Caz and Char

Woke up early feeling pretty down an homesick for the first time. its such a bizarre feeling, jus didnt kno how to get rid of it tryed eatin lots but that didnt do the job the bizarrist thing did tho, we had walked to this really cool place on stilts over the sea for lunch that had loads of cushions on the floor an little tables an had a really big tasty lunch was one of the first times i have felt full! an was sittin ther apologising to charlotte cz i jus felt so funny an like a loser started crying! then she went of to buy me a smoothie :) an the bar man took a liking to her! she came back with thai writing all over her arms and love hearts on her! ... read more

So we got up at 5am to cycle to the Angkor Wat to watch the sunrise, this was a massive dissapointment! it was dark an then it was light with a tiny dot in the sky because it was so cloudy! bit of a let down! then we went inside and it was pretty big. then i got bitten by a monkey an one climbed micheal which was pretty funny, i didnt drop down with rabies at the end of the day so everthing is alright. they were really cute tho an also really vicious one women made the mistake of going near them with bananas in her bag they must have an awesom sense of smell cos they pounced instantly she was quite an old women tryin to run away felt quite bad cos there ... read more

So, at 6 oclock, (after not going to sleep) we missioned it downstairs to meet georgie and leave thailand before our visas ran out that night! The man behind the desk said we couldnt leave our bags behind the desk unless we picked them up ourslefs so we went and woke up Veerla (georgies roomate) shoved our bags in her room and off we went! We decided they day before, as we were only going for a week, we could survie on livign with just our day bags and jane, out team leader said she would take our bags while we were in cambodia! Sooooooo the big day finally arrived! Me Steph and Caz were all fully prepared, we had warmed up properly the day before ( i think me and caz had a bucket to share which was probably the most we'd drank since we got here! At least we're cheap!) and bought a load of body paint! We decided not to go out to full moon party until 11 as theres no alcohol being sevred until midnight (although im not so sure that true because there was plenty going around when we got there!) and so at six o'clock we began painting! at ten, we were dragged from our room, the taxi was on the verge of leaving, but our paint looked good so it was worth the fours hours it took! i think! So we hit Haadrin the party central beach to see what is was like. ther were so many gorgeous shops that blantently made a bomb out of drunk people buyin ponitless stuf they didnt need! we headed down the the beach where Cactus bar was a base an obviously the happenin place to be! surroundin that was rows of huts sellin buckets they all had ridiculous names like Anna Fuck My Bucket and Jerusulam Buckets Jesus's favorite! an basically anythin ridicluously crude! We reached our destination Mac Bay an didnt leave it for a long time, we had a lovely little wooden hut over looking the swimming pool that overlooked the beach it was incredible!! we chilled in the day by the pool an in the sea, (one day me an charlote got stupidly addicted to collecting tiny shells) and then went out in the evening. Ten minutes one way was a little town market called Thong Sala, we did some shoppin ther got our legs waxed an on are last night found an awesom food night market. they had big metal bowls filled with all sorts of curries an u could taste before you bought an a million other food stalls. 40Baht for curry an rice thats 80p. here i had my first massaman curry, mmmmmmmmmmm with ... read more

Today was our last day in sangkla which made us quite sad because after two weeks we had become quite attatched to it here! we had a nice relaxing day went to the market which sold excessive amounts of jewelery and once you had seen one stall you had seen it all. it was Mrs Scamp Heaven. The burmese women are really forceful and they have the dissapointed face down to a T when you dont buy something from them, as soon as you show any intrest in something they start getting everything out to try and guilt trip you into buyin stuff, we learnt to point things out descreetly! So we went on another walk which was slightly harder this time! well the first half hour was steep uphill then the rest was really lazy strolling with soo many breaks! and lunch and me anc chaz had stocked up on snacks... mmm. we trekked to the school/orphanage that we had painted the two days before and it was really lovely to see the children using the classrooms we had done up for them, we definately got lucky with our volunteerin because the next group had to build some concrete steps! ooo exciting. so we did a bit of teaching at the school well i jus sat at the back with this guy called sway who we became quite obssessed with! he is this orphan from the karen tribe so he doesnt even speak proper thai ... read more

So we returned to finish our paint job natalie had an ear infection so was shipped of to hospital so we were one man down we had three and everone else had 5! but we forged on anyway! charlotte spent most of the day paintin the brown floor border and window frames but was determined to paint one fish on i dno if she did this but she painted a pretty cool jellyfish that put my seriously demented one to shame! i did a pink whale which was pretty coool :) then we put the chairs and tables back in and it looked really good! felt quite happy with outr work even tho the other rooms were so much better, the childeren loved them and we let them put their hand prints all round the room. ... read more

Today we went to the Karen Hill tribe to do some volunteer work redecorating their class rooms. Me Charlotte nat and sarah chose to do our room in pale blue and underwater themed! so we got to work, then nat got bored and decided to attack the back of my leg with paint... the war began. we decided to atttack the green room with our blue paint so loaded up and went an rollered their walls, adam was shouting nooo its wet paint its wet paint but this just fuelled us more. we were expected a bit of retalliation and were quite dissapointed with the lack of it! so we went back to attacking each other, by the end of the day we were covered head to toe in paint! nat just gave up in the ... read more
