You wouldn’t think that if you are cruising over water for two days, that you would be busy. But I have been more busy than I could have imagined! It has been a good busy today. We all slept in today, and then went to grab breakfast. After a very quick breakfast, we headed over to the next talk in our conference. It was specifically about God’s sovereignty in election. This has actually been one of the greatest things for me to be learning right now. It’s so easy to slip into the mentality that things get past God, or was God even paying attention to….? This morning in our lesson, I learned that God in His eternal decrees, ORDAINS everything that happens. I learned that the only way that we can work through grief and ... read more
Today we embark to Alaska. We spent some time getting to know our ship, and found ourselves making various appointments for a bunch of things for the first two days, as we will be at sea for both days. Some things lined up are pedicures, photo sessions for Chet and I (yeah!), hot stone massage, and “Ladies Night Spa Treatments”. We will hit Alaska on Wednesday. We enjoyed a lovely worship service with R.C. Sproul. The conference is on God’s sovereignty in election (or God’s choosing of believers to believe). I think it is going to be amazing. Listening to him tonight was so encouraging to my much weary, sometimes dry soul. It is so easy as a Christian to lose sight of the simple truths that make me a believer. R.C. was right to the ... read more

So we are home again, we got to say good bye to Abaco yesterday and had a mildly stress-free trip back. It was lovely to see the lights of Los Angeles as we landed. I love and will always love California.... read more
Today was so much fun. All of us went to Winding Harbor, and enjoyed ourselves with the blue floaties, played beach tennis, and Susie, Cheston and I all tried out paddle boarding. Pictures to illustrate.... read more
No, seriously, these are real life pictures. I thought I was looking at a Corona commercial, with the deserted white sand beach, the soft lulling song of the waves strumming against the shore, and the cool breeze hitting my skin. But alas, I was reminded that I was in real life when I dipped my feet in the water. Chilly, but delightful. Spent the day enjoying the company of Susie, George and my dear husband. Got to lay in a hammock for part of the afternoon, drifting in and out of sleep. Lots of travel stories to tell about the trip and arrival here, but will save it for the next blog. Cheers, Kat and Chet... read more
Recap on our trip out here: Was supposed to leave LA at 11 pm, but because of 11 drunken men on the plane, and a crowd of security, a yelling stewardess and pulling the airplane all the way back to the gate from the runway, we ended up leaving more near midnight. It was definitely the most excitement I have seen on a plane. Got to Miami, and slept on the chairs waiting during our 5 hour layover. Let me let Chet describe the airport in Abaco here: The runway was a little wider than our driveway and all the signs were hand painted...at least there were no typos. As we waited in line for customs the lady had to tell us to "compact the line" so we would not be "standing on the runway." They ... read more
Ok, so this isn't a far away place, but this counts as a travel. Ahhhhh, precious Disneyland. Cheston and I visited this weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, even though we only hit one ride. We decided we had an "old people" day and that we got to enjoy Disneyland like older people do. We strolled around slowly avoiding speeding strollers and people running to the rides. It was a day of Disneyland firsts! I got to enjoy a turkey leg for the first time! Although a novelty, it definitely was a lot of meat to eat. I probably will opt for the chimichanga next time. :) We tried a cream cheese filled pretzel, which was TO DIE FOR. The coolest thing was that we happened to be at Disneyland during the "Disney California Food and Wine Festival". ... read more
This weekend we were able to travel out to Las Vegas (or as my Dad and father-in-law would say "Lost Wages") and celebrate my brother and sister-in-law's 30th birthdays. We had quite the wonderful time with the family, saw and did many things, and truly enjoyed eachother's company. We arrived Friday and enjoyed dinner at Smith and Wollensky with all of the immediate family members. The coolest part was that we had this special glass enclosed room right off the kitchen, where we got to see all the culinary action. We then went over to the Piano Bar in New York New York, and enjoyed some good old fashioned entertainment, hearing the classics like Journey and Billy Joel's "Piano Man". I vowed to learn the lyrics so that the next time we go, I can sing ... read more
This weekend, we took a nice trip up to my in-laws' to visit for Easter. We were able to see the whole family, which was absolutely delightful. One of the highlights of our trip was our nephew George's 2nd birthday party. There was an Easter egg hunt at his party, where all the approximately 2 year olds walked around finding plastic eggs filled with toys and stickers and filled their little bags with the eggs. At the end of the hunt, there were blankets all around for them to sit in and count their eggs. My nephew, being the smart little guy that he is, skipped all those steps by picking up each Easter egg, opening it, pulling out the goodies and tossing the plastic egg. I had so much fun watching him and walking with ... read more
