Hey everyone, I've officially moved down under to the land of Oz, where I will be traveling along (and surfing) the amazing coastlines of the South Pacific for the next five months. This is my blog that I will update as regularly as possible, complete with pictures and tall tales. Oh yeah, I'm also at university to study fine arts on the UNSW-COFA campus (University of New South Wales-College of Fine Arts).

summer is over! poor me! hahaha.

THE PROFESSOR LIKES MY NEWEST IDEA! Finally! I have been wracking my brain over this for probably two or three weeks now, what a relief. After being mocked/told that my last idea (using synesthesia and making my own homemade midi instruments to trigger audio/visual results) was cliche, I had the weekend to figure out a good project and was at a total loss for ideas. Unfortunately, since electronic arts is such a mystery to most people, anyone I tried to bounce my ideas off of mostly just blinked at me and said "uh, yeah that sounds cool." The inspiration struck me in the funniest and most ironic way, too. Being that I just happend to have this fume mask for my etching class lying around. What that way might have been... is anybody's guess ;). I ... read more

Hey Cam, my answers to these questions are below: Gday All, I am interested in finding out whether Indigenous components of Arcadia excursions are worthwhile, and in what ways contribute to the Study Abroad experience. I would be very grateful if you could address the following questions. 1. Have you studied Indigenous culture in the US? I have not taken any specific courses on Aboriginal or Native American culture, but I have taken a couple African American courses, as well as basic historical cover on these topics (which generally is too generic and from a westernized perspective). 2. Are you taking Indigenous courses here in Australia? No, I'm not taking any indigenous courses here. I would have liked to if I were staying longer, but my primary reason for studying abroad (ie. at another university) was ... read more

Went surfing for the first time yesterday. I am not very good at all. haha. I'm having trouble standing up. I guess that's the hardest part, of course, actually getting up so you can try your hand at carving & balance. Luckily, I'm not worried as I have literally the next 3.5 months to learn and improve, and the ocean is practically at my front door. Not that I can see it from where I live, but we've been running down to the beach in wetsuits & no shoes from our doorstep. It's that close. So I think I am going to head off again and try to hit the surf today for a little while, but in the meantime, I wanted to upload a few more pictures from the Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach walk ... read more

SO, I HAVE OFFICIALLY BEGUN THIS TRAVEL BLOG! I will start with a general overview on what I've been up to & what my location is like. My roommates are great. There are 2 guys (Kenji & Clay) & 2 girls (Casey & Amanda) and they are all awesome in their own way. We are getting along really well, everyone cooks, most of us take turns cleaning up the kitchen & doing all the dishes, and we all like each other. We have been watching Matt Damon movies like every night. Every night we aren't drinking that is. Which is becoming more frequent now that school has started. We live in a complex with 5 other apartments and all of them are international. There is a good mix of European and American students, which makes it ... read more
