Kiwi Birds According to Aboriginals in New Zealand, who attempted to eat a Kiwi Bird, they simply do not have enough meat. The California Quails would be considered a "Feast" compared to what the Kiwi has to offer. It's not worth trying to eat the endangered critters.

Escalator Hand Rails What a great story!
Hygiene in an elevator it's a pity they don't apply that health policy to escalator and travelator rubber handrails, if people only knew how the APT level is they would not obey the entry signage.
APT (adenosine triphosphate)
Biological residue is on all hand rails.
With global travel infection is very high.
So next time you use a moving walk ask yourself a question is it clean or ATP free.

Hi
Nice blog. I would just like to add som more information.
Hindus believe that Elephant God Vinayaka should be first invoked and prayed before starting anything new. The asuras and the devas did not do so in this case and hence faced many hurdles. When they realise this they hurriedly made an idol of Vinayak using the froth from the ocean. This idol is now believed to be in the temple at Thiruvalanchuzhi near Kumbakonam. follow this link for details on the temple http://rajamala.wordpress.com/2010/02/20/thiruvalanchuzhi-vellai-pillayar/
I have also written about a lot of other temples in that region. Please do visit my site and offer your comments.
Name Saigon is Older Hi, and thanks for your well-written description of your trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. One small correction, the name "Saigon" has been in use for the city for probably hundreds of years. It became official in 1862.

Dear George and family,
Very many thanks for your kind words. We are happy that Winnie made a lasting impression on you.
Her funeral and celebration of her life was very well attended.
We would be interested to know how you knew we were related to her.
All the best,
Nick and Paula
Winnie Rowlands R.I.P. Just incase some people do not know. Winnie Rowlands has sadly passed away at the grand old age of 94. She was my first teacher at St Georges Road School Wallasey in 1952. She was also my sons teacher in 1985. I will never forget her, she was a wonderful person. Condolensces to the family from George York and family

Book Hi Nick and Paula,
You certainly are visiting some interesting places. I think you should write a book about your travels, I am sure they would be a best seller. You are both really having a fantastic time by the look of your experiences and the photos.
We are going to your mum's next Saturday so I am really looking forward to looking at the photo's she had taken. The thing is these days, most photos are downloaded straight onto the computer and they seem to stay there - at least ours do.
Take care,
Margaret and Dave.
home time! loved reading about your catch up time at home - although it did sound like you ate and drank more in those 6-7 weeks than you did the whole previous 12 months!! x
Saw your Site Sawatdee Nick and Paula, good to read your site (via Huw), very well composed and informative, with some great pics. A mate of mine (tourism/landscape consultant) wrote the conservation strategy for Angkor some years ago, so it was interesting to read your experience of the place. You seem to be having a pretty busy time, wonder what you thought of Thailand at New Year? I think it has gone to the dogs, too much decadence (and not just excesses by the tourists, the Thai forestry department sold all the islands for big cash).
Stay safe, keep enjoying the trip, keep taking the pics, think of all us rat racers behind our desks with the arctic winds blowing outside!
Best wishes
Phil
SPIDERS (LARGE) UGHHHHH! OH! MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME! I would have leapt straight through the so called glass or any other type of ceiling for that matter!!! Looking forward to seeing you soon - Take very good care of each other , Love Hilary and Dave XX
"a Great Wall and only a great people with a great past could have a great wall and such a great people with such a great wall will surely have a great future." - wow, Nixon really did have a way with words.
Also, interesting to see that the British government have today announced some measures they're clearly copying from the Chinese... security checks at major rail stations.
Flying train Here was I, desperate to see a picture of a train carriage hoisted 6 feet in the air, as you promised... yet Alas! no picture could be found.
Paula - Here we are fulfilling a long-held dream of travelling the planet. Through our travelblog have fun joining us along the way!
Nick - these are a couple of quotations that I picked up along the way:
"In German, there is a word, Kunstlerschuld, which means "artist's guilt", the emotion a painter feels over his frivolity in a world in which people work in a rut that makes them gloomy. Perhaps there is also a sort of traveler's guilt, from being self-contained, s... full info
