The whole place was scattered with leftover luminarias, while San Felipe de Neri Church stood solemnly in the background.
After spending several nights on Greyhound buses, I finally could sleep properly on the bed on Christmas Eve... On Christmas, I woke up at around 8am. When I woke up, I felt sore and tired. I also felt a bit dizzy and I seemed to have a headache. Suspecting a fever, I took my thermometer and measured my temperature. It was more than 39°C! Nevertheless, I quickly had my breakfast and took some medication, before tidying up the kitchen. (This hostel charged a low accomodation fee, but in return, it requires guests to do simple household chores.) I checked out from [View Full Entry]

(This post is almost 4 months overdue... After my US trip, I returned to Singapore, where my new university term started. Now, my term finally ended and I finally have the time to post this blog. I apologize for the delay...) From Denver, I took Greyhound to Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico. I reached Albuquerque at around 4am. I planned to leave my luggage inside the lockers in Albuquerque Greyhound depot, and then I would take the 6:30am Greyhound bus to Santa Fe (without carrying my luggage). After visiting Santa Fe, I would take Greyhound back to Albuquerque in [View Full Entry]

(This post is almost 3 months overdue... Although the diary date is 23 Dec 05, I'm posting this on 14 Mar o6... After my US trip, I returned to Singapore, where my new university term started. Back in Singapore, I was so busy with work that I barely had time to post my travel-blogs. Now, I post this blog first. Hopefully I will post my other blogs soon, if I have the time... I apologize for the delay...) After spending more than 9 hours on the Greyhound bus from Salt Lake City, I finally reached Denver at around 6am. The sky [View Full Entry]

After 2 days in Las Vegas, I took a Greyhound night bus to Salt Lake City. The ride was about 9 hours long, and unlike the trip from Vancouver to Edmonton, there were no mountains and no snow, so the scenary out of the window was pitch black. I arrived at the Salt Lake City Greyhound depot at around 7am. To my surprise, the bus stopped at a brand new depot, instead of the downtown depot (as mentioned in my Lonely Planet guide). Luckily, the new depot is not very far from downtown. When I arrived, the sky was still dark [View Full Entry]

I have taken so many photos in Las Vegas that I decided to divide the photos into 2 parts. Las Vegas is simply amazing. Everywhere you go, you'll see something interesting and something that you want to capture with your camera. Every casino is a tourist attraction by itself and you can unknowingly take dozens of photos in one casino. At the end of my 2 days' stay in Las Vegas, I had taken over 600 photos! (Of course, I am not going to upload all the 600 photos. This will be madness. Instead, I have chosen the more beautiful and [View Full Entry]

Las Vegas. Everybody knows this place. Known as “Sin City”, Las Vegas has the highest number of casinos in one single city. On the Strip (the main road in LV), casinos are located side by side and every casino tries to out-do one another by offering interesting attractions and entertainments. Even if you’re not gambling, Las Vegas has a lot to offer. Where on earth can you admire Egyptian monuments, walk through a Roman plaza, have a cup of coffee under the Eiffel tower, take a gondola ride along Venice’s canals, and shop in Downtown Manhattan, in just one day? After I typed my previous blog about Calgary, I packed up my stuffs and made my way to Calgary Airport. To travel from the hostel to the airport, I need to take a C-train to the end of the line and transferred to a bus. When I left the hostel and approached the City Hall C-train station, I saw a train coming, so I quickly ran to the station to catch the train. However, after the train departed, I realised that I forgot to purchase a ticket!!! (Calgary Transit has a fareless zone along Downtown's 7th Street. Outside 7th Street, normal [View Full Entry]

Fantastic Calgary

North America » Canada » Alberta » Calgary
After 1 and a half days in Edmonton, the next stop of my trip is Calgary, the largest city in the province of Alberta. When the Greyhound bus approaches Downtown Calgary, I was awed by the wealth and prosperity of the city. Gleaming skyscrapers, linked with skybridges, lined the tidy streets. The sky was clear and cloudless, but I just found the weather a bit too cold for me. When I was checking in at the hostel, I was asked to pay the fee (which I thought I had paid with my mum's credit card). As the same case in Edmonton, [View Full Entry]

Finally I have started my 2-week North American trip. The first stop of my trip is Edmonton, the provincial capital of Alberta. On Friday, I reached the Pacific Central Station in Vancouver and I exchanged the proof of purchase of the Greyhound Discovery Pass for the actual pass. With this Greyhound pass, I can take an unlimited number of bus rides within Westcoast America within 21 days. The journey didn't start as smooth as I expected. Firstly, the Greyhound bus from Vancouver to Edmonton was late... Very late in fact... This was because there was too much people going to board [View Full Entry]

The bus from Vancouver to Edmonton

Tonight, I will start my 2-week journey to various places in Canada and USA. The first stop of my trip would be Edmonton, where I will spend 2 days. Then I will go to Calgary and spend one day. From Calgary, I'll be flying to Las Vegas. After spending 2 days in LV, I will travel around USA Southwest and California, before visiting my father's friend, Uncle Danny, in San Francisco (my last stop). I will fly back from San Francisco to Vancouver on 3rd January. Then, finally, I will fly back to Singapore on 5th January. Yesterday, I moved all [View Full Entry]
