They say you should save the best for last and that was the intention with Mozambique. The promise of beautiful sandy beaches warm water great seafood and even better diving. Well I can gladly say we weren't disappointedWe started in Maputo the capital of Mozambique. The change from being in South Africa was huge and it felt like the real Africa again only with another small hurdle...

South Africa

So we've made it to the bottom of the world Well not really but the bottom of Africa anyway... I think that's an accomplishmentFirst stop was Cape Town where we got real lazy and sat on our bums for a week only to get up for the compulsary Table Mountain hike and the Robben Island tour where Mandela spent many years behind bars. Cape Town was also the place where we caught up with a cou

Namibia

We were luckily enough to muster together a group of 5 of us to hire a car and see what we could in Namibia as the public transport stystem here is almost non existent. We got a Nissan Almera. Probably not the best car for 5 adults but it was the only affordable one so it had to do. We started off at Etosha NP. The park was big but it was good having our own car as we could explore it at ou

Botswana on a budget

So we made it through the most expensive country in Southern African without destroying the bank balance We must thank our tent though. Without it we'd be broke Botswana is renound for it's expensive lodges and tourist facilities but we managed to survive it all and did a couple of guided tours aswell. We spent a few days in Kasane at the Chobe Safari Lodge's campsite. Nice place but ther

Vic Falls and South Luangwa NP

So from Lilongwe we were heading into Zambia. More specifically South Luangwa Nat. Park. This was supposed to take one day but then again this is Africa and things never happen on time. We were lucky enough to make it across the border and into the first town Chipata by 7pm We stayed in the worst guesthouse so far. No fan ventilation anything But they did have mossie nets So af

To Lake Malawi and beyond...

We opted for the Scandanavia bus from Dar to Mbeya near the Malawi border as they had the best reputation so considering it was a long drive we thought we'd do well with these guys. We couldn't have been more wrong The bus was late due to mechanical problems and certainly problems that they didn't fix properly About 6 times the bus died on us and as this caused the bus to run late the

Zanzibar

We arrived at the port of Zanzibar called Stone Town with the usual hassle of hawkers trying to drag you into their guesthouses but we were having none of it as we know where we were going. The whole 2km trip to Jambo's we had about 10 guys following us argueing between them and eventually fighting once we were in our place Quite a funny sight to watch Stone town is buil up with narrow

We arrived in Arusha Tanzania and much to our surprise when we got to the bus stop there was a local holding up a sign with both our names. STRANGE We hadn't booked anything so why's this dodgey bugger got our details We figured the guesthouse we stayed at after the last safari must've told someone about our arrival and tried to get to us straight off the bus to book more safari's with t

Nairobi and the Masai Mara

After an eventless flight we arrived in Nairobi or NaiRobbery as it is informally known as. We stayed at a place called Nairobi Backpackers and it was a great place to get things rolling in Africa. It was mega chilled out and even though it was hot they had a bon fire going every night where everyone chilled out and drank Tusker beer. We liked the place. Nairobi itself didn't seem to ha

Unfortunately all good things come to an end. In this case it's our lives in London. Saturday night was our leaving bash at The Gardening Club in Covent Garden. Of course there was always the anticipation of whether anyone was going to turn up and we were going to be left partying the night away by ourselves but in the end everyone we could've wanted turned up. A great night was had An
