Cashew

Singapore was cool, went to the shopping malls (and only looked...yes we didnt buy anything!!), met a friend from oz, and saw the sights...then went to KL where we did some actual shopping (and practised our bartering skills ready for thailand) at the amazing central market and also went to the petronas towers...then off to thailand. Thailand in general has been pretty cool. Started off in Phi Phi where we immediately struggled to control our shopping tendencies, oopsie!!! We had a few biggish nights out with some horrendous hangovers reminiscent of San fran, the Chang beer over here is lethal!!! So the travels began right in the middle of oz in the outback for a 3 day camping trip, which we survived without any encounters with snakes or massive spiders! Had a great time, visiting the olgas, kings canyon and of course aryes rock...absolultey beautiful at sunset. A 24 hour train ride on the Ghan took us down to adelaide... Short stop in adelaide but we visited a few art galleries, a wine centre, an aboriginal museum, the botanic gardens etc. All very cultured! Next stop Melbourne, which we all loved, such a great city. Did all the usual sightseeing stuff but also went down to St Kilda for the day (by the sea) and of course how could we not mention the famous neighbours tour!! Fiji time...a pretty good invention....time can go forward or backwards a couple of hours or seem to just stand still for days. Nothing is a rush, nothing is a problem. So after 3 weeks of fiji time we are all pretty much as relaxed and chilled out as we could be! Had a wicked time lazing in the sun, lazing in hammocks, lazing in the sun, lazing....etc etc. But we also did do a mountain summit trek, made braclets out of coconuts, did crab racing ( where we revealed our dislike of crabs to a bunch of lads from cambridge and london..who then decided it would be funny to put one in our woven/wooden shack...and did you know crabs can climb walls!!?, well they can... funny now, not at the time!), lying on the beach in ... read more

So we made it to the states all in one piece! Did quite a lot of stuff in San Fran despite slightly iffy weather. Visited alcatraz, the famous priosn on the island, would have been awful to have stayed there, was horrible. Went to pier 39, Fishermans wharf, china town, the golden gate bridge (after a few buses in the wrong direction!), lombard street (the hills are so steep the road has almost 90 degree bends so the cars can get down...was an absolute mission to walk up!) Met some fun people in the hostel, played some drinking games (which ended a bit messily as always!..but had a really good nite out on sat with a bunch of ozzie guys and their mascot (a teddy dressed in a cricket outfit, bit odd!).
