Sorry that it has been so long since we have put anything on the blog. Things continue to go well here in Africa. We have just started our annual preacher’s seminar today which will last three days. We have an excellent turnout this year with about 50 preachers in attendance. I had the opening lesson this morning which dealt with sermon preparation. I believe the lesson went well, although we ran short on time. Last month we had our yearly WBS campaigns which lasted nearly the entire month. We worked with 7 different congregations during the campaign. Overall the meetings went well and we had 26 baptisms and 2 restorations. We had an average attendance of 94 each night for the public speaking. Next week we have two more seminars coming up, one for the ... read more

The Wall Came Tumbling Down This past week has been a very interesting week. It all started with water problems - the rains have prematurely stopped and you might have guessed we didn’t get the intake fixed. So this last Monday we lost all water, which is a big deal, for the Hospital, missionaries, primary school, students dorms, teacher homes, the nursing quarters and the village in front of us all depend upon this water. So Tuesday we went to work on a new intake from the river which was a huge job but we got it done Wednesday with the help nearly 50 natives. We were so thankful for the turn out of volunteers for without them we would most likely still be there. There is power in unity! Wednesday was another interesting day ... read more

I wrote this a few weeks back but our internet service wasn’t working so well so I never got a chance to publish it. Another week has come and gone and all is well. At times it’s hard to believe we are actually in Africa and regardless of how many times we tell ourselves we are here sometimes we just forget. Like yesterday, I went to Mbeya our nearest city to buy 3 refrigerators for the mission, of course in the back of my mind I thought this would be no more than a three hour deal anyways some six and a half hours later we finally made it home and on top of it all our refrigerator didn't work. Or like last Sunday when we went to get something to eat after worship in ... read more

We boarded the plane January 18th and arrived here in Tanzania on the 20th. By far it was the most eventful, tiresome trip we have ever made. It started out with the cancellation of our first flight, which was to leave at 1:30 from DFW to Chicago O'Hare. Everyone who was going out on that flight began searching for another flight there in the terminal. After seeing the huge line I decided to leave the terminal and go back to the ticket counter and with luck we were able to get tickets for the 4:30 flight to Chicago O'Hare. Now it gets even better, because they reissued our tickets we became some sort of a security risk, which meant that all of our hand bags had to be gone through and swabbed, and we had ... read more
