Hey there! We arrived in Bangkok after a 10 hour bus journey, the journey was on a locals bus and pretty good, comfortable and safe. We stayed in Bangkok for a few days to chill out and decide where we wanted to go next, we found a place called Koh Lanta on the net which looked lovely and not touristy like a lot of Thailand islands are now so we booked a flight to Phuket to then take a boat. We stayed in Phuket town for 2 nights so we could check out the best way to get to Koh Lanta, the town was great and full of local Thai people and hardly any tourism, however the beach resorts were too touristy and busy, we did go to two beaches which were very pretty and good ... read more

Hey there! We arrived in Luang Prabang Northern Laos after an hour flight in a plane with propellers instead of engines! Everyone looked slightly nervous when they saw it but after a complimentary beer and food the atmosphere became more relaxed lol! The town was very beautiful with French colonial buildings and lots of Buddhist temples and being a world heritage site development is regulated so it retains its beauty and old character. It is also set on the banks of the Mekong river with hills and mountains surrounding, we spent most of our days exploring the area and chilling out and eating the fine food on offer! One day myself and Craig hired some mountain bikes and decided to ride to the huge waterfall called Tat Kuang Si which was a 70 kilometres round trip! ... read more

Hey there! On our return from Halong Bay we jumped on a night sleeper train and took a trip to the Sapa mountains to do some trekking and stay overnight in one of the villages, the journey by train was very comfortable but quite noisy so sleep was sporadic. We arrived in Sapa early morning and transferred to the town by mini bus, we were allocated a hotel so we could shower and change before the trek began. Our guide was called Dumz and he was very knowledgeable and very funny, his spoken English was broken but his understanding of the language was excellent, it was only the three of us plus some of the hill tribe woman on the first leg of the trek which was cool! The weather was quite misty and rainy on ... read more

Hey there! Craig and myself decided to take a two day boat trip to see the beautiful Halong Bay in Northern Vietnam, these are enormous Islands that rise up out of the emerald water! There are approx 3000 in total and natural wonders part of the Unesco World Heritage site, amazing to look at! We stayed on a wooden junk boat, our cabin was great with a private balcony, the views from the top deck were lovely and we visited the most spectacular caves inside one of the islands housing huge rock formations of different shapes and colours. In the afternoon we went Kayaking around the Islands, great fun and stunning scenery! We ate some lovely fresh seafood and had the opportunity to jump of the boat or swim off one of the Islands, the other ... read more

Hey there! We arrived in Saigon about 6pm in the evening, Ho Chin Minh city was very busy with various activities and an unbelievable amount of mopeds! The traffic is mainly made up of mopeds and in rush hour they even drive on the pavements, we really had to have our wits about us when crossing the road. We had dinner and drinks that evening with some people we met on the Mekong trip which was good fun, we walked to the night markets where they cook live frogs to your specification, I really wanted to free them but unfortunately they are a popular dish in Vietnam and on most menus :-( The next few days myself and Craig toured the city by foot, we visited the war museum which was excellent and educational, it’s a ... read more

Hey there! Our next leg of our SE Asia journey was Vietnam, after talking to a few other travellers we decided to cross the border by boat along the Mekong River as the trip is stunning and a very relaxed way to enter the country, we travelled back to Phnom Penh and booked our ticket to leave the next morning. The first hour and half was by air con bus to the ferry port where we caught he boat, the boat was long and made of wood and the only passengers were myself, Craig and two girls from Chilli, Anna and Bea who were really nice, it was great just the four of us as this made the journey more chilled out. Immigration was so easy all we did was jump off the boat and get ... read more

Hey there! We caught a bus to the Cambodian border from Koh Chang which took about 5 hours, we were joined by Maria from Sweden who was travelling alone and didn’t fancy the border trip on her own as its renowned for being hectic and full of scams. Poipet border has many pickpockets, mostly children and at every turn someone was trying their luck, overcharging for visas, changing currency etc…we managed to avoid all scams and got our visa for the correct money and without too much hassle. There were many travellers with us and we made some good friends, Jonchi from Germany and Trinny from Chilli, they decided to get a cab with us and Maria to Siem Reap all five of us crammed into the cab which took 3 hours, a real squeeze but ... read more

Hey there! We arrived on Koh Chang Island after a 5 hour bus journey from Bangkok, we had to take a ferry across which was about 20minutes. The view from the ferry was amazing, very lush green and surrounded by clear green water. Our first stop was White Sands which is a bit touristy but the closest resort, we were really tired and needed to rest so we stayed there for 2 nights, it has a beautiful beach that goes on for miles! We hired a moped the next day and had a good look around the Island, it is the best way to see all the beaches and unbelievable views, the Island is quite hilly so being on the moped was a real buzz and sometimes the bike struggled to make it up the hills ... read more

We touched down in Bangkok about 9pm and decided to catch a bus to the Khao San road which is the backpackers Mecca and a good place to start, the whole place was bustling with people and lively music, the humidity was intense and the temperature 33 degrees! We couldn’t find our guesthouse to start with so we must of walked around for a good 30 minutes in the heat with the backpacks on, it was hard work and sweaty, did think I might collapse for a second! Eventually we did find our place to stay and it was cool, nice and cheap basic room with clean shared bathrooms. We decided to pop out and get a drink as soon as the backpacks were off and it was madness! The streets were packed with food vendors, ... read more

Hey there! Well we arrived in Bangkok safe and sound after a 16 hour flight , we did stop at Bahrain for about 4 hours first which was surreal at 5am in the morning, there was a singing reindeer head in the airport belting out classic Elvis Presley songs! It was even more weird when the eyes and antlers started moving as well, I was staring at it for ages thinking god I’m truly jet lagged! When we eventually boarded the plane I slipped into a mini coma as soon as my bum hit the seat, I awoke when I drooled on my arm, classy I know lol! Craig then informed me that shortly after take off a fight had erupted between 4 passengers! Apparently it was really heated and they were throwing fists at each ... read more
